  1. Thanks mixermarkb, I'll give that a try. Also, on board charger was replaced 2 years ago as well. Would also consider trading it for a river boat with motor or a camper/trailer.
  2. 1994 Champion DC Contender, 18'4" with a 1997 Johnson FastStrike 150 hp motor with a jackplate. Trolling motor, batteries and trim motor replaced 2 years ago. Trim motor doesnt work again, hoping its just a wiring issue. Livewell doesnt work and the graph is on its last legs. Very fast boat. Can be seen at Tracey Ferry Marina, all the way in the back on the end slip. 3500 or best offer.
  3. Anyone know of covered boat slip for yearly rental in the Oakland area ? I have an 18' Tracker Targa and a 2 tank lift. Thanks
  4. Call Greg at Hand Cove Resort, 870-488-5367. Hes across the lake from Jordan Marina, a great guy.
  5. I like wally pop harnesses. Try casting a shorter harness with a Dan Gapen Baitwalker if youre on the bank.
  6. My friend lost a Quantum EXO PTI 25 and and a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth spinning rod in between Teal point and Mallard point at the entrance to the bay. If anyone should snag it, please contact me here.
  7. LOL, well if you go out with the right guide a few times, he might let you follow him around.
  8. I am by no means an expert but I have spent a lot of time with the best striper guide on the lake.Reel your boards in and remove them, you don't want that board knocking the hook out of the stripers mouth.I usually use the biggest shiners I can get and weight them down with a split shot in the spring. In the summer the stripers are deep so I would use a bigger weight and fish them straight down. You can also use balloons in the spring. Also, join the Lake Norfork Striper Club, lots of nice guys with a lot of good info. They also have tournaments every month. The easiest striper fishing for me is during the full moon in May. I tie a zara spook on one rod and a jigging spoon or a fluke on the other and wait for them to surface feed. I go down the center of the lake or creek arm and wait for them to come up and then I move into them SLOWLY with my trolling motor. The other tip is look for where all the center console boats are fishing, those are usually the guides, that will tell you where the stripers are.Hope this helps, good luck.
  9. Usually I would recommend Crooked Hook or Hand Cove Resort, but since you are looking for a place that rents boats, I would suggest Teal Point resort. Its close to town and has the best views of the lake. If you do choose one of the first two, tell em Chuck sent you.
  10. Thanks for the info Leslie. Im back home now. Apparently I was fishing too deep for them last week. Sounds like they are now where I was fishing for them. Next time I'm down on Norfork I'll hire you for a day. Lou from Hummingbird mentioned that you were guiding for walleyes on Norfork.
  11. Been bottom bouncing, spooning and drop shotting all week, no walleyes but a lot of big bluegill. Anyone have any advice ? Thanks in advance.
  12. Dave, we switched lakes and will be staying at hand cove resort on Norfork from the 14th-21st. All the resort owners are dialed into the fish through the locals or the guides. We usually get into the stripers on topwaters early in the morning and at dusk. Trolling live shad is the best way to catch em, but you gotta have a cast net and a shad tank to keep em alive, thats why a good guide is so valuable.I'll be in a black Lund Mr. Pike with a white 115 Johnson.I'll post reports here or I'll e mail you. Hand Cove is the closest resort to where the fish are biting now, but there is also lodging available from Jordan Marina and Mockingbird bay resort. I have stayed at many resorts on Norfork and there is only one I would steer you away from, but hes way up the lake anyway. Good luck !
  13. Hi Greg, How are you ? Thanks for the info. I will be on Norfork in July this year. For those of you that are looking for a place to stay, Greg is one of the nicest and most accomodating resort owners on the lake. He is also closest to the hottest fishing spots on the lake.
  14. If you want to fish stripers, go with Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters. He is really on the fish with this high water. Tell him Chuck sent you. Good Luck. I'll be over on Bull Shoals the week of the 14th, but may come over to Norfork for a day or two.
  15. The Basscat Owner invitational has been cancelled but the Cystic Fibrosis tourney has not.
  16. I have a friend that is a guide on Norfork and his clients have caught 40 stripers the last 5 days, with the largest being 28 lbs. I don't know where on the lake he is fishing though.
  17. Great report Mike. I was just getting ready to make a post about the great reports I've been getting from Norfork and Greers Ferry and it being attributed to the high water. I will be at BS 2 weeks from today and I can't wait.
  18. I stay at Black Oak Resort in Oakland. Nicest resort around there, nice dock with electricity and beautiful views from the cabins deck.
  19. I think Lees Lite Line guide service may be what you're looking for. I only fish with guide Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters, but he is mostly a striper guide and also the best one on the lake
  20. Mike, how long does this striper bite last usually ? I have some time off in the middle of the month and am thinking about sneaking down there for a few days, Thanks, Chuck
  21. Yes Martin, same fish. Sorry Mike it was the first week of November, my buddy got a 7 lb. eye the first ten minutes we were out with you on a jigging sppoon.
  22. If there are sheephead in the lake, they will feed on the zebra mussels. The charter captains on Lake Erie used to kill all the sheephead they caught, but when they found out they eat zebra mussels, they now release all sheephead. They also discovered the walleye are actually using the zebra mussel beds as a spawning ground. Mike, it was a blast fishing with you in October, hope to do it again in May.
  23. In October I was fishing off a pier in Virginia and catching speckled trout like crazy when I hooked something with a little more weight to it. As I'm lifting this strange looking fish up onto the pier, I said out loud, what the heck is that ? A local screamed out, don't touch it, it's a stargazer. I get it on the pier and he comes over and unhooks it with my pliers and pitches it back into the ocean. I said what's wrong with it ? He says if you touch it in the wrong place , it will give you a shock. I said thanks and kept on fishing.
  24. Nice fish Mike, looking forward to fishing with you next Sunday.
  25. and eat at Seans Restaurant, great food and service
