  12. I got down Sunday about 1:30. Started fishing zone 2 and met NoLuck. Rich and I talked awhile and he even let me touch his 3wt Winston He was heading home and I went back to fishing. Caught a very few the rest of the afternoon until 7 when I quit. Monday morn I started a the siren up by the island. Could not keep them off a John Deere! Stopped counting at 20 but the fishing was great. drath and FlyFishnFool showed up and introduced themselves. We chatted and fished for a couple of hours. Olive Midge size16 was good after the John Deere quit working. About the time we quit fishing JJTroutbum and his dad showed up and we visited awhile and split up. I was great to meet you guys and I centainly enjoyed the company. JJ, his Dad and I fished below the bridge in the afternoon for awhile. I was standing on the rocks on one side of the stream drifting an olive midge and a sz 20 red brassie dropper. A nice Brown hit the dropper and hauled butt up stream. I could see the gold flashing as he headed up stream and it looked like a 3 lb or so fish to me. He headed back down stream towards JJ who was in the waster but on the opposite side of the stream. I should have asked him to net him as he went by if I knew what was going to happen next. He headed back out in the middle...got into some moss..and entered the early release program. The tipit broke 3 inches above the fly. Not sure what happened. Sure was fun though. I celebrated by eating a large portion of JJ's cold watermelon after we got out of the stream. Man, that was a good watermelon!..even though we had to cut it up with my dirty filet knife. I left shortly after that and made several stops on the 3 hr drive back to KC to relieve myself from the watermelon It was a great 2 days for me and it sucks to be back at work today. I need to retire. BTW, Sorry to FlyFishnFool. His Ford truck was broken into at the store before the siren on Monday morning. They got some stuff and I'll let him elaborate if he wants to.
  13. I have a chest pack...no vest
  14. I'll be up at the spring in the evening guys. Drath, I'm a little older dude as you can tell from the avatar but young at heart! I'll look for the floppy brown hat. Light brown or dark brown.
  15. OK PC and Drath, You talked me into it. I plan on staying at Sand Springs Sunday night. Driving my little Silver 3 door Yaris. Looks like and egg, you can't miss it. Green hat says GASTONS. Mike, do you stil have the REd truck?
  16. I want to go to Bennett Sunday and Monday but there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Would you: A. Wimp out and stay home. B. Go fishing and take my chances with 40% chance.
  17. Yes, their warrenty is not so wonderful if they were to stick by the 1 year only. In my case they were very lenient. Most of their more expensive rods do come with 25 year warrenty though. The Traditional II is 109.00 rod. 1 year warrenty and to add an additional year of no questions asked replacement was 17.99. I passed on that. I got the rod in a package deal so I paid far less for it. If I were going to buy just a rod I think I would find a more expensive one on sale with a better warrenty. I centainly have some piece of mind that the Sage Vantage I just bought has a lifetime warrenty even though it cost some for replacement. I did learn a valuable lesson I'll pass along... I was hung up on a lily pad and tried to yank it loose buy yanking the rod several times like I would do with my bait caster. I have done this many times because the pond is full of lily pads. This time on the 3rd yank the rod broke. I think maybe the 8 wt line slapped it and that's where it broke. Just a guess. Fly shop guy told me to point the rod at the snag and pull the line to release the fly or break the tipit. It works. Also you can try to roll cast it off the snag. (except lily pads, never works for me). So lesson learned. That is the first rod I have ever broken like that so now I'm a little skittish about taking my Sage out of the case!
  18. Cabela's latest policy is a 1 year warrenty on their products unless stated otherwise. You can buy an extended warrenty if you want. So my Traditional II rod ran out about a year ago. That being said, they gave me a new rod with no problem. I also start all over with the one year warrenty as if I just bought it. More than fair to me!!! I did have the receipt so that might have helped. This was all done at the customer service desk. The guys in the fly shop don't have anything to say about it. The days of no questions asked replacement forever are over, I guess, on Cabela's products BUT I was treated MORE that fairly. Sorry about getting this thread off track.
  19. Thanks. I'll stop by tonight at the KC Cabela's and see if they agree.
  20. Does anyone know Cabella's broken rod return policy! I broke my Traditional II 8 wt last night setting the hook on a lilly pad. It is 2 years old. Am I screwed?
  21. Just FYI to anyone... I'm planning on heading down to Bennett Sunday and and getting there about 3. I 'll fish Monday also (the 28th) I'll be in the Silver egg car (yaris)!!
  22. thanks Rich!
  23. I'm going to tie more CB's. I'm going to tie some beadhead to try also.... now where did I put those Turkey rounds? NoLuck, Would a black beadhead, medium moss green body, with a little flashboo tail be about right for the olive midge? I think you showed me that midge you tie once.
  24. I thought Turkey rounds was something that happened at the Thanksgiving dinner table! I'll have to look it up.
