Actually, that was a stringer but it is tied to our basket that we use for the fish. LOLOL I fished from a dock they have at Pin Oak Lake, which is great for old people like me. LOL The catfish was almost 2 lbs.

I went to Shawnee trails Conservation Area and fished the in the Pin Oaks Lake and this was my first fish I caught. I was amazed. I caught him on a small Bluegill, quite by accident. This one was almost 3 lbs and then I caught another Bass that was almost 1 1;2 lbs. My last fish of the day was a catfish, also caught with a small Bluegill and he was about 2 lbs. All in all, it was a very good day of fishing out there. I am not the best at fishing but I do so love to be out doing it and the nice quiet and all.

OK, I saw an access point down off of Hwy M and was wondering if anyone here had ever fished from the banks around that area? If you did, how was the fishing?

How To Hook A Crawdad
Ozark Baby replied to Ozark Baby's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Thank you all for your help. I shall try them and see how it goes when I get a chance to catch a few. -
OK, a couple of the places I have fished I have seen and would have been able to catch a few crawdads. What I want to know is how to properly put them on a hook to use as bait. Can anyone help me out hre?

I Am Dumb And Need Help Please!

I loved that. Thanks so much for the laugh. -
OK, I went fishing the other day at Fellows Lake and didn't catch a fish, all darn day. But, I did catch a rod 'n' reel. The reel is a Shimano 2000. At first I was not able to turn the reel at all. Today I finally around to looking at it and I took it apart and cleaned out the dried mud and such. I put some reel oil I had on the gears and it does turn now. It doesn't turn that smoothly though, in my opinion. What I would like to know is if there is anything that any of you would suggest that I do to make it more smooth in its action and to be sure that it is ready to use for the future?

Looking For Info Please
Ozark Baby replied to Ozark Baby's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Thanks for the link to the map. I now know where to go. How is the fishing off to the right of that bridge, as opposed to the left where the wheelchair access place is with the bathrooms? -
I Am Dumb And Need Help Please!
Ozark Baby replied to Ozark Baby's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
You guys are great but way too technical for me. I just like to fish. I do not put my own line on and would be afraid to even try doing it. I just an old fart who loves the thrill of actually catching something and we do eat much of what I catch, but when we lived up near St. Louis, I used to love just catching and releasing the gar that was found in the Meremac. Thanks for all of your help though. -
Would someone be kind enough to tell me how to get to the bridge at Fellows Lake? I understand that fishing under the bridge is pretty good for catfish and I would like to try it. Thanks for any info. Please understand that I know absolutely nothing about the area so please give me step by step directions on how to get to the bridge. Thanks again.

I will check out the reel as you suggested but I don't put the line on myself. I have it put on at the locval Bass Pro Shop here in Springfield. No, I am talking about a baitcaster. I am speaking about a spinning reel. Thank you all for your help and I will let you know how it goes because I plan on getting some new line and again, letting Bass Pro Shops put it on my reels for me. -
Thanks so much for your replies.

When we moved back to MO I bought to rods, one is just a plain old closed reel for catfishing and such and the other has an open reel and it came with two reels. I have been having trouble with the open faced reels in that no matter what I do I have not been able to cast more than a few times without the line getting all tangled and such. I never used to have trouble with these things and I will readily admit that I am not that great a fishing person but this has been ridiculous, to say the least. I have caught fish, but only with my closed face reel and heavier line. Is there a certain kind of line I should have put on these things that might not get so tangled all of the time and if there is, what kind please? I fish lakes, streams and rivers and always bank fishing and not a professional by any stretch. I really feel like a dummy right now and can't seem to get these reels to work.

Anybody Ever Fish Mcdaniel Lake?
Ozark Baby replied to Ozark Baby's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like a place I am looking for some nice fishing. I am looking for a nice lake or river or stream where my husband and I can go for a day of fishing and have a picnic and such. Got any ideas? I espeically would like to fish for catfish, but also enjoy bluegill. Thanks so much. -
Is anyone able to let me know how fishing in that area is usually? I just happened to find that area by accident and it looks like it would be a nice place during the week when most are working. What say all of you people who know the area?

Springfield Lake
Ozark Baby replied to REF's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Thank you so much for the help. I am not as good at fishing as most are but I just love being able to get out and being around water. It has been a bit over 10 years since I have done any fishing and am so looking forward to it. I will admith though, that I am a fair weather fishing person...meaning that I do not like being out in storms and/or cold weather. LOL I am an older woman and have found another woman in my age group who also likes to fish and also has a husband who does not like to fish. so we are going to go fishing together as much as we can and we want to be safe. -

Thank you so much. One more question...You aren't talking about the yellow area are you? Are you talking about when one comes upon the lak on the right all of those docks and such? -

Sorry but I am new to the area and would like to know where the hot water pool ya'll are talking about is? I only do bank fishing myself because I have no boat and actually prefer fishing on the bank. I am looking for a catfish place for fishing and any help would be appreciated. -
Nice looking fish there! I am wondering how the fishing is off the bank at the Delaware access? I ask this because I don't have a boat and love bank fishing. Any catfish in that river in that general area?

I go by Ozark Baby, as you can see. I used to fish all of the time and then we ended up living in New Mexico for a decade and I did no fishing at all because Of where we lived and some personal issues. Now that we have moved back home to Missouri, Christian Cointy to be exact, I have bought some new fishing equipment, a couple of rods and reels and such. What I am wondering is how the fishing is around Springfield and Fellows Lake around Springfield, MO? I can't say that I specifically do bass fishing at all. I fish for whatever bites my hooks. Basically, I love catching catfish and pan fish but used to fish the Meremac when we lived in Franklin County and used to catch eel and any number of other river fish and stuff. We do not own a boat or anything and I usually do bank or pier fishing. Will I be able to catch anything in either of those two lakes? Hope so because I would like to practice to get back into fishing before I go down to Table Rock Lake. Ozark Baby
