  1. A friend and I are going to hit Fellows this weekend for Muskies. Going to bring my crappie rod just in case. Has anyone had any luck, or any advice for me? This is my first time fishing for muskies. Thanks a bunch!
  2. That snake is the Northern Water Snake or [i]Nerodia sipedon. It is a non-venomous snake that eats mostly nongame fish and amphibians. They are actually eaten by many of the larger game fish. Consider it a beneficial snake to fishermen. They won't hurt any game fish. They are too slow to catch them!
  3. Thanks for the report, much appreciated.
  4. Anyone know if the marina at Fellows is open yet? Last time I went up there, the marina was closed. Just checking, thought about trying that lake this weekend. Any crappie being caught out there? What about McDaniels? Is it fishable? Thanks.
  5. Went fishing at Fellows this morning. I didn't realize the marina was closed. I talked to someone there at the lake, and he said it has been closed for sometime now. He was not sure why they are not open, or when they may open again. I was really disappointed since I don't own a boat. I tried fishing from the bank with some jigs under a bobber, no luck at all. The water is starting to clear up, and there were a few boats on the lake, not sure how they were doing. A few others were fishing from the bank. It was hard not snagging brush since the lake is so high. Anyone fish Fellows this weekend? What about McDaniel's?
  6. Drove past Fellows today. Looked fairly muddy. I saw a few fishing from the jetty, and from the bank on the east side. Was wondering if anyone on the forum has fished Fellows when it was muddy, and what they were fishing with to catch crappie? I am determined to go, since I don't get to fish nearly as often as I would like. Thanks to all.
  7. Has anyone been by Fellows since we had all this rain? I was planning on trying it out on Saturday, didn't know how the water looked for crappie fishing.

    Fishing The Elk

Is it busy on the weekends? That is about the only time I get to do anything, with work. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the report! Fairly new to the area, would like to fish McD's lake. Where is this bridge, and how do I get there? Are there any other public accesses to this lake? Thanks!
  10. Any recent fishing and floating reports for the Elk river? Was wanting to know where I could rent a canoe, and what the best way to fish this creek? Also, anywhere to camp? Thanks.
  11. Vonreed, Actually I have only been fishing down here a handfull of times, here and there. I haven't lived here all that long, so I haven't had time to venture anywhere and look for fishing spots. But I would love to have someone to fish with. Let me know.
  12. I would have to agree with you, Kat. I don't believe the Conservationist is anti-hunting or anti-fishing. Yes, they have the occasional blunders, like the whole river otter thing...but there wouldn't be a magazine like the Conservationist if it weren't for hunters and fishers. At least not free to MO taxpayers. People also have to understand that MDC is full of a variety of biologists, researchers, wildlife techs, etc,...coming from all walks of life. Liberals and Conservatives. I can't say that the magazine is anti-hunting or ant-fishing at all. MDC needs to make money, so they heavily rely on hunters and fishers to buy permits to keep MDC one of the best wildlife agencies in the U.S. Everyone with a wildlife degree wants to work for MDC, because a person can actually live off a salary from MDC. Other state agencies pay considerably less for the same jobs. I am a hunter, fisherman and a trapper. I personally look forward to the mag every month. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Let me know how you do on walleye if you go to Bull Shoals. My uncle has a Pontoon boat out there near Theodosia, was wanting to find a good place to walleye and crappie fish. Are you from St. Louis and road tripping to the Ozarks, or have you moved down here? I am looking for some fishing partners. Good luck on your trip!
  14. Looks like a great place! My wife isn't quite ready to camp on a gravel bar on the Eleven Point, so this may be a segway. Any suggestions on fishing that part of Table Rock? Should I rent a boat, or can I fish from the bank in that area? Thanks again for the info!
  15. My wife and I are looking for a place to camp in March, preferrably within an hour from Ozark. We would also like to do some bank fishing. Any suggestions? Thanks.
