  5. None of the stores up here in KC carry these little plastic worms...Got some orange and hot pink ones while at Bennet Spring last year....don't remember what brand theirs were...found Luck'E'Strike ones at Rogers lures in Liberty but not the bright colours.... Wlamart used to carry some of these little 3.5'' worms but not this year...Found them on the net...anyone know where they are made?
  6. One of my cedar strip boats that has seen several Ozark streams, local lakes and the Little Blue river here in KC... The hull was coated with a graphite powder epoxy mix....Oh and by the way the kayak was made frome old cedar fence pickets I was given.....except for the 2 end decks are cedar from Homedepot 2x4's
  7. Here is an example of how a wood boat wears on rocks.....Quote: After a couple years and several hundred miles of being bounced off rocks pulled up concrete boat ramps landing on gravel bars the T-V needs a touch up on her bottom. Examining the bottom most of the wear was on the first 2 inches of the bow and the last 2 inches of the stern. http://www.southernpaddler.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7177#p70883
  8. Asking $300. it is in great condition....modified for a troling motor... http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/index.php?showtopic=24091 All of the cables etc. have been taken off..just the canoe for sale
  9. You guys and you're PLASTIC ....wood can be repaird super easly...they are lighter weight...and they give American boat builders something to do...
  10. After 3 1/2 hrs of fishing yesterday I realy put to the test....A weight added to the rudder might be a good idea...the bungee tends to add tension to the line when turning.... The rudder works fine without the bungee when using it for a controlled drift while fishing...with just a slight breeze now and then the rudder works like a dream for this application.. just paddle a stroke from either side when stopped and keep on casting because the rudder will take over in the direction of the drift..it is assume.. The adjustible center console works great with the foot pegs..their is 6 1/2'' between the side of the console and the rudder controlls..plenty of room to have the feet on one or the other....
  11. Thanks Jason.....The foot controlls...I attached a bungee to keep tension on the rudder in the down position, just unhook it when in the up position.... Used some PVC with 9/16 ID and some 1/2'' aluminum to slide in the inside. The wood J hooks hold fishing rods and they rests up under the PVC tube...
  12. The quick disconnects I came up with....now foot controls
  13. The Challenger gets a rudder.....I started making a rudder months ago but now I'm finally doing it....I don't know if this looks to big or what....I started out with the idea of spooling the rope in the blade itself, but after examining Gerald's i sandwiched 3/8'' spooled on the side of the blade....It's all Baltic birch except for the blade and a pc. of walnut.... I,m using some small dia. coated cable that was the draw string for a swimming pool cover some 15yrs. ago(never throw anything away)... I need to figure a simple quick-disconnect of the rudders stering.....
  14. Reduced to $450.
  15. I should take closeups of my boats that have slid across rocks....especially the Challenger kayak that saw the little niangua, big niangua, and shoal creek last year....The graphite coating on the hull works wonders......
  16. I found this recipe for a beautiful boat.... This boat is made from "sow's ear" material. I don't think it rates being a "silk purse", but it turned out ok, for what it came from. 2 - 22" cut offs of 1/4" BC pine plywood for the floor 2 - $ 5.00 each sheets of bargin bin Luan Left over 1 X ? pine boards Stems and batter boards made from pine and white oak Swampwood and I logged, and milled ourselvs. 1/2 quart left over varnish 1 - $8.00 gal. of returned paint. Lady at ACE remixed the color for us. Maybe $5.00 glue and ring nails. Total cost less than $75.00. http://www.southernpaddler.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9100&p=90174#p90113
