  1. I'll be on the Current in the next couple of weeks and wanting some quick tips about fishing. I'm guessing mainly smallies which is good, but is it worth bringing the fly rod? How is the canoe/tube traffic? If I do bring it what flies? crawdad patterns, maybe a popper, or hopper, caddis, leech? thanks
  2. I thought I read somewhere that Maramec was open 7 days a week, can someone help a brother out with the info. I am planning a trip before C&R season is over and have read a few possible flies to use, can someone give me scoop on what the fish have been taking recently in the park. Thanks
  3. I am planning to do a little fishing this C&R season at Montauk and wondering if the cabins are in good shape, if so are there any cabins in particular that are closer or larger or have any other advantages than other cabins. And maybe a quick review of flies that I should stock up on before the trip? Thanks
  4. I was wondering if it is possible to float Cane Bluff to Greer? And if it is, does anybody fish this stretch? I think most of the trout are below the bridge, what about smallies above the bridge?
  5. I would suggest talking with the guys at 11 Point Canoe Rental, on the internet as well, i think one of the owners writes for the forum under the Eleven Point River section, both are very knowledgeable about obstructions on the river and would probably help in shuttling vehicles, also have maps showing camping locations. More importantly they fish and have flies or lures that work and know where they work etc. it is a great river, i am planning multiple trips this summer, camping at Greer and floating Greer to Turner. Has always been a fun time and a enjoyable river.

    Crawfish

I know there was a MO Dept. of Conservation article within the last year on crawdads, it was suggested to use a can of dog food.
  7. I'm planning on floating on the Buffalo next Spring, anybody know about the fishing? I would have to believe it would be pretty good. Don't exactly know when or which section but I know I will be fishing.
  8. Thanks for the internet sites and the helpful fly tying advice. I appreciate everyones time to write back and if I ever get over to Taneycomo I will definitely try and sit in on a tying class. I did buy a Temple Fork Series 1, 5wt, now I am trying to find a creek close enough and temperatures warm enough to try it out. Right now I'm sticking close to home, and using the backyard to practice the cast, my lab doesn't much like it though. Thanks again. I'm sure I'll have more questions for you guys.
  9. I'm new to flyfishing, I can search all day on the internet for flies and other equipment but without seeing with my own eyes who knows. So, until I get to the point of tying my own flies, is there a good place on-line to buy flies at reasonable prices. I am down in the southeast corner of Missouri and there are no local flyshops, so without making a trip to St. Louis, on-line is the easiest. When I do get to the point of tying, where do I start? Thanks
  10. Just asking for a little help. I will be in the area of Montauk Dec. 16, I'm thinking of doing some fishing, if it is worth it. If it is, and hopefully it is, please give me the scoop on the river and suggested flies.
