  1. Terry, I just registered over there and put up some pics! Thanks. Steve
  2. Updated......the Canarywood net is still available and the other two have made it to their new homes. I put a lot of time and passion into these things and I can't wait to see some "fish pics" of the nets in action. I've got another batch of nets in the works now, so I will post up pics when the new ones are finished. I'll let the guys who got nets chime in if they want to about their thoughts on the quality and construction. Thanks! Steve P.
  3. I'd actually like to get a bunch of these out there and start a thread with pictures of fish in the nets!!!!! That would be COOOOOOL. Steve
  4. Hey guys, I've had a lot of great responses and questions regarding the nets. Here's the deal, I am currently making another "group" of nets, and will post up when I've got that run finished. I'm anticipating having them done sometime in October, as I've got a trip or 2 to take in September. As I get those finished up I'll post pictures. I currently have 3 nets available for sale, with pictures listed below. The first is a canarywood / maple handle with poplar / cherry / poplar basket. The second is curly maple / padauk handle with cherry / poplar / cherry basket. (the back side of the handle of this net has a pretty cool "inclusion" in it....just fyi....) The third is mahogany / walnut handle with walnut / purpleheart / walnut basket. Each net has a "marking dot" at 20" and has a lanyard ring attached. VERY reasonably priced at $75.00 a piece plus shipping. PM me if interested. Thanks. Steve
  5. Yes, I turned the acrylic calls on the site as well. THANKS. As far as tools, I've got all the basics, bandsaw, drill press, table saw, etc... Steve
  6. I'll post some progress pics and bending equipment photos as soon as I get a chance. THANKS!
  7. THANKS! The netting is nylon. The handle on the rod IS cork! It's a cork burl. It is heavier than a regular cork handle, but not so much that I didn't want to give it a try. I also turned the wood insert on the rod out of a leftover piece of burl wood that I had from a duck call I had made. I thought it turned out pretty cool. Thanks again. Steve
  8. Oh yeah. If I do decide to do a second round of nets, I would be able to do specific wood combinations if you have something specific that you'd like. In other words, if you really wanted a walnut / cherry net with a certain wood in the handle I'd be able to take "orders". Steve
  9. Decoys and duck calls can be seen at http://www.parisiweb.com I guess I need to figure out if I'm selling them. I've got these 4 and 4 more that still need baskets, plus about another 8 in the works. To answer another question, the dots on the handles are a design element that I also use as a measuring device. You always know the approximate length of the fish just by laying it out on the net for a photograph. If anyone's interested send me a PM and I'll try and come up with a price. If it's not this batch I'll probably have another batch done in a couple months. Thanks. Steve
  10. After taking a bit of time off over the summer from decoy carving and duck call turning, I decided to try my hand at making some fly-fishing gear. I've got about 8 nets completed, and am in the process of finishing up a new rod. I've got a South Platte / Colorado trip coming up and wanted some fun stuff. The nets were a lot of fun. Bending the wood was pretty cool, and I had a blast playing around with scraps and trying to do some neat stuff on the handles. I even branded them all. Here are 4 of my favorites on the nets.... First one is spalted elm, padauk and maple handle....walnut and maple basket: Second is canary wood and maple handle...cherry and maple basket: Third is curly maple and padauk handle...cherry and maple basket: Fourth (and the pics DON'T do it justice) is walnut and purpleheart handle....with walnut and purpleheart basket. (I HATE turning purpleheart but it is AWESOME in this net...): Here's a pic of the rod I'm building. Turned the insert and the cork handle myself, coming along well so far..... Now I just need to finish it up so I'm ready for the South Platte, the Roaring Fork and the Frying Pan.....woooo hoooo! Steve
  11. Kinda what I thought - thanks! Steve
  12. ....they'll let up on the generators at all this weekend? And just for my reference, what's level is considered "wadeable" below the dam? Thanks. Steve
  13. Well considering that it's STILL raining and coming down hard, I'm not expecting this to happen. Oh well. Might swing out there and see what it looks like. Thanks. Steve
  14. I'm going to be down around the end of the week. IF the generation slows enough to fly-fish below the dam (not from a boat, but wading...). What flys should I tie on and how should I rig them? It's been a couple of years since I've been down in the area, so I need a refresher course if someone doesn't mind! So what flies, and how much weight / line to get 'em down there????? Thanks.
