  1. I'm looking at the USGS site and it says the Current at Montauk is running at 39 cfs. I can't even imagine it that low. I fish below the park from Tan Vat to Cedar Grove. I was planning to go down early next week. Can anybody give me a report on what shape the river is in and how it is fishing? Greatly appreciated in advance.
  2. Who would have thought my simple little question would have caused so much discussion and controversy! Thanks everyone for the information, concerning as it is.
  3. I would greatly appreciate any feedback in how wading has been during minimum flows. Thanks in advance.
  4. Heading to White/Norfork for a few days of wade fishing, water permitting, around the 4th. Haven't done much mid summer fishing there. Will sulphurs still be coming off then?
  5. Not true that many die every year, geez, come on. You do have to be careful if you are wading and use the resources available to monitor the water flow and you will be fine.
  6. That is a beautiful brown. No offense though man, but a 20" fish doesn't come close to 5lbs, maybe 3.5 or so. The Current has fished great with cicada patterns. I pounded them the past 2 weeks. Took my daughter to the spring creeks Friday and the wild rainbows love them too.
  7. My partner and I fly fished the White last week with the water down. It was fantastic! After the early midge action, caddis were everywhere. We caught hundreds of trout, including some very good ones. I caught a slam 4 consecutive days, with the 4th day including a palomino. It was so nice to wade the White again. If you can get out there, do so. The fish are in great shape, and so is the river.
  8. Forecast for tomorrow is for severe thunderstorms. If these occur the Current will get blown out. Be careful! I'm looking to hit the Current next week sometime. I sure hope it doesn't get blown out. Good luck.
  9. Thought I'd report back. Went to LP with my daughter and her boyfriend. I guided and each of them caught 8 or 9 lovely little wild rainbows. The boyfriend did catch a beautiful 16.5 incher, on his first day ever fly fishing. He doesn't even realize what a nice wild trout that is. The stream was in great shape, thankfully the past wet 3 years have been kind to our little jewels.
  10. Mill and even Spring creek fished much better back in the late 90's. I'm afraid the draught years really took their toll on them. They should come back though with the healthy water of the past 3 years. I think I will hit Little Piney and maybe Mill this week.
  11. I love fishing the wild trout streams of MO. I have caught my share of fish over 15 on them, usually on leeches, buggers, or bunny flies. I'm wondering what you caught yours on?
  12. Black zebra midge, #16 scud hook, silver sire and bead.
  13. At the park USGS is reporting 243 cfs for the Current and dropping. I was thinking of heading down tomorrow. I did ok last year around this time when it was around 200 cfs at the park--not great but ok. Is the trophy section clearing at all around and above Tan Vat at least?
