  1. I found 63 degree water in the Kings between Viola and Deer Bluff this weekend. Lots of boats out. Had three quality fish Friday evening. Caught a lot of shorts on Saturday and Sunday. Most were right up on the bank. Went out today around Viola. The surface temps were about 59. Saw lots of bass nests formed and saw some males on the nests. Saw one pair of bass on a nest in the back of a cove. Lots of short fish- spots and LMs. The fish were still spooky and hesitant to take a bait. Lots of bumps and short hits. I had over 15 fish on a Slug-go. Lots of fun. Think I'll try night fishing this week when the fish are less pressured. This is the earliest I can recall the bass spawning. Hope it lats a while.
  2. I've been fishing the mid-Kings all week. It's amazing how the water is warming up so quickly. The bass are starting to move into shallow water. For my top 5, I'd use 1. a wiggle wart in bluegill colors, 2. a slug-go and throw it up around any shallow cover 3. a spinnerbait in white with a fairly large silver willowleaf blade, 4. a blue-black jig-and-craw out a little deeper for bigger fish and 5. a clown Rogue in the clearer water. I found 60 degree water this evening and lots of fish were right on the bank and in the backs of coves and pockets. Lots of good action and good quality, too. This is a great time for a big fish. This weekend should be great, although there will be lots of boats on the lake. Good luck, knobbass
