  1. Yes, I have contacted the MDC and they said the same thing.....the hogs are a problem and when they know of a location they'll bait it for weeks and trap as many as they can before they move on. If they reveal those locations, it negatively effects their efforts to erradicate them. A hunter usually takes one or two animals, the MDC can trap several at a time if their isn't any interference from hunters. I'm not sure how to go about a hunt without a reliable location. It's a long drive for me and know that
  2. Hi everyone. I've never hunted pigs before but would like to try it. Since the population is increasing I'm hoping someone can give me permission to hunt pigs if they've got em. It's a long drive for me so I'm hoping to find a place with a problem population to maximize my chances. I'm not sure when I can plan a trip but finding a location is the first step. I'd like to avoid an outfitter but won't rule it out if it's in my budget. I also want to avoid hunting locations that are enclosed. Send me a personal message to avoid traffic on this topic or if you have any questions. I'm not opposed to paying a few dollars for permission if it's within my budget. I think it's a fair gesture of appreciation to offer a few dollars for letting a stranger hunt. I'd much rather prefer giving my money to someone who really needs it than a high priced outfitter.
  3. Thanks for the info! Are any of the rivers mentioned catch and release only? I'll hit you guys up later on technique...I'm finding that techniques are largely dependent on the regional areas. Is there any good rivers near the 11 point that have large flat head catfish? Jim
  4. Hi everyone, I'm intersted in taking a vacation to MO. I'm from Illinois in the Chicago area. I only get one vacation per year so I don't want to blow it. I am limited to taking my vacation in the month of August. I belong to the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and love to catch smallmouth. We also have a website like this one and try to promote conservation projects and volunteer work. My brother and I love to wade and fish. We have a small aluminum boat if we need it. We are on a budget so we plan to camp. We would like to hook into some good action on smallmouth bass: catch and release areas especially. Rivers that are creeled get fished out pretty quick...we can waste our money and time in Illinois for that. We are around crowded waters and can't stand the crowds of people. We would love to be somewhere that is clean, and natural...we are also around enough pollution up here; it's a joke. I would also love to go after trophy Flathead catfish or blue catfish. My brother would possibly be interested in trout but especially interested in fly fishing for smallies. Also, I don't know if any of you know about hog hunting but I'd like to try it if the location isn't too far from the fishing. I'm just curious...how's the deer hunting down there. Jim
