  1. I also just got back from river. we were on the lower end and the water was falling fast when we left. I think it was about 3.5-4 when we left. I hear it gets really low that far up. might want to try middle river, or if you just want to tent camp and wade fish try buffalo point. maybe this will help.
  2. We floated Thur. June 18th from N. maumee to buffalo pt. . The river was in great shape I am guessing around 5ft at dillard. We were on our 3rd annual float and this year we took our little kids so did not fish as much. We managed to catch a couple brownies but nothing to brag about. The river was crowded and alot of the people were goofballs, banging on the canoes and slapping the water over and over. One of the boats in our group had a little run in with a tree up from spring creek. We had to swim out and climb on the tree to knock the canoe loose. In the process I spotted two more canoes stuck under the tree down about 3ft from suface. I guess they will get them when water goes down. Well can't wait till next year, I think we are going to float from buffalo pt. to the white. Never done the float before but have always wanted to. I hear it takes about 3 days to do.
  3. I have not seen much activity on here about the fishing this year. Is it so good people do not have time to post, or is it too bad to say? Well we are floating next week for our 4th annual family float and just wondering what was going on. We always seem to catch several good fish but can not seem to catch the big one. If anyone has any info on the fishing it would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Has anyone heard how long the river is going to be shut down. I am headed to buffalo point next week.
  5. Well we are back in Texas from our yearly float. The river was great this year, the first day it was running at 5. Water was perfect and the fish must have thought so to. We started out at Woolum on thursday and floated for a couple of miles and put up camp. On friday we played more than we floated but with 4 kids on the trip who cares. We camped just down from Bakers Ford and just after we set up camp the bottom fell out. I don't know how much rain fell but it was alot. The storm had alot of lighting in it. It finally passed and it was a pretty evening. On saturday we floated on to Hwy. 65 and just up stream I think it is Calf Creek, was pouring mud into the river and it was this way to the take out. In all it was a great trip and can not wait till next year. Thur. and Fri. it seemed as if we were the only people on the river, but sat. is a different breed of animal. There were people everywhere and they started early to. We caught alot of small mouth and several keepers. I had one up to my feet on Thur. evening that would have pushed the 2lb. range. Most all fish caught on rapalas.
  6. Thanks for the info bobber, we will be sure to bring plenty of tails for the kids.
  7. I am floating the middle section this weekend and was wondering on your tubes did you just texas rig or jig head or something different? we are taking 4 kids between 6 and 13 and would like to put them on some fish. any more info would be great.
