ruthead, Now that i am retired I would love try the White. I was at Gastons years ago. Just fished from a boat. Any suggestions where to camp and wade fish? thanks!

LOL Rich!!! You funny man. August sounds like fun! Hope I don't do something crazy...like get a part time job. NO WAY. Hopefully I can make it down. Wife and I ate at the lodge several times and it was good and we didn't have to cook. All in all a good trip. The popup towed great. BTW, the fish I saw and I caught we very nice size!! I was fishing 7x on my 3 weight TFO rod and they put up a good fight especially in the fast water. Good luck this weekend and let us know how you do.

Great to meet you guys, Troy and Seth. Fished a couple of hours in the fast water and caught 3 on the secret emerger fly. I really liked the leader with the indicator section! Thanks for everything. I'm heading home since the weather appears to be getting Rainy everyday. I'll be back the next time I get vacation......oh wait...that's forever on vacation now!!!! It sucks you have wait till you're old.

Rained early this morning pretty good. No leaks so far.

Looks like the weather is gonna get bad after today so we are heading home this evening. Fished yesterday late afternoon and evening. Caught several on an 16 black body soft hackle below the gauge house and then worked up to the spring and caught a couple on a Griffiths gnat. Gonna fish today while the sun is out and let the popup dry out.

Made it down last night and got set up in c 5 number 517. So far no fishing and I'm planning on going out this evening. Nap time for now. I plan on leaving friday so plenty of time. Popup air conditioning is wonderful. Seems really humid today. Anyway I'll post later.

Sounds like a freat deal. I assume they are slower and requires you to slow your stroke down.

WOW sounds fantastic. I always wanted to build a bamboo rod. I think you can take a class some place. Since tomorrow is my last day working I was planning on heading down next week but the weather looks pretty crummy. I might wait a week.

NoLuck, I hope I can get down there in August. I'lll try to plan for it. Maybe spend the week! 2 days 2 1/2 hours to go go working. I really wanted to get down th Bennett next week but I may get held up a couple of days.

Thanks so much for the info, Pat. I've been getting the Pup ready today and took a nice trip to Camping World east of Kansas City to give them some money. Main reason was to get a BAL leveler I hear so much about. I will follow your suggestion on the sites. I am so friggin ready to go! 4 more working days. I hope we can all get together sometime this summer.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably be down the second week of June. I'll try campground 5 I guess...or checkout 1. It's been 30 years since I camped at Bennett. For hookups I need 110 and access to some water. I'll carry some onboard. Is is usually easy to find a spot during the week?

Great report FFF. Guys, I have 7 days left before retirement today!!!!! It was a little sudden as our company is doing really bad and 81 people out of 100 are being layed off and I am one of them. Luckily for me the timing could not have been better. Got layed off, payed the house off, and turned 67 all in the same week. I am ready to NEVER work again!!!! The wife and I decided it would be nice to get some type of camping vehicle again so I found a 2010 Coachman popup in great shape. Air, furnace, 3 way fridge. Been used twice. So my old Dodge van will go back in service and we plan on some trips to Bennett and other trout streams and places. I have been thinking about this for ever a year and we finally decided since we won't be working we can go during the week and NO rushing around to get back to work. That was always the worst part about camping. I had a travel trailer for years at Truman lake on a lot but sold it 13 years ago. I still have a bass boat stored there. Soooo I'm planning on hitting Bennett probably the second week of June or so. Anyone down there i will now be driving my Dark green Dodge custon Van I affectionaly call "The Shaggin' Waggin'. I have plans to head to the Norht Fork of the white River, Tanycomo, and NE Iowa in the driftless region. Hap at Cablea's says I really need to go there. 72 fishable trout streams! In 38 years here at work I have been able to take a weeks vacation 3 times. Mostly 1 or 2 days off at a time. I am so ready to get out of that trap. I will probably take my cheapest fly rods if I am going to break them slapping snakes!!! God, I hate snakes

Smaller fish? Time to break out the 2 wt! Seriously, I have fished a Colorado stream years ago and a 10 inch Brookie was a nice fish.

I'll always love the place I learned to fish at as a kid. To many good memories I guess. I have not been down in 7 months , I guess, so things might have changed.

Sorry to hear you are working so hard!!! I guess somebody's gotta support me in my old age 30 Days and counting until retirement. I guess I'm due. I worked to 67 and that is longer than I thought I would. I just got back from a Cardioscan this morning and it's look like I'll live to fish a little longer!
