  1. Still got the reels! New lower price on Battenkill is $90 shipped to your door! Or $120 shipped for all 3 reels!
  2. Still for sale, $55 shipped to your door! Its just gathering dust in my closet...
  3. Yes Cole...it dropped...and then it went right back up about an hour before I got off work. Mid-afternoon seems to be the time to go as far as wade-able conditions the last few days. It won't be a long though before we'll see consistent low-water. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut it off this weekend.... Well, we can always dream!
  4. Right on F2F... I live in Mannford and work in Tulsa myself. We definitely need to meet up sometime and do some fishing. I only have 1 fishing partner that actually uses the fly stick that lives close by but he's got a busy schedule so usually I'm flying solo on most fishing trips! Guess it isn't so bad though...I enjoy solitude My 4-wt throws the stuff fine...just gives you a work-out by the end of the night and my 5-wt is a 7'6 mid-flex action rod so it doesn't have much of a back-bone for throwing big stuff and god knows I'm not trying it on my 6'6 3-wt My 7-wt throws it effortlessly though. I do go to 4x at night as well. I'm definitely going to tie up some PMSs in the bigger sizes along with stealing a few of my bigger wooly buggers out of my bass fly box in my other pack...take those too! I'll also make a point to throw those bigger egg-sucking leech patterns I had too.
  5. Sounds like the fishing was good fellas! Wish I coulda made it but the wife and I spent the weekend in Branson for our 1-year anniversary (a little mini-vacation at the last minute!) so I got to fish Taney and had some good fishing there! Loved the night fishing! I'll be in Eureka Springs this weekend for the wife's birthday so I'm out on fishing more than likely Phil. I'm hoping I can talk the wife into going by Roaring River on the way home Monday and do a little fishing. Hopefully talk her into trying fly fishing for the 1st time...she's considering it so we'll see... I'm going to the Current and Taney the last weekend in June if anyone wants to tag along or meet me at Taney...
  6. F2F, where in Oklahoma you at? I can't imagine a 50+ fish trip at NIGHT...that'd be awesome! I really think I wasn't fishing BIG enough bugs to be honest, or I think I'd caught more fish. But maybe the fishing was just off. The stuff I was using was like #10 and #12 buggers and mohairs. I'm thinking I need bigger...I had some big nasty egg-sucking leech patterns in the box but I never got around to throwing them! I'm thinking I might take my 7-wt rod next time and throw some really big nasty bugs at them. My 4-wt Scott doesn't throw the big heavy stuff very well.... F2F, I'm going to TRY and go back to missouri the last weekend of June for some fishing. But I probably won't fish Taney till sunday night because I'm planning on going to the Current saturday afternoon when I get off work, fish there all day sunday and then head to Taney that night. But who knows...just see how it plays out!
  7. You were there this weekend Gregg? You shoulda dropped me a line and we coulda met up and did some fishing! I never ventured above outlet #2...I'll have to give it a shot next time. Was it good up that far?
  8. A little fish porn for you guys....
  9. The wife and I decided friday afternoon to take a little mini-vacation to Branson for the weekend so we left out saturday afternoon after I got off work. After a pit-stop in Springfield for a few flies (thanks BackCountry Outfitters) and some dinner, we arrived in Branson around 9:00 p.m. 6/6 - Night Trip I got down to the dam around 11:00 p.m. saturday night and there were several cars in the parking lot. Was any members of OAF there saturday night? Got geared up and walked in @ Outlet #2. This was my 1st night fishing experience on Taney and I hadn't fished Taney in over a year so it was an interesting experience figuring out the way the river was laid out. I walked down and fished the area below Rebar for the time I was there. Ended up catching 6 rainbows on mohair leeches in purple and blood red. Shoulda landed more fish but I missed lots of strikes and had a few LDRs...it was quite frustrating. I was surprised on how violent the strikes are at night. I left at 1:30... 6/7 - Mid Morning The plan was to get up at 5:30 and be on the river at 6:00 but due to a fussy 6-month old baby, I didn't get much sleep so I slept in. Got down to river around 10:00. Lots of guys on the water already. Again, I walked down and fished the area below Rebar the whole time I was there. I started with a brown san juan worm w/ a tan scud as a dropper and never needed to change. I caught 12 'bows along with a few LDRs. Had a great time. The fish were 50/50 on the san juan vs. the scud. It was basically every other fish. Everyone was catching fish....I called it quits at 12:30 and headed back to the cabin for lunch! 6/7 - Night Trip Went back up to the dam around 10:00 p.m. and had the whole place to myself. It was really nice to have the whole trophy section to yourself. Well, I didn't see any other cars or headlamps so I'm guessing I was alone. I fished the Big Hole area with purple buggers and mohairs till 12:30...ended catching 7 'bows and still missed a ton of strikes. I think I was pulling the bug out of the fish's mouth instead of just raising the rod. The violent strikes made me think of bass fishing so I was setting pretty hard. It was a beautiful night with the full moon. I AM HOOKED ON NIGHT FISHING! 6/8 - Morning Fished from 7:00 to 8:30 in the area just below Rebar again with the brown san juan w/ tan scud and caught 8 'bows. The fish seemed pretty lazy this morning on eating the bugs...I lost a bunch of fish right after hooking up and I wasn't setting hard. Had a great time fishing... I'll hopefully be back in a few weeks for some more night fishing...I am hooked!
  10. Awesome fish Jeremy! I never made it above Outlet #2 this weekend...always fished downstream of it, I guess I shoulda went upstream, ha! I didn't think there would be any big browns that far up river this time of year?
  11. I checked the water today and noticed they've been turning it off in the mornings. No generation scheduled for tomorrow. I'd love to come out but I'm heading over to fish Taney for a couple of days. Let us know how you do... Also, Zach, do some looking around for any signs of stripers in the area if you don't mind...I really want to come check it out sometime but I'm bringing my 4wt and my 7wt to cover a few species
  12. Making a trip out to Taney for the weekend, we'll be leaving tomorrow when I get off work. Staying till monday morning so I plan on fishing saturday night, sunday, sunday night, and possibly monday morning. The weather looks good and we've got a full moon so night fishing should be superb, I hope! If anyone is going to out on the water, drop me a message on here, especially if you're going night fishing at any point over the weekend! I'll be in a black quad-cab Dodge truck...dark tan waders, fishpond pack, and a green Scott fly rods hat!
  13. Definitely fish those 1 or 2 holes just below tan vat with that big streamer...the water is deep enough that I know there's gotta be some big browns cruising in there at night to feed... Has to be!
  14. What are you doing Zach? Why are you going to the Czech Republic?
  15. Glad to hear that my advice paid off for you! That is a really nice section of water up there...I could spend probably a whole day up there if I really took my time fishing it! I never made it past the bend in the river right above that really "rocky" section in the river. How did it fish up above, closer to the park? Glad to hear you caught some fish on dries too...always the best way to do it! I can't wait to get back up to the Current. I almost drove up saturday afternoon when I got off work, I had all my gear packed but decided against it with the weather and everything.
  16. If the Arkansas proves to be un-fishable tomorrow due to generation and they do actually cut the water at Tenkiller, I'm going to head that way! I'm going to check generation first thing in the morning and make my decision. If anyone from the Tulsa area wants to go...give me a shout. If anyone is going to be out there...I'll be in a black Dodge quad-cab 4x4. If you catch me out on the water, I'll be in a dark green OSU hat wearing light tan waders and a green fishpond pack! Shoot me a message on here if you're thinking of going...
  17. I hate to say it, but I'd have to agree with you Steve. Looks like they forgot to turn off that last generator today...freakin' stinks! Its holding steady at 13,400 cfs, like it has all day today! Stupid... Nice lil' mess of bluegills you got there. Never had bluegill...always heard they had too many bones! We always eat crappie as far as fish...every now and then, we'll throw down on some catfish. Well, I'm going to cross my fingers that they shut the water off at the lower illinois tomorrow. I'm going to check it first thing in the morning and see what the generation is...if it looks promising, I'll head that way! If anyone from Tulsa wants to join me...send me a message on here!
  18. This sucks...really really sucks! I got up early this morning to make sure and pack all my gear before I headed off to work too. Oh well...cross my fingers and hope tomorrow pays off for us!
  19. Right on Steve...if you go out to Zink tomorrow, drop me a message! If its not wade-able at Zink, I'm thinking I am going to sneak over to the lower illinois and take both my 4wt and my 7wt. If I cant get into any trout, I'll see if I can't chase some stripers!! Yeah, I've been checking the USGS website...still rolling at 13,200 cfs, sucks!
  20. Who's down? If the water is shut off all day and offering prime wading conditions....I'll be at Zink around 3:30 if anyone wants to join in on the fun! Crossing my fingers they stick to the projected schedule!
  21. Does that mean you can't get thru the park to get down to the Tan Vat access points? I mean, if they are still fish-able in the next day or two?
  22. Thank you sir! You've been a great help!
  23. I would be fishing the Tan Vat area mostly...I wouldnt float or fish the lower river. The farthest down the river I'd go would be Baptist. How does that translate for river that far upstream from Akers...
  24. Just curious how the Current River is? Is it high and murky? Or is it blown out? It's showing a forecast of rain for the weekend...what does that look like?
