There is a decent chance you will given the amount of water we have gotten, but coming of a flood like that, there may well be tree blockages and that being the least traveled section, there will likely be no reports by then.
-
Great report, glad you got through the storm ok.

If smallmouth is the primary target, starting at Cane Bluff would be the best bet, but it would only give you a quarter mile of trout water at the end of the float, though that float (Cane Bluff to Greer) would be in line with the distance you cover on the Current. Add 5.5 miles and float the rest of the blue ribbon area to Turner to get more trout water in. Call 417-778-6497 and I can help you plan it, get canoes or set up a shuttle for you.

The race went well. Winning canoe time from Greer to Riverton was 3hr 17 min for tandem and solo was 3 hr 19 min 18 sec. The band was great (Deep Fried Squirrel), Schlafly beer was great, BBQ was good, and we raised $3600 for the Greer Mill restoration. Everyone had a great time and we will be doing this again next year, though maybe at the end of Sept rather than in the spring. We lucked out with the weather and the odds of a rainy day are less in the fall.

The Great Eleven Point Canoe Race is happening in the morning. We have a couple of last minute openings if anyone is interested. Call 417-778-6497 today if you want a spot. We are raising money to help restore the old Greer Mill. We are having a party after the race with a band, BBQ and Schlafly beer/soda. There will be a raffle as well. The party starts at 5pm and you can come for a suggested donation of $20 to the Greer Mill. You need to call today if you want to race though.

They said it would take 24-48 hours for it to be up and running again on all servers. Sucks

Brian Wise And Allen Fly Fishing
Brian Sloss replied to DaddyO's topic in North Fork of the White River
That is great, but you might want to let Allen know that Gainsville is in Mo not MS -
Yea, it would have nice if they had told me it was about to expire, I paid it like 5 years in advance and they never let me know it was due to be re-uped or if they did, i missed it. Thanks for the heads up.

Heal up soon John

What do you mean? www.11pointcanoe.com is still up and running, it is my business website and I just checked it when I saw your post to make sure the server was not down or anything and it loaded just fine.

Thinking of visiting my brother who has a weekend place in Seabrook, TX in the Houston area. He does not fish. Can anyone speak to the fly fishing options in the area? Thinking Redfish? Good guides in the area that do fly fishing first and foremost? Can only do a trip from Nov-Mar.

Dry Fly Fishing Mecca!
Brian Sloss replied to Justin Spencer's topic in North Fork of the White River
Yesterday was an absolute blast, coming from a river that has even less of a reputation for dry fly fishing. I can't remember the last time I was able to fish dries for what amounted to the whole day! Get after it while it lasts. -
Wadeing Trip Of A Lifetime (North Fork)
Brian Sloss replied to ruthead's topic in North Fork of the White River
There is plenty of good wade fishing at Sunburst ranch, Blaier bridge, patrick bridge and in front of River of Life. A canoe will get you to more, but you can make a day or 2 of it. Plus Sunburst has access in front of the canoe rental and at another spot further down stream where they have another cabin or 2. -

The band. If we were eating Deep Fried Squirrel it wouldn't be a BBQ

Talked to the forest service today and we are going to need some volunteer labor this spring to move trash out of the Greer mill and dig the basement down about 3 inches. We are going to start on roof repairs and/or replacement soon(this spring, summer or fall) and this fall we are hoping to get foundation work done with an historical restoration company. Nothing written in stone, but this is our general plan for the first phase of the restoration. You can donate at www.friendsoftheelevenpointriver.org or enter the Great Eleven Point Canoe Race to support the cause. To find more about the race go to www.11pointcanoe.com

Unless there are no outfitters, just pay for a shuttle, it will make your life lot easier. Of course I am an outfitter, so full disclosure. Given the hassle and wasted time on both ends of the canoe trip, it is just easier. Plus I have seen people bring 2 cars from 200 miles away, costing them more in gas than the shuttle.

Wingnut is generous description indeed. Heard the Van Buren meeting got ugly with a lot of grandstanding. They will be meeting in Kirkwood tonight I hear.

You certainly can't expect the best fishing just because of the guide, but it should increase your odds and you should expect to learn what the fish normally feed on where you are at that time of year, how to fish for them effectively and at the very least, if the fishing is off, learn something to improve your fishing, learn to read the river, knowledge of the river or lake or something. As a guide, I never grab a rod unless my instruction is simply not clicking and they need to see what I am trying to get them to do. One or two casts normally will cover it. I am a big believer in being up front with how the river is fishing before someone drives all the way to see me so expectations should be in line as much as possible before arriving. The fish can at times screw that up, but not very often. It is better business in the long run to be up front if the fishing is off. Might suck sometimes in the short run, but so does having someone in your boat disappointed for 8 hours, because you said fishing was hot, when it was only fair. Setting expectations is very important.

If Justin wants to post some, that would be great, he took the pics

Went fishing with Justin Spencer and his son Eli right after Christmas and the smallmouth were hitting well. Caught most of them on jigs with 6wts under an indicator very close to the bank. The water was up and a little dingy, which is perfect for smallmouth. Should fish well for 2-3 more weeks. I have plenty of openings for guide trips in Jan if anyone is interested. 417-778-6497

I know this isn't a fishing post, but I thought some of you guys would be interested none the less. On April 26, 2014, the Eleven Point Canoe Rental is going to host a canoe race on the Eleven Point river from Greer to Riverton (20 miles). This will be a celebration of our 10th anniversary in business along with a fund rasier benefiting the Friends of the Eleven Point River. The "friends" are working on the Greer Mill restoration and a portion of every entry is going to that project. We plan to have a post race BBQ, live music, beer/soda tent, raffle etc. You can find all the details at www.11pointcanoe.com and then click on the Great 11 Point canoe race icon. This will be a fun celebration for a good cause and I hope everyone will consider joining in.
