  1. has anyone experinced the winter river walleye fishing around grafton and alton area?
  2. was wondering if there was any walleye in the alton-grafton area. also was wondering if the fish was seasonal and pass through or stay around year long. and no im not going to fish the alton dam and lock. also if no walleye at all in the summer what would be the fish to target?
  3. going crappie fishing 2mrow with gpa . im thinking aboutlake 37 and still debating to get minnows or just have the jigs in the tackle box. would love to get some tips for these summer slabs. leaving at 9am ..... il check if anyone has posted before i leave.
  4. i like your thinking gavin
  5. im fine with your opinion .. next time u catch one on the fly rod make sure it is realesed where u got it from. same with catching bait.
  6. could anyone throw some tips out there for me. i havent been doing to good figuring out the summer pattern for crappie. usaly fish jigs, but thinking about switching to minnows. lake 37 looks like it would be good for crappie fishing, but i have only crappie fished at busch a few times with no luck. also wonderd about the minners at the office, last time i purchased them they seemed to be pretty large and they said they only have one size. if im going to purchase minnows i dont want shad sized for crappie. even though it could have just been a fluke or ran out of meduim-small size. lake suggestions would be great "prefer boat lakes" plan to pick the coolest day i can get during the week "16 years of age and un employed =D" heading up to busch every moment i get the chance to before getting a job and going back to school.
  7. have you ever hered of the neighborhood "park charles south" ? they have 3 real good fishing lakes ... one lake has a catfish derby every year, then another is known for its big blue gills and 3-5 pound bass.
  8. i belive they have a certain season for the muskie. if i rember right somtime in winter like feb? when they take people out to go fishing for them or somthing? makes u pounder because you cant rent any boats during that time of year, yet you see the pics of people catching muskie on lake 35 in winter while using a boat idk?!? I would loveeeeee to get more info.
  9. heres the biggest of the 5 bass
  10. i agree with flyfishmaster. there is sections. last time i was there you payed for catch and realese "flys only" or you keep EVERYthing you catch, catch and keep i belive allows trout worms. i had success on orange trout worms. but if u do plan on doing catch and keep, and you do decide to throw a small one back or what not be aware before you do, they have atv's running through watching you everyonce in a while. also note catch and keep you pay by the pound. better off just calling for all the info
  11. went up to lake 35 yesterday morning with spottey showers off and on. the bite was pretty good on top water baits. i cought four 1+ pound fish and one 2.6 pound " in pic" i cought the 2.6 pound bass on a green buzz bait casting out from the renting boats. i had a boat key for the day but found myself comming back after 5 full mins of in the boat because of the lighting near by. but i did get out in the boat and fished the point and cought 2 back to back cast on a buzz bait. later in the day when the clouds seem to calm down i went out and searched for fish in the boat with a fishfinder. i found them stacked up on deep weed lines, but could not catch any. could not get pics to upload.
  12. i dont understand the whole dough bait haters club just because you guys are die hard fly fishermen. you should respect others. also dont post anything if it isnt helping or answering the topic. had to get my words in. but heres a simple dough bait= bread cream cheese garlic salt add little water till you get it the right texture. i dont spin fish much but have had success on this dough bait . also would like to hear some other recipies people have come up with. also have checked the fly recipie in the forum and nothing to be shown about home made dough baits.
  13. went out fishing at 8 am on lake 33. bass fishing was slow. cought a few 12-14 inch bass on a black buzzbait casting at flooded timber. water was pretty murkey compared to the other lakes there. my gusee is because the lake has a creek dumping in to it. I also did see on person go out and catch a couple on tubes, also throwing in the flooded timber. I did try throwing a caralina rigged 9inch worm, no success. also fished the mouths of coves and deeper water as the day got later but no fish. still was happy with the trip even though there was more fish to be cought. thats just how it goes somtimes.
  14. just got my licenceand I want to do is go out and hit a lake that has a boat probley lake 34 and rig dads trolling motor on it. just wondering if all you have to do is have them hold on to your licence and they return it when u give them the key? I rember the price being between 5-10 dollars. got to fish all I can before i get a job this summer.
  15. does anyone no why lake 33 is shallow EVERY where on the lake? it makes fishing tough cause you dont have any change in the water. i have always just fished structer on the lake and havent had any sucess with any bass. I know they are in there, you can see the photos of all the monster bass pulled out of the lake at the bait/rentle shop."w.e. you call it"
  16. i was fooling around with my fishing tackle and came up with this new rig. i was sorting threw the colorado blades as i looked up at my pole with a 4inch senko that i use for thepond in backyard. gave me the idea of putting a colorado blade with some beeds on a leader. now when the wacky work falls, it doesnt just have its normal fall, it will have a flash as if a minnow was chasing it. so i tried this outback at the pond in the murkey water witch earlier that day i didnt catch more then 2 on the very same senko. so i went out back for about an hour or so, and cought atleast a douzen fish. i dont think the time of the day had a factor either because i went out at the hottest time with the new rig. i can now see this being very well fished on some major lakes in the middle of the day when bass are fussy, and the normal shacky head or sinking worm is not cutting it. can take a pic if anyone would like to see it.
  17. just like some info about walleye fishing, where to fish for them and what rigs to use, {plan on purchasing gulp alive tub, either leechs or minnow} also might do some crappie fishing .. all help would be great! first time long branch lake trip also using a sport jet boat to fish out of =[ no trolling motor. i have a feeling spooking the fish is all were going to be doing.
  18. how did the tourny go?
  19. has anyone used the new berkley gulp alive-leechs (3-5inch) minnow(3inch) i hear its fantastic for many species of fish. but thats how all bait is advertized right? jw your opinions about the bait. thinking about purchising 3inch or 5 inch leechs for walleye fishing at some lakes in northern missouri. ~kevin
  20. a fantastic bass fishery, just off hwy 94. A great population of other species like crappie, catfish, carp, whitebass, bluegill, and stock trout in the winter. Also you dont havto be stuck on the shoreline fishing if u dont wanto. you can rent a 12 ft metal flatbottom boat for a few bucks. located in st.charles right by francis howell high school
  21. what would your price range be? family is thinking about getting a new boat, not sure yet though.
  22. i personaly think that this would be a pretty active thread. even if only a few spoke up here more will find the thread and post better reports then the state wide report. any chance its going to be put up?
  23. looks like a great deal for all the matierals you get. are u trying to sell, or asking if you should take the deal ?
