  1. I just got my new rig yesterday so reports should be "flodding" in within the coming month after the motor is broken in.
  2. Crappie...... Of course stripers. Lol
  3. I saw that in the back of Prairie Creek last summer. No tower lights. Just straight up skiing in the dark. Morons.
  4. It's sad.........only us fisherman that see this. (crazy boat behavior and ignorance of the law) I guess the other pleasure boaters are oblivious to it. Must be because 90% of them do not have a clue how to drive a boat much less aware that they are by law responsible for their wake. Hard to be responsible for it when manufacturers make "wake boats" specifically to create a wake for tubers/skiers. That's the sad truth. Can't completely blame the boat owner. The dang thing was made to do what it creates. There are boating laws.........no one is enforcing or educating it though. All we can do is shake our heads and avoid the lake during peak times. Which is why night fishing is so much more enjoyable this time of year. Throw in a thermo-cell, turn on the lights and kick back.
  5. Crud........ Now I have to have one. Thanks Baitmonkey......
  6. (Insert meniacle, twisted, and sinister laughter here)
  7. A hybrid has a distinct football shape body and the horizontal lines are broken and choppy on the side of the fish. Also the mouth patch is different.
  8. Gold and tan is carp bub. :-)
  9. Figures......... I look for whites and I find bass or other species You look for bass and you find whites
  10. Only way to know is to try it. Same as anything. What works for you may or may not work for next guy.
  11. Thanks for sharing!! Wish I could go. For the fun of it and not for work.
  12. I think you're on the right track. Trolling is not easy and it can be a learning experience every trip. To those that know nothing about it: Trolling is a challenge and not just blindly letting a bait out behind the boat like most people think. If they have never done it, they don't understand it and feel like it's cheating or that you're not actually fishing, you're just catching fish randomly. TO that.............I say............ Keep wasting gas and chasing bass bud. You're missing out on a lot of fun and education that could improve your bass fishing.
  13. Go get-em indeed!!
  14. I thought that was obvious. ;-)
  15. (this thought came to mind immediately following your comment - had to share) WC....I believe it would look something like this: Caddyshack-Full boat accident scene.:
  16. Bad luck day I think. Fish were on a specific forage and deeper. I rarely go to the dam end.
  17. Haha. He is already playing PS3 games rated for "T" now that it's official. :-/ He has become an addict to Call of Duty. (Haha)
  18. Oops. Yep. I'm a month behind. No.....Boat is this week!!! :-)
  19. Well I noticed someone wasn't "Johnny-on-the-spot" ready to post this report. So I did it!! Lol!!!
  20. It's not the chest itself. I think it's the arrogance of me believing I'll be needing one. :-)
  21. I rode shotgun with Feathers&Fins yesterday morning (early). When he says "meet me at 4:30" he means it. I was getting a call to let me know he was rolling out of the driveway straight-up 4:40. Ole Jolicious could never fish with F&F!!! Bahahahaha (inside joke.......Joe is always late by 30-60mins) We fished the lake straight away just as the sun rose. We drug bottom bouncers around on water as still as a piece of glass for quite a while. Watching carp and gar do aerobatic surface activity as well as a few white bass. After the sun rose, we couldn't take the "skunk" in the boat and tried crappie jigs to see what these fish were we found on the sonar. No bites. Not even a nibble Not even with the sure fire thing "spoon". So.....we tried trolling the Flickers eventually and on rare occassions would catch a few. I (being consistent on my perch-pattern) catch two nice frying pan sized sun perch on the worm harness using the bottom bouncers. The second fish was lucky he went back into the lake to swim another day. If I could have caught a mess of those, I would have kept them. They were just the right size for a fryer. LET THE RECORD SHOW..............I was up by 2 and F&F by "0". (it didn't last long but it felt good while it lasted). Then he caught a hybrid or small striper. (I forget which) Then he eventually caught a small walleye trolling, another white, and the last fish of the day on the way to the ramp was a lone crappie about 10". He was THE LUCKIEST crappie I've ever seen because he went back into the lake insteal of the all-feared livewell. One of the few crappie I've seen him throw back. We were done for the day and with no fish in the livewell (that's a first for me in a long time), we called it a day. We found fish all suspened in the 20ft range and some active feeding fish from 25-30ft. The amount of bait that had moved in was rather odd. So the fish were locked in with that one forage and did not want the nightcrawlers on the worm harness. We drug through them many times. I (we) totally blame the wake boat activity as F&F has been on these fish all week and has caught many of them. They all moved out deeper and once the bait moved in, they were locked and fed on a constant food source. Like a bunch of couch potatoes eating chips and snacks all day. And..................................... I left the ice chest at home and I caught fish this trip. NEVER will the ice chest be brought in preparation for a good catch. For me.......it's bad ju-ju. Don't know why but I proved it's bad luck for me. lol!
  22. Although fish upwind from him. Lol!!!
  23. Turnaround is dependant upon the machine shop. It was about 2-3mo for complete breakdown and rebuild. I have some photos that could scare you. Piston with hole in it, scorched cylinder with grove cut in it. I bet Glen's got many photos much much worse. I had lots of little issues after the rebuild (motors fault) and poor old Glen hung in there with me till the very end including checking the head gaskets that turned out to be loosened from use. "How many hours did you out on this thing???!!" Lol!!! I'll never forget that one. I told him I used it a lot since the rebuild. Good news was, New pistons looked new and motor looked great in the inside even after 100-150hrs of use. Glens a good dude. Highly highly recommend. Best mechanic I've ever used.
  24. I seriously considered a center console boat myself. Went with a new Ranger alum. instead. I still enjoy bass fishing and the flexability I can do with that boat appealed to me as well as the ease of resale later.
  25. Get the kit. Replace it all at one time. Buy a repair manual for that motor and do it all right the first time. It will save you money. Yes, they are a bit bullet proof within reason. Mine lost compression on one cylinder and still ran great. I just happened to catch it in time. Could have ruined the block if not caught. Glen rebuilt her and she's like new. They are cold natured and a bit finicky like an old man. Needs a little loving to keep them running God.
