  1. First, thanks to all you guys who post the fishing reports. I'm thinking about heading down sometime next week and was wondering how busy it usually is during the week. I'm still getting the hang of the fly rod and would like to be able to avoid the crowds while I flail away. Kevin
  2. I'm sure Brett doesn't really need anyone defending him and my only experience with him is one guide trip with my daughter (she's the one holding the "Fish of the Week" on his website...guess that doesn't get updated as much as the fishing report), but I wouldn't be so quick to judge by one off-hand comment in a fishing report. When he took us out, he did exactly what we wanted -- put us on a lot of fish, answered all our questions, and taught us a couple things. It was the first time either of us had a fly rod in our hand, so he definitely earned his guide fee and we had a great time. As for the slob comment, I don't think he was implying that everyone out there that isn't on the water by 6:00 is a slob. However, on any given day I'm pretty sure you can find a couple that fit that description on the water -- especially as it gets busy later in the day. Write a fishing report (or anything) hundreds of times and you are bound to (1) offend someone or (2) write a very dry report. Kevin
  3. Thanks for the feedback guys. Kevin
  4. I know it varies from day-to-day, but how busy is it typically in the early evening (say 5 or 6 until the 8:30 close) on weekdays in the zone 2 area? As a beginner with the fly rod, I'm trying to find some times where I'll have a little bit more room. Thanks in advance for the help.
  5. Thanks for the info...we decided to just make a trip a bit closer to home and will try Taney as we get closer to the Fall.
  6. We are considering a trip down to Taneycomo tomorrow to try our luck. I've only been down there once in the last few years and that was on a guided boat trip. We won't have a guide or a boat on this trip, so I was wanting to ask about access points. Looking at this map it appears there are several access points near the hatchery. How busy should I expect these to be on a Friday late-morning, early afternoon? Also, is the high water going to severely limit the access? Thanks in advance for any help with these issues. Also open to any other miscellaneous tips people want to provide. Kevin
