  1. what are you gonna tie jj?
  2. i'm game. put me down for a pheasant tail soft hackle in size 16.
  3. that first pic was the background on my comp. my freshman year at college... i lost it when i had to get a virus (and everything else) erased. now i got it back... thanks
  4. if i could build like that, i'd definitely sell a few pieces to support my fishing habit. maybe sell a few around christmas to bring in some extra $ for gifts and such.
  5. thanks. i'm hoping the cdc will keep it in the surface film.
  6. that sure looks sharp. your boy has some talent. has he ever thought about selling his work?
  7. nah, we just have a triple leap year this year. only i don't think most people know about it.
  8. i grew up out there. i haven't been out that way since dierberg swapped it for sorenson's, and i'll never drive that highway again in my life. my dad told me that they flattened the whole thing, drained the ponds, and even tore up the old french fort but they left the sign. progress... excuse me while i go cry. you don't by any chance remember some of the shooters from out there do you? say barron, blubaugh, price, kagle(sp?) among many.
  9. even here in mid-mo, there isn't much in the way of game birds. we have one conservation ground with a huntable quail population, and we will see the occasional covey out in the fields when there's a snow on. pheasants are nonexistent except for the places where they put em out. i've been once with my dad and brother to a place here by fayette and we killed more than we bought b/c there were some extras that others had missed during a continental hunt the day before. the birds were on the wild side, not real wild, but there was a chase to it. sure beat the driving to ks or neb and paying for a place to stay and tags it would have been nice to take a long shot though. if anybody on here remembers pond-fort off n-highway in wentzville, that was THE place in mo for sporting clays and game birds, not to mention turkey, small game and farm-pond fishing.
  10. i have a nikon coolpix l3. i think i dropped it one too many times b/c it takes forever to recharge after a flash-- didn't use to, and i'm starting to notice a short lag time. its a 5.1 megapixel, 3x zoom, with adjustable exposure time. it has a macro-closeup option, and plenty of other neat features. sams club let me trade it straight up for a pentax that got screwy and erased all my spring break pics the day before we came home. i think the actual price was reasonable though. your best bet is to go to electronics stores that have display models out and find one you like for your price range.
  11. uhh........................... sure.
  12. i think they'll survive being shot.
  13. i'm sure that instinct will allow the wolves to successfully hunt and survive in the "wild". just because an animal is domesticated, or bred in captivity doesn't mean that they lose all ability to survive in the wild. national geographic has had several shows about animals bred in captivity being... undomesticated by being taught to hunt by people in ways that allow their instincts to take over and enable them to survive in the wild. in the case of these two wolves, they don't have anyone to teach them to hunt, but i believe they will survive. based on as many animals as our golden retriever used to bring home to show us, i'm positive that without interference from men, the wolves are able to survive by hunting easier prey: small animals, livestock and if they become desperate enough, scavenging dead animals, or raiding garbage cans. its possible that there may be attempted predation on a child, but they'll most likely try to avoid human contact. remember, they were not pets and they most likely do not like people... if nothing else, they probably associate us with cages. if somebody lacks the brainpower to stay away from the pups, they'll likely pay for their mistake.
  14. here is a pic for you. hook: scud hook size 18-20 thread: gray or black 8/0 or smaller tail: lemon wood duck or barred teal flank body: thread wingcase: cdc thorax: superfine dubbing color to match body
  15. quit it... i'm gonna end up buying a pontoon i can't afford and launching it and probably falling out in 4 units...
  16. the wd-40 may be on here already, i didn't take a picture of the cdc ones i tied today, and it won't happen tonight. maybe when i finish clearing more #*%&ing snow tomorrow at work i'll get you a pic. gray works best for me, followed by black... haven't tried anything other than that. a cdc loop wing looks vicious... i can't wait to try it out... poor dumb fish, they won't know what hit em.
  17. oooh... type 2 error, good call... maybe we should do some more studies and make sure the sample is truly random this time.
  18. ahhhh haaa haaa haaaa now if it takes 1 box for 1 duck, imagine what it takes for nature's knuckleball-- the mighty, the nasty, the fun to shoot... the dove all i know is it sounds like world war 14 when the birds get to flyin on sept. 1 i'll never ferget the first (and last) time some retard put me face first in the dirt tryin to shoot a bird no more than 3 steps from me and about the same distance from the ground. ever see a sunflower get shot? i have. add my play by play commentary about how wonderful a shooter i am cause i can burn 3 rounds, reload, and shoot 3 more before the bird ever has a chance to get away from bein outta range and you got yerself one helluva time.
  19. i kinda like that... i'm gonna go make some. it'll probly be this summer before i make it back down... unless me and a buddy decide to cut class one day...
  20. jeremy, do you have any pics posted of those other two you listed?
  21. if you want to get creative, you might try a wd-40 with a loop wing of cdc... never seen that before, but i'm about to get off here and on the vise to see how that looks.
  22. yup... that there deer huntin side of the brain is closely associateded with the turkey huntin side of the brain which become active in mid fall and spring based on the trace of a doe in estrus or the most sacred of sounds, a gobble. in my own studies, i have linked activity in these areas with symptoms such as gettin outta bed 20 minutes after you fall asleep, a sharp decline in grades, wearing clothes you cain't see, furgettin to shave, and an overwhelming obsession with backstraps, beer, and a beard that drags the ground. so far we got us flyfishin deer huntin turkey huntin purdy girl anybody know about a wingshootin side or a mudtruck side?
  23. i'd pay to see a picture of that. the main difference there is the gentleman was able to properly care for and train the cat so that it wasn't a safety issue. the place outside warrenton does not have animals that are tamed and trained in the same way. i never saw the cat. my dad and some of his buddies did up at the neighbor's one night after the patrol cars had begun escorting the children. i personally believe we had it out there because the sheriff's dept. was escorting the kids. had the predator place been able to account for all of their animals, i don't think the sheriff would have bothered with driving 2 miles down a private gravel road every day for about a month and a half.
