  1. I was looking for a nice cabin to stay at on the spring river in Arkansas or Missouri. My dad and I usually wade and fly fish for trout on the norfork and the little piney. We usually stay at Charlie's on the Norfork, but the lake is really high and will be for the forseeable future. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Sam
  2. How about any Lake Taneycomo cabins?
  3. Thanks guys, I've read lots of good things about ROLF. I was also looking at RockBridge trout resort, but there are no prices on their site though, anyone know how expensive it is? Are there any others anyone knows of?
  4. Ok, so we (Dad and friends) usually go to Charlie's or Gene's on the Norfork, but my dad went last week and said it is totally messed up and they aren't going to stop letting water out of the lake for a while. We were planning on going Aug. 8 for my mom's b-day, but now we are going to look for somewhere else. We fly fish and like to wade rather than fish out of a boat. Are there any cabins that will be open the weekend of Aug. 8 where we can do this. Closer to Branson is a plus so my mom can antique or whatever. (she doesn't fish) Any help is greatly appreciated. Sam
  5. It was pretty clear, but you couldn't see the bottom if it was more than 4 feet deep. I didn't really fish the shoals, so I didn't use any streamers, but was getting fairly regular hits on a nymph in the pools a bit behind shoals.
  6. Okay, trip report: We got to Lane Spring Recreation Area around 10:30 on Saturday, heavily wooded, great place to camp. (The campsites could be a little farther apart, but the heavy woods nearly negate this one tiny qualm.) So we started fishing right down from the site a tiny bit north of lane spring. I caught a goggle eye on a black rooster tail and my friend caught a little smallmouth on a copper john. We went back and had lunch and I decided to switch over to my fly rod. I have fished with it exactly twice and never caught anything. This was soon to change. Second cast: hit, miss. Third cast: landed my first fish on a fly rod, a smallmouth. It was awesome. Over about a three hour period I walked a mile up and a mile down from the spring getting several hits, but only landing one more fish. I caught my second about a half mile south of Lane spring in a deeper bit of water after some shoals. Oh, and the only fly I used was a prince nymph. My dad caught 5 total, including the only rainbow, and my buddy caught 3 total. Great place to go. hardly anyone else fishing the river, very scenic. Th only problem is the size of the fish, but the rest more than makes up for it.
  7. Yea, missouri trout hunter had a wealth of info as well.
  8. Thanks for the help guys. You really make me feel warm and fuzzy about ozark hospitality, hopefully a "good 'ol boy" doesn't make me squeal like a pig.
  9. If I could have a dissertation on the effects of floodwater on the ecosystem below hydroelectric dams that would be great. Try to include at least three pages concerning the particular effects on each species of fish that is stocked in said water. I will make this due.....lets say Wednesday the 23rd. Remember, 15% of the paper is grammar.
