  1. terry what time I have lost my NAsa page for some reason
  2. I can not find my tracking info page but i am pretty sure it was supposed to track right over us Saturday night.
  3. IMO I would not use since the regional supervisor said he would interpret it as illegal not to say the judge would laugh it out of the court room. Who needs that frustration of all this. I can see how the scent would be covered up with glues and epoxy and what ever else you would want to put on it. Food for thought no pun intended what if we were taking corn and drying it just as a coffee bean is and tied that or glued it to a hook to imitate a body of a hopper or some kind of beetle? I do realize that corn is listed but in a court the prosecutor could show how corn and a coffee bean are the same type of product. Now if it were a good Columbian dark roast I might give it a try I guess I will stick to black foam with a peacock herl body . I know I should have gone to law school instead I bought a fly shop but it does not keep from debating
  4. Hey wait was I fishing I cant seem to remember anything
  5. Well it looks like some one is having fun with my thread with the happy faces It is supposed to read (A)( where the B is the happy face was inserted . Someone has to much time on their hands I have edited twice and it comes back HUM Or maybe it is the same code who knows i just think it is very funny
  6. According to MDC this what they say The code is permissive meaning that if is not listed or excluded it is illegal I wonder how a judge will inturpret the law. Here is the code straight from the MDC Page (24) Flies, lures and baits: The following are authorized for use except where restricted in 3 CSR 10-6.415, 3 CSR 10-6.535, 3 CSR 10- 11.205, 3 CSR 10-12.135 and 3 CSR 10- 12.150. (A) Natural and scented baits—A natural fish food such as bait fish, crayfish, frogs permitted as bait, grubs, insects, larvae, worms, salmon eggs, cheese, corn and other food substances not containing any ingredient to stupefy, injure or kill fish. Does not include flies or artificial lures. Includes dough bait, putty or paste-type bait, any substance designed to attract fish by taste or smell and any fly, lure or bait containing or used with such substances. ( Soft plastic bait (unscented)—Synthetic eggs, synthetic worms, synthetic grubs and soft plastic lures. B Artificial lure—A lure constructed of any material excluding soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined in (A) or ( above. (D) Fly—An artificial lure constructed on a single-point hook, using any material except soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined in (A) or ( above, that is tied, glued or otherwise permanently attached.
  7. I have thought about this all weekend if this is legal above Fall Creek or not. So I called the MDC regional supervisor and he said that he would interpret the law as this the coffee bean is a natural grown substance so there for it would be illegal. We both joked about how it would be like tying a piece of corn on a hook with some feathers. This for Fall creek up to the wire. Below fall creek it would be legal. Just my thoughts.
  8. Glad to hear the report. Fishing has been great for sure. bigdogbbq from KC that must be someone in the Gates Family or at least thats my favorite. Now if we can get bigdogbeer from KC to join in. We will have the feed of our lives next January
  9. Night fishing Has been AWESOME If you want to get down and try it this is the time, they have a very nice pattern going right now with the dam. They have been shutting the water down between 7-10 every night, except fro Wednesday night they ran until 12am. The cable has been fishing extremely well from the south side casting north. Stripping the fly slow then pause it and they hit it. With the moon not coming up until 12-1am I have been hitting the point down to the big hole and it has been awesome lots of nice fish down there when you fish the big hole remember you want to fish it from the south side casting to the north and then work your way down to the rocking chair hole. With the days being very long with day light and lot of beetles and mice every where I have started fishing top water at night and it has been very good Mice, Foam Hoppers, and the good ol' Muddler. Basically when fishing these flies at night you cast it out and make them look like it is swimming away from something. With the Muddler see a a fish rise cast to the area and strip it back about 75% of the fish will attack it. The Mohair Leech in blood red, electric blue and evil leprechaun have been very productive this week. They want it very slow almost at a dead stop. Down at the point we are taking the leech and casting it out as far as we can and just letting it drift down not even moving it . They will either hit it on the swing or hit it at the point where the swing and strip will start. With Taney being very crowed during the day.I have been fishing long leaders 12-15 ft long. IMO I feel that keeps the fly that much further from your fly line and that will improve our your catch ratio. This will be the last report report for a while My wife is pregnant and we had some issues on Friday morning when I got home at 3 am. When we got back home from the hospital at 9 am she is on bed rest until the baby comes. I told her last night not to worry about it I can where all hats and Mr. Mom and husband comes first the fish are always going to be there. Good luck and have a safe night trip here is a fish pic from Thursday night it measured just shy of 22 inches. Tight lines
  10. Wait where have I been I don't remember anything
  11. Got to the parking lot around 10 and fished until 1:30 am, there were a few people to share the water with so Tim and I went to our usual starting place and started working our way down. It was a steady bite but not like it had been the past week. We worked our way down to the Point Still picking up fish. We did not have a fish last night that was over 16" not bad but where did all my big pets go I did see a satellite last night I have not had time to confirm yet, Tim said it might be the space station. Pretty cool watching it go over. Sorry for the short report but I have fatherly duties this morning. Tight Lines Michael
  12. IMO this is a cycle happens all year long, when I see it happen the most is when there is a lot of daytime pressure.
  13. Went down last night with Russ and we were again amazed at the empty parking lots, has everyone forgotten about the jewel here in the Ozarks for night fishing for Trout. We went up and started on the south side just below the cable and worked our way down to the flats. I have no idea how many fish we caught but it was a lot there were times when you wold get a hit on every cast. I will say that here this past 2-3 weeks if you are wanting a full fledge strike then you are going to miss fish the line gets tight or just not coming back in right set the the hook that is a fish. We fished until 1am Blood Red, Mottled Leech, and Evil Leprechaun Mohair Leeches were the colors that we used last night. I feel that we are setting up to have a great fall the size of the fish are awesome right now lots of 17-21 inch fish are being caught at night and I have seen some pics of fish in the daytime that would say the same. Last night the first 7 fish that I caught were all over 17 inches with the largest one right at 20 not bad for the first 20 min. Like I have said in the past I use July and August to judge how the fall is going to be if it keeps this up Becky at the I.G.F.A. better get ready Tight Lines Michael
  14. No but you can call 417-336-5083 and it will tell you if they are or not. 1-4 units 701.3 is no water on and around 712 will be a full 4 units. You can also call the southwest power administration for the schedule 918-595-6779. The second number is just the prediction of the hydro power release from the dams. Hope this will help Michael
  15. Hoppers work great, I use a lot of hoppers down by the Boat ramp then on down by Point Royal. I will also fish them at night skipping them right across the top. Size 10 and 12 tans and yellows Good luck
  16. Glad you had a great night
  17. Better patten that idea I wonder if you could say that was a green idea since it is all naturally made
  18. I have never had a problem with that, because if they turn them on I start moving. When they turn the water on you have about 15 minutes to move on and you will be able to still cross back over. If you do keep fishing and get caught up there move down to the rebar and cross over down in that area. At night it is pretty quiet down there unless Willie is singing in The parking lot. You can actually hear the generators come on line be for the horn blows if you know what to listen for. It just a low groan coming out of the dam. Plus the flow will also pick up since they will actually pull water in to the generators to prime them. I will say this do not wade up there unless you are comfortable and know where you are in the water and never go up by your self. Michael
  19. I was sitting here at the shop and at about 6:30 called my wife and asked if we had anything going on last night, her reply was I don't care if you go. Howard and I met up with Russ and Matt and drove down to the dam, got there about 10:30 and to our amazement we were the only one down there. We had the whole place to ourselves. We decided to start fishing down by the point it was slow down there so we headed up to the cable on the south side and worked our way down to the flats. It was on!! Getting hit every cast, I have no idea how many fish the 4 of us caught way to many to count. we had numerous doubles triple and quads. It was on fire I figured having the place to our selves was a birthday gift from the fishing gods. Then it went into overtime catching a fish on every cast, thanks Potamoi. The fish that we have been catching have been very healthy fish fighting hard and great size. I would say that the number of 16-18 inch fish last night out numbered the 12-15 inch fish by 3-1. The number one fly fished on a floating line with a 12 foot leader was again the Blood Red Leech Here are a couple of fish pics from last night A sweet fish that measured just under 22 inches Here is Russ and Matt showing off what they do best arguing whose fish is bigger hum you be the judge. Tight Line see you guys next week
  20. Terry glad to know I am famous for something I have been talking to Leonard today I got him drinking his special coffee and he told me about some new flies he was coming up with. I already have them in production sorry Leonard you snooze you lose I have been busy thanks Leonard for the ideas
  21. sounds like we will be in harmony
  22. Thanks for the warning, and great idea coming at the first of the month Mr. Beeson will not see it on his CC for 30 days and he will think he bought it
  23. Are there really any new flies out there or just modifications of old flies or maybe there are just old flies that have been forgotten then someone ties something and bam there is is again.
  24. I guess us night guys have finally got back on the good graces with corp, they have been shutting the water off at decent hours. We got down to Taney last night about 10 and after church with Willie we went fishing. Started down at the point and pretty much stayed there all night not catching a lot but did catch a lot of nice healthy fish. Jeremy and I had a very big BS session going and did not really keep track of how many we caught we estimated that we caught about 25 -30 fish. I caught one very nice Bow that was very fat when I landed him he was full of sculpins and was spitting them out. Here is a pic of the fish I have been experimenting with some new material and some patterns the Pattern is a Dr.J and my new favorite color is blood red. I did use Black, and Olive last night but for the past few months I have had the best luck with the blood red. It is an articulated fly with the front hook cut off. Here is a pic of the fly Tight Lines see you all tonight Michael
  25. To be honest with you I have no idea who came up with the pattern, I was out fishing the Upper Missouri 5 years ago and I saw it in a fly shop. Fished it up there caught some nice Rainbows and some nice Browns so I started using it down here. Like I said the one that I tie is with rabbit because I tie them big. The one Leonard ties is with pine Squirrel but no matter if you tie with rabbit or squirrel it is the same fly. Not sure where the Hibernator name even came from that must be a name that Leonard gave it. I really do not think it matters who came up with the pattren I just answered how to tie the fly! Here are some fish that I caught up on the upper Missouri on the fly Tight Lines Michael
