Wow, I dream about fish like that. Congrats to her.
  2. Very Cool Article.
  3. I'm heading down to the Eleven Point for a fishing trip with some buddies the last week of August and was wondering what to expect of the river that time of year. How's the fishing? Is it crowded? Is the river lower? Best places to fish? That kind of info would be great, plus anything else that you guys may know that will help us. I can't wait to be back in a canoe catching some trout on the Eleven Point. Thanks
  4. Nice fish. Congrats.
  5. I had a very similar experience this past weekend. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing float trip with some great fishing like last year, but we had the complete opposite. Myself and 3 of my buddies floated from Greer to 142 and we had Ok fishing from Greer to Turner Mill, but nothing like last year and I think it was mostly due to the fact that there were people everywhere on the river. We saw maybe 10 people last year when we came down and floated Cane's Bluff to Riverton, but this year we couldn't round a corner without seeing a group of 20 people or a jet boat blasting down the river. The stretch from Turner's Mill to Boze Mill was really bad, but it was Sat. and July, but I never thought we would see that many boats or people I was really bummed out. I still had a blast floating and camping with my friends, but all the noise and traffic takes away alot of what I look foward to when we come down for our trip. I can handle a slow day of fishing, but it kind of ticks me off when I think the fishing would have been just fine if the river traffic wasn't so terrible. I will say that the stretch of river from Boze Mill to 142 was really alot better. We saw very few people, but we did see 5 or 6 boats. All the the boat were really aware and slowed down for us except for one guy who just blew by us right where we were fishing. Still love the river and the float, but we will never float in July again, we will either try a different river for a couple of years or we will float in early June. One of the good things about the weekend was that if you got up early and got on the river before all the traffic you were able to see all kinds of wildlife. We saw deer swimming across the river, an otter eating a fish on a rock and a bunch of ducks and minks. I know I make it some like I had a bad experience, but i really did enjoy myself.
  6. How long is that float? We really liked the smallmouth fishing from Cane's Bluff to Greer, but the smallie action slowed down once we got to Greer. We had fun catching trout, but we're not real good at it, so we'd like to fish some good smallie waters. Is the section from Riverton to 146 more trout or smallies?
  7. I'm going to be floating the 11pt July 17-19. Will we be able to float Cane's Bluff to Greer then or will we need to start at Greer? Last year we did Cane's Bluff to Riverton and we would like to do a float that's about the same distance. Where's a good place to take out if we start at Greer and still want to do about 30 miles? Thanks bvp
  8. We're staying at the Lodges (nice place or not?) on Indian Point road? It's like a 1/2 mile from Sliver Dollar City, but we've already got it booked. Thanks for all the info. I'm going to look at all the guides and talk to my buddy I'll be fishing with and should be making a decision soon. Thank again guys. I look foward to fishing with one of you. bvp81
  9. Thanks for all the info. I'll be coming the first week of June and I'll have one or two of my friends with me. I would like to catch some brown trout or really I just want to catch some fish. I've never done any fly fishing, but I would be open to trying it, but I'm pretty experienced with a spinning reel. I'd really just like to find a guide who's rates are reasonable and who can have a good time with the guys (not liked getting hammered, but just a good guy who can have fun and still put us on fish). Thanks Guys. BVP81
  10. I'm planning a vacation to the Table Rock area the first week of June 09 and I'm wanting to hire a guide for a day or two. Can anyone recommend a good Smallmouth guide for Table Rock lake? Can you still catch big Smallies this time of year? Any information will be helpful. Thanks BVP81
  11. I'm planning a June 09 vacation to the Table Rock Lake area and I'm looking to do a couple of days of fishing. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good guides for Taneycomo or Table Rock Lake or which would be a better place to fish this time of year? Any information will be helpful. Thanks. BVP81
  12. Here are some pictures of the trip. We didn't take pictures of them all, but we got a few when we were thinking about it.
  13. We started our trip at the Cane Bluff Access area and floated to Riverton. The first stretch of the float from Cane Bluff to Greer Spring was absolutly great smallmouth bass fishing. We probably caught 30 to 35 fish between the four of us and most of our fish were between 13 and 14.5", we did catch one really nice smallie that was 16.5" and 3 other fish that went just over 15" and yes we put them all back like true sportsman. Most of the smallies were caught on either a plastic crawdad or a 5" senko. The second day of the trip we fished the Blue Ribbon area and only caught 2 fish. The first fish was a 13" smallie and the second was a 17.5" Rainbow right at the end of the trophy area (We really wanted to catch a keeper in the Trophy area but came up just short). Once we got the the White Ribbon area we started to catch some more fish I think we ended up keeping 6 Rainbows ranging in size from about 12" to 17"(most caught on crawdad tails fished 18" below a split-shot and drifted in the current) and a couple of little smallies too. One of my buddies hooked into a monster Rainbow about 5 pm on Saturday and never could get it to the bank, but that fish had some awsome power. Those trout were great cooked over the camp fire. The last day of the trip we fished a little, but we mostly just tried to paddle off our hangovers and get to Riverton, but we did manage to catch a few smallies and one more trout before we took out. We had a blast fishing the river and the people a Eleven Point Canoe Rental were great too. We're already looking foward to going back next year. I'll post some pictures when my buddy emails them too me.
  14. Heading to the Eleven Point tomorrow this is what the MDC said about the fishing right now (Eleven Point: 58 degrees, normal, dingy; smallmouth bass good on soft plastic lures; rainbow trout good on Power Baits and corn; all other species slow. (Report made on 6/11/2008). I'm a little concerned about the rain this weekend, but I'm not going to let it ruin my good time. Hopefully we have some pictures to post on the forum next week. I can't wait to get on the water and crack open my first beer.
