  1. What size?
  2. Yes, the road to the river is closed but I park and make the walk. To get to this spot on the river, simply look for the T&M gravel sign on the road. If you're coming from the dam its on your left past watts.
  3. I usually fish the T & M access. There's always room to move around and fish. Plus, I've had better luck catching bigger fish there. If you want sheer numbers...fish at the gravel access area, but for less pressure and more solitude try T & M.
  4. Glad to hear someone caught fish on it! I switched to a green wooly and caught a few off that, then I used an egg pattern and caught a 15-16 incher. After a break for lunch, I caught 4 more on a red midge by the cable near the dam. Finished the day with about 13 fish. Good fishing and great company!
  5. I didn't catch a thing on the fly we were given! Fished it for about 2 hrs in various ways...nothing. Who ended up winning?
  6. Is generation going to play a factor in the tournament?
  7. I've fished numerous places in numerous states and have never pulled in more fish than I have at the LIR. I've had days where I've gotten tired of taking the fish off the hook. Nymphs, midges, micro jigs, worms, and buggers all produce fish. I'd recommend the LIR...if nothing else, it'll put your curiosity to rest! :-) Good luck with your degree, you going to go the Game Warden route?
  8. I've heard about this in the past, but always found out way to late! I'll be there this time and I've got 2 others coming with me!
  9. Do I need to contact someone to sign up? When and where do I need to be that morning?
  10. Sounds like a great time, wish I couldve been on the river that day. Plus, I love listening to stories from the old and wise!
  11. Ive caught my biggest fish at the T&M sand and gravel access points. Red Midges seem to work really well anywhere on the river. Good report, I hope to catch some tomorrow!
  12. Would anyone have any idea where I could possibly do some wade fishing on the White? Is there anywhere I could be shuttled to?
  13. Base camp while in Wyoming will be Sheridan. Know of anywhere around there?
  14. Al, thanks so much for putting that detailed post together! I hope to try one or two of those spots if I'm lucky! Guess I'll just have to wait and see who's willing to go exploring with me! Thanks again!
  15. Ill be headed to Wyoming and Montana for a week and plan on fishing as much as I can. Anyone know of any nice streams up there to try? Ive fished the Big Horn, but it was in the dead of winter this past year. Jackson Hole looks like it fishes well, but im not sure how close Ill be to it. I plan on taking lots of pictures but thats only if I catch some fish!
  16. What are the requirements for operating a boat in Arkansas? Based on what ive seen, I need a boating license/permit. Is there a way to get a temporary one? Any information would be helpful!
  17. Good report DaddyO, glad you were successful this weekend! I fished today and took my fiancé. I spent a lot of time watching and helping her, but still manged to bring in ten. She hadn't caught a fish on a fly rod until today! She was like a little kid at Christmas. She had trouble with judging the strike indicator at first, but after I stuck on a thingamabobber she knew when she had a bite. I caught all my fish at the kiddie pool, but the fiancé caught hers by the dam. I don't think she will be joining me every trip, but I know she had enough fun to definitely do it again!
  18. I fished sunday. As stated, fishing was fantastic! I caught a few fish off a bobwhite but most of them came on an orange worm. I fished the kiddie pool for about an hour with no indicator and let the current do the work. I had a take every time! I quit counting after 15 or so. It was nice being able to get back to the river after all the heavy flow that's been going on!
  19. It's been almost constant for 2 weeks! Hopefully it'll end soon enough.
  20. Looks like we won't be getting our wish. The water isn't going to be down during the weekend.
  21. Im really hoping they aren't generating because Im planning a trip as well. Plan on starting up at the dam and kayaking/fishing down to Gore Landing then camping for the night. Hope they keep it off!
  22. Anyone else planning to fish the river this weekend? I'm hoping they won't be generating, but with all the rain we are getting who knows! The weather should cooperate so let's hope the Corp of engineers does as well!
  23. I'll tie up some hair and coppers before my next trip down. T & M gravel road access had the best fishing that day. Thanks for the info on the bobwhite DaddyO, it worked great! We'll eventually meet up on the river and slay some fish together!
  24. The day started off really really slow. I tried my luck in the area just above the kiddie pool and I couldn't catch algae! It was horrible. I used just about everything in my box but couldn't hook a fish. I had 3 or 4 takes and broke off a fly on one fish, but never brought anything to hand. I was pretty annoyed ( plus I had run out of tippet) so I took a break for lunch and grabbed some more tippet. Tried the area at the end of the island, just above the small waterfall of the gravel parking area, and my luck changed! Caught 8 within 10 minutes using the bobwhite! After they quit hitting, my uncle and I headed down the T&M gravel road to access the river there. The fishing was fantastic! Caught several on the bobwhite but thought I'd try a San Juan. The pink San Juan was a destroyer! They hit it almost as soon as it was in the water! Unfortunately, I lost the 2 worms I had, but not before catching about 10 more fish. Finished up with the bobwhite. Fished it until it unraveled. Caught 2 that went 18-20 inches. Pretty good day on the water. Finished with about 25 total.
  25. Hoping to try my luck later today below the dam. I'll post my results when I return.
