    Fish?

I sure hope so. I am so fustrated that I fired off a hot note to the corp telling them what I thought of this latest draw down. The lake was stable at 660 and there is no threat of flooding at that level. It would have to rain an awfull lot to cause trouble from that level. I have some smiley blades coming soon. Think I will try some of them. Do you have any special way you tie your rigs? Thanks Lonnie

    Fish?

Has any body caught any thing? Is the lake draw down what is killing the bite? I haven't caught anything until about 1 hour before dark. Seems like they have lock jaw till then. Even the blue gill won't bite during the day. Guess I am going to have to start using live bait and slowing WAYYYY down.
  3. Every body must have fallen non hard times like I have or keeping a deep dark secret. 2 LMB shorts is all I had to show for 4 hours trolling Wed. The lake is so low that all kinds of things are sticking out of the water. Day lite hours only for me from now on.
  4. Stockton, Truman and Bull Shoals lakes are so much alike but the fish act different in each lake. All the lakes are man made, deep and have clear water. You check the crappie fishing on Stockton and the fish in Bull Shoals are doing something completely different. It would seem to me that since the lakes are so close and simular that they fish pretty much the same but they don't. Would one of you guys that know about this please explane it to me? Thanks Lonnie
  5. Thanks Mike. You are one of a kind.
  6. Wife and I went yesterday. We didn't knock'em dead but did catch a few. The last hour before dark she caught 3 nice blur gills, then it was my turn and I caught one. We stayed till dark and were trolling around a point when I caught a 221/2 in walleye. Than just a few seconds later I caught a 14 1/4 in brownie. Turned it loose cause I don't keep them even if they are legal size. Today was feathers, Caught one blue gill the several LMB shorts and to top it off 4 gar about 4 ft long. At least I got a good pull on my line. Some eating fish later I hope. Where are the crappie?
  7. I fished Hogan Creek area yesterday. The point at Barn Cove. I marked all kinds of fish, hundreds of them They just wouldn't bite. They were from 10 ft to 36 ft deep. I talked to some other fisherman and the were trolling cranks. They were having poor results too. I started out pulling my favorite cranks and didn't get a bite. I tried jigs with no results. Then I went to bottom bouncers with a slow death hook. Caught 2 shorts, a bluegill, then about an hour before dark a 22 1/4 inch eye. Of course it was on my last night crawler. LOL The clouds had started moving in. I think this was one of the factors that started them feeding too. I haven't seen any crappie either. Haven't talked to any one who has either. Don't know where they have gone. Huge clouds of bait every where. Going to get more worms next time!!!!
  8. fishing must be really tough, what with the few and sad reports coming in. Maybe everyone is chasing deer too. makes me want to wait and pick my days to go. Thursday might be a good one, right before a storm.
  9. what are your favorite colors ? I don't seem to catch anything with chartruse. I use blue and silver or blue and white the most or plain white. It doesn't seem to make any differance which species I am going for. I guess that since most of the bait fish are shad and that is what I try to copy. Any ideas that I might try?
  10. Put in about 7:00 pm. The water temp was 93. Cooled off to 91 after the sun went down. Big Deal!!! Caught 2 LMB shorts trolling with slow death rigs and 1 nice blue gill. Found the thermocline, 35 to 40 ft down. Got tired of sweating and guit at 10:00. Going to wait for cooler weather after my wife"s vacation. Then I will get serious and leave some sore lips there when I leave.
  11. I tried out a new style of hook for me. Slow Death They worked real well. Was trolling for eyes but got these instead. One is 20 1/2 in & the 0ther is 22 3/4 in. Saw them on the bottom about 25 ft down and marked them. First time through I caught the small one. the second time I caught a short and threw it back. Figured they couldn't all be bass so made another pass. Caught the big one. Gave up on the spot. Didn't catch another fish the rest of the day.....

    Striper

    Bet he had FUN!!!
  13. I am fishing from Hogan Creek down, mostly in water from 20 to 32 ft deep, looking for eyes and crappie.
  14. Caught by a man and his girlfriend in the Missouri river near the Columbia Bottoms. That thing is HUGE!!!!! 130 lbs!! It is on the net already.
  15. Where is the thermocline? I haven't seen it year this year. Or I may have the sensitivity turned down too low. Are they moving too much water to let it set up? I like to use it to give me a depth to start at.

    Thanks

Packersooner Thanks for your help. I hope you guys did better than I did. I struck out. Not one bite. I forgot my worms so I couldn't spot fish any fish I found. The lake is full of fish and bait balls. I couldn't get any to bite my cranks. Again thanks!!

    Crappie

Thanks Mike. Do you ever long line cranks for crappie? Been thinking about giving that a try also.
  18. Any one long lining cranks for crappie? I am thinking about buying some frienzy shad and trying it out. A guide at Stockton does that this time of year and seems to have good luck.
  19. Any body catching any crappie off the brush piles or are they scattered? On a diet and need some fresh fish !!! LOL
  20. Any body catching any crappie? Are the brush piles working or are you spider rigging? Getting hungry for a fresh mess!
  21. Thanks for your reports. Sure picks up a fellers spirits to know that the fish are still biting and the where and how. I guess I will have to get some Wally Pops and learn how to fish them. Again Thanks!!

    Hb 997C

The next time you are headed down give me a call. My cell is 251-0490. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lonnie
  23. Does anyone in the Frosythe area have a 997c? Mine is acting up or the transducer is going bad. I need to hook my unit up to another tranducer to test my unit and have them hook their unit to my ducer to see if it is going bad. I don't want to spend 233.00 for a new ducer when the problem might be in the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lonnie
  24. Not getting near as many reports from the locals as we were last spring. Where did they go? Guess the hot weather got them. Sure would be nice to hear from them again. LOL
