    Southern Rock

You are right, Southern Rock is a dying breed. Any "Drive By Trucker" fans? They are one of the few current bands I know that I would still consider Southern Rock.
  2. Haha! I am getting a little "winded" just thinking about it!
  3. Pat, I like the last picture. Is this where you were trying not to pass out? You defintely need a cold drink after making the walk back!
  4. I am headed to the Keys in a couple of weeks and trying to decide whether to take the fly rod. I am going to be with the wife and won't have time or money to hire a guide. Would it be worth taking the fly rod to make a few casts while hanging out on the beach? I have seen where you can rent kayaks for backcountry float trips. Has anyone fished in this area without a guide? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. Haha! Any plans of fishing anytime soon? I am getting the bug. I would like to hit either Meremac or Montauk in one of next two weekends before the Catch and Release season end. Let me know if you would like to go.
  6. I am headed to Santa Fe this summer at the end of June for a wedding. I am trying to figure out a way to fit in a little fishing and know the San Juan river is not too far away. Has anyone fished in this area? I don't think I will have the time or the "ok" to hire a guide, so any tips, access areas etc would be appreciated.
  7. Dave, If you have any desire to do a shrimp cocktail, I found a great recipe from Alton Brown on the Food Network. You actually "broil" the shrimp rather than boil. This is super easy and just great shrimp cocktail. I don't cook much, but this has become a favorite on the weekends. Check out the link below for the recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-b...cipe/index.html
  8. Will do! Hopefully those lakes thaw soon out at BWL.
  9. Here are a few pics from Monday. Nothing too special, but a little fish porn for your viewing pleasure.
  10. Fished Montauk today from whistle to whistle and had a pretty good day. Caught about 10 in the morning and about 10 in the afternoon. I fished a tandem rig in the morning with a San Juan worm and switched between a zebra midge and a stonefly as a dropper. The afternoon was a little slow and then I caught quite a few in the last half hour stripping a Russel fly. I don't if there is anything more fun than stripping a fly, seeing the fish come after it and then striking it.
  11. The pics look great. I hope it is that warm on Monday! Anything will feel warmer than the past couple of days.
  12. Thanks for the info. Would love to see some pics! Everyone has to learn sometime, at least we will get the spinning rod out of one more persons hands!
  13. Sounds good!
  14. I plan to head to Montauk on Monday (to honor MLK of course). I fished Meramec two weeks ago and the water was up pretty high and murky. Has anyone fished Montauk lately to see how the water is? Any tips would be appreciated too!
  15. The crowds depend on the weather, but are not even close to as busy as during the summer. Last Saturday, there were probably a max of 5 cars in the parking lot at one time. I love catch and release during the winter because you can try some different things and do not have to worry about other people.
  16. I fished yesterday and had pretty good luck stripping cracklebacks. The water was up and pretty murky. I did not have much luck with San Juan worms, but normally I would definitely suggest these if the water clears up. The fish seem to be in pods and I would be able to catch a couple and then have to move on and then come back to it later. Hope this helps and good luck!
