  1. Any recent reports?
  2. Went down yesterday to fish. Got there around noon and went to the west side next to the fence. They weren't generating and were only letting 500 CFS out through one gate. The whites were biting pretty well on rooster tails and road runners. They were sitting about 10-15 ft. out from the bank. Caught about a dozen keepers and a countless number of smaller ones before they turned a generator on at 3. After that the bite stopped. They shut the water off about 5 and the wind started to die down. The top water bite turned on then. From then until dusk we caught a lot of small whites. Just before sunset the top water really turned on. We had three monster hybrids get off and got one in that was 7-8 pounds. After the sun set, the whites mixed in with a few crappie started bitting on a jig. Unfortunately, we did not have a lattern so we had to call it a day. Ended up with about 15 whites and the hybrid. Even with the water not running, they're still bitting!
  3. The one down from the Station (Pecan Grove) no longer offers tent sites.
  4. Slider, Did you guys try the west side since they had the gates shut down or see anybody catching any hybrids or whites out of the generator current? I think I am coming down tomorrow and am just trying to get a feel for where the fish are now that they have had the gates shut down for a few days.
  5. Where and what did you catch them on?
  6. Hey guys, Just wondering if anybody is having any luck. I saw that as of this morning they had the floodgates shut down. Last week when I was down, the gates were making it pretty tough to fish. It was also making it tough because the hybrids were sitting out in the floodgate current which is a ways out there and pretty tough to fish. Just wondering if the hybrids are moving back over to the generator side or if anybody is catching them period. I'm coming down again wednesday, just wanted to get a feel for how things are looking. Thanks. Jared P.S.- right now I'm sitting down at taneycomo trying to figure out trout fishing . The water is so high though it's making it pretty tough. Any tips?
  7. Thanks for the tips! What about spoons, are they working?
  8. Hi guys, I am going to be coming down this weekend and we're staying close to the dam. I have never done much trout fishing, but I would like to try my luck. I don't have any fly gear though. Just thought I would see if anybody had some tips for me as far as what to use (I have both baitcast and spinning set ups), where to fish, etc. Thanks for the help. Jared

  11. A lot of times if they aren't running any water that is all you will catch up there close to the fence. But when water is running, that is a great place to be. Sometimes I have found though that if they are running to much water it is better to move down the bank aways. There weren't to many out catfishing, but the few that were I saw pull in some in the 5-10 pound range probably. But they were on the east side and we didn't spend much time over there so I'm not sure how sucessful they were.
  12. Went below the dam yesterday. We got there about 11 and went to the west side. The water was up and moving pretty good (C of E said 16500 cf but I think they were releasing more than that). We started off about half way down the bank. Caught a few small whites. We then moved up against the fence where they laid down all that knew rip rap. Caught a couple hybrid there but not a consistent bite so we decided to try the other side. We didn't have much luck over their either. Mainly a lot of small crappie being pulled in on that side. About 5 we decided to head back to the other side up against the fence. As soon as we got there we started pulling in decent sized hybrids. We fished there until sunset and had a total of 11 hybrids, most in the 3-4 pound range with the largest being 6 pounds. We probably caught closer to 20 total but we threw the smaller ones back. We were using glow XL slab hunters with 3/8 oz leadheads and drift fishing them about 10 ft out from the shore. I knew it was a good trip when I woke up this morning with a sore arm With as warm as its supposed to be this week that water temp is going to shoot up pretty fast. Hopefully, the hybrids will really turn on then. Definitely will have to make another trip ASAP. Good luck and happy fishing!
  13. It is not as close as at Bagnell which is around 225 feet I think. Truman is 525 feet on the east side and 977 on the west side. I didn't see to many bait fish, but we were bank fishing all day. I'm pretty sure there were quite a few around though. There were a lot of seagulls around and they were pulling bait fish out of the water all day. Also, I forgot to mention that the walleye we caught still had their eggs so they have not spawned.
  14. Just got back from the tailrace. Got there about noon and they were generating pretty strong. We were fishing on the west side. In a couple hours, we caught six hybrids and three walleye. The hybirds were in the 3-5 pound range and the walleye in the 5-7 pound range. After that they stopped running water completely and the bite completely stopped. We fished for a little longer with no luck and then went and got something to eat. We came back about 5:00 and went to the east side. We didn't have any luck over there, just some really small whites. About that time they turned the generators back on and we went back to the west side and got back into the hybrids. We called it quits about seven with 11 or 12 hybrids and 3 walleye. All in all not a bad day.
  15. Any Recent Reports?
  16. Are most of the fish still being caught on the north/east side?
  17. Not much. It was to shallow where we were at. We needed to be further down in that "bowl" next to the handicap dock where it was a little deeper but there wasn't any spots open.
  18. I was down there saturday evening about that area. About half way between the handicap dock and the fence.
  19. Where were you fishing at Slider?
  20. Don't quote me on this but I think the limits are: Hybrids: 4 over 18" Walleye: 15" Min. Whites: No size/limit Crappie: 9" Don't know if that helps you out much, that's as much as I can remember though. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
  21. Fished below the dam saturday. Didn't have any luck in the morning, but later on in the afternoon it started picking up a little. A buddy of mine caught a 4# walleye and the guy next to pulled in several whites and a hybrid. I think once the water temp warms up a few more degrees it will really pick up. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down this weekend again.
