  1. I'll be down Sat. in my little silver hatchback Yaris. Looks like an egg so you can't miss it. Stop and say Hi. Got a couple of new Midge colors I want to try. I have some beetles I tied from Tim's recipe last year I have never tried. I usually always pick up a couple or a few on drys up by the spring in the evening. Sometimes swinging a softhackle up there in the evening is very productive.
  2. Very COOL!
  3. I'm wonder if there is any hopper action going on? I was thinking of trying a hopper and a midge dropper.
  4. I'm planning on heading down myself with a friend who has not fished Bennett for years. I'm wondering about the weather now!! I was planning on heading down early Sat. morn.
  5. I have a 2 wt. Guess it will come in handy! Is Montauk better for fish quality?
  6. That sucks!
  7. Families should have fun together but the kids bank fishing in zone one is not great deal. Whe the kids are back in school it will be much better. I imagine it's thinning out some now. The last 2 weeks in Sept. and Oct. should be beautiful. I seem to make a trip every year on October.
  8. You catchin' any yet?????? Garlic Cheese???? Power Bait???? Red Wigglers??? : )
  9. Let us know how the fishing is!!! ... maybe a pic or two?
  10. I know I'm missing out!!! Hopefully wen can get together this fall. I'm taking the Granddaughter to Truman Lake next week for some swimming and crappie fishing. I still have a boat down there since 1985. She is 6 1/2 now and really getting into whatever I'm into. Haven't stuck a fly rod in her hand yet! My last experience with that with her father at that age ended up with me a hook in my neck! Ouch! You guys have fun and enjoy some barley pop for me.
  11. I'll head back down after the kids are in school. It was pretty crowded even in zone 1 two weeks ago. Lots of little ones fishing from the shore and such. Nothing against that just not the best situation. They deserve to fish too. I helped one young girl net a nice trout because she did not have her net. I stll think i'll wait unitl it's a little less frustrating to fish.
  12. LOL!... Cool but Stinky!
  13. Excellent!!!! I was down Sat. at 9:30 and started up by the island. Pretty SLOW for me. Caught 5 all day on assorted midges and Dry. Only fished a few hours but pretty slow. I think I should have moved more.
  14. Thanks tO all for the help. We'll be heading down soon I hope.
  15. I'm heading toTruman lake for a few days stay and my 6 year old granddaughter. I'm thinking about taking her to Bennet for the day since it's only about an hour away. She is interested in fishing now and can throw her spinning rod pretty well. I've never taken a kid fishing at Bennett in all these years. Do they rent kids waders? Would you suggest zone 2 fishing throwing a rooster tail? Any ideas for success?
  16. I saw him walking around the other day and now I remember he told me they moced him to camping or something.
  17. +1 on the simontons leaders.
  18. I think that's where the old guy " Hap" at Cabelas goes to also. He loves it.
  19. What Pat said on the poop tank. Just always leave some water in it or you have to dig out the poop with a stick!!! Ask me how I know. I can stiil smell it..yuck Not one of my finer moments. It will be nice to just go down, flip on the elec. and be home. Oh wait...light the hot water...turn on the fridge.. that's about it. I think I would crawl under the thing once you get it parked and leveled and shove steel wool in every place a mouse can get in. Mostly around pipes. I did that and never had mice so I guess it worked. I wish I was retired and fishing Bennett today. Only good news is I'm heading to South Carolina with some buddies to the worlds largest RC fly-in at Triple Tree Aerodrome. Bud Light and tons of RC planes and flying. I'm looking forward to it.
  20. Wow, you're going to really like having a spot and trailer there. No towing or anything. Will you have Elec., water, dump?? We had a lot at Truman for many years with a trailer your size. My son was practically raised down there. Sold it 11 years ago. I still miss my home away from home. Where is the lot? I sure hope to make it to the reunion!!
  21. I remember when you told me about the Flo pink brassie's. I always carry a few for stained water. They worked great. I looks like this might be the year for Glo Balls and Pink Brassies if this rain doesn't stop. Actually that pic in my avitar is from one day I was catching the heck out of them on the Pink brassie. I have lots of glo balls but no true Florescent. They are not quite that bright.
  22. Yeah, right!
  23. Sometimes I have felt just like doing that! At least before I learned about midges from you guys! That box looks exactly like mine. I might have a few more green ones. Sometimes they love the right color green with black wire. Can't remember the Olive i use but it's not the dark olive or yellow olive.
  24. My secret weapon???? http://www.ehow.com/way_5489857_secret-trout-bait-recipe.html
  25. I'm gonna try to make it!! I 'll let you know as we get closer. Sounds like fun. I have been trying to get down there for the last 2 months but weather and yardwork and work has lept me away. WE also have the Grandaughter every other weekend and I love that time with her. I taught her to ride her bike 2 weeks ago and now we are hitting the local bikes paths. She is 6. At least she got me riding again and I hope to get in a little better shape. These desk jobs are killers on your body. I never get enough exercise. My back is OK but starts hurting like hell after a couple of hours in the stream. Standing for very long is just painful. I use a Simms back brace wader belt and that helps....also Excedrin! I think some riding will help also to strengthen the back and legs.
