Sounds like you will have a great time. I wish I didn't have plans or I would meet up with you and help out.
I fished a bass tournament last night so I hope this helps. We caught several bass off secondary and main lake points throwing tubes and jigs. Just slowly work them across the bottom and you should catch some fish.

Those toothy critters are great to eat! I fished Stockton tonight and that was how they were acting with the jig, they picked it up and spit it out before you could set the hook.

Vince,
It's pretty easy. Go N on hwy 65 to Louisburg, turn L (West) on hwy 64 go to the stop sign (road will t), turn right (still hwy 64), go through Pittsburg, as you are leaving town you will see Whites Marine on your left, just past it is Hwy 64B, turn L on 64B. Follow it until the hwy turns to a state park road, the marina is on your right but just keep coming and the road ends in the water. If you need any help just call 417-848-7719.

I don't know anything about hybrids however my wifes uncle has been killing them the last two weeks. All I know is he uses crankbaits and trolls. Let us know how it comes out.
The fishing on Pomme De Terre continues to be fantastic. Put in at Pittsburg State Park and fished brush piles on the Pomme arm. Every brush pile I fished today was a new to me, fish were caught on every single one. Two of us kept 25 keepers averaging 10-11” with some bigger in about 4 hours. We easily had enough fish to finish our limits on the top of the water next to the boat but since we weren’t tourney fishing we didn’t use a net. We also caught 15-20 shorts, 10 green carp and a few white bass.
The brush was 11-25 feet of water just fishing in the tops of them. Started by swimming jigs (exclusively blue/white slab busters) over the top of the brush and then vertical jigging and a few minnows. The brush started anywhere from 2 feet down to 20 feet down, as along as you were in the brush you had an opportunity.
It should be great fishing for the tournament this Friday night, hope to see some of you there.

Two people max in a boat. Weigh 7 fish. Artificial and live bait are allowed. I would be more than happy to e-mail or snail mail you a flier. It's a great time, very enjoyable and you can learn a lot about the lake and other people's tatics. There are always a few who are tight lipped but as long as you are willing to share general info others are as well.

Entry Fee - Boat $20 Big Crappie $5
Come on out and enjoy the tournament on Friday night. This is an excellent chance for those who have never fished a tournament before to get associated with tournament fishing. The entry fee is cheap and the fishing will be great! For those who are not familar with Pomme here's your chance to fish Pomme and visit with others at the weigh in. The people you meet and the information you learn from tournaments are great!
If you have any questions or would like a flier in the mail you can e-mail me at shockley32@hotmail.com.

The bite is on!!!
Fished the Lindly arm today. Crappie are in the brush piles and hungry. We caught 22 in two hours with a 10" average, also caught several throw back and small bass. Nothing spectacular about the size but perfect for the frying pan. Use minnows or jigs and put them just in top of the brush. If the brush is 10' down then fish 10-11'. The conservation has several marked beds so you shouldn't have any problems finding good places. Jig colors - blue/white, blue/white/chart. They would just barley touch your jig or minnow so pay close attetnion and be ready!

Pomme De Terre
Fishing was tough due to high water and stong winds. The fish were willing if you could stay in the right location! It's difficult to stay on top of a brush pile with 15-25 mph winds and large waves.
Most fish were caught over the top of brush in 20-30 feet of water. The bite came when you were right down in the brush. Jigs produced several more bites than minnows. Most the fish were quality and they looked great. The females still had several eggs.
Jigs - blue/white, brown/chart
Water - The Lindly is very muddy however the Pomme arm looks great. Visibility is good from the dam down the first 10 miles. Be careful around mile marker nine on the Pomme arm, there is a bunch of logs and sticks in that area.
Go get 'em!

I have a couple of friends who slayed the crappie up the Pomme river on Sunday. However they quit biting about 10:00. The last two / three weeks I've really hammered the fish on the lake. They are in 12-18' of water 4-18' down. Jig color doesn't matter. Find standing timber or brush piles in the mouths of spawning coves. This rain and front will probably mess them up for a few days.

bclift65706,
Sorry it's been a while. I fish both kinds of beds - the mark beds build by conservation as well as some I built. They both produce real well when the fish are there.
Brad
Hey bclift65706,
Went to Pomme the same day you did. Crappie fishing was excellent the first hour of daylight and then it slowed waaaaay down! Thought I had my limit but got home and only had 13!!! Guess I ran out of fingers. Most fish were on brush piles, right in the middle of the thickest, nastiest, I want to keep you jig sections.
Pomme is a great lake, keep coming back.
