  1. I do agree the fish do seem to be small in the past few years. This year they have added some lunkers though. I had one fly past me a couple weeks ago that had a jaws of life mouth and was probably 5+ lbs. However the average fish I caught was less than a pound. A little later in the year they seem to get a little better in size so I usually just accept the smallies knowing that the season will get better. Good luck and let me know when you plan to copme down and maybe I can give a report. Fish almost every week at Bennett.
  2. I've seen guys (myself included) use a clear bobber and flie underneath them. It works really well and the bobber adds a little weight to help with the cast. Hope you catch lots of fish
  3. Hi guys thanks for all the replies. Sorry i havent been keeping track. Anyway if you go to bennett during the week (like some of you have mentioned), you definately avoid the huge mass of people. Its the only time I'll go now. Anyway i enjoy reading all of your reports and responses!! Oh ya I saw the Jaws of life trout in zone 2. They might still be there. If you catch a lunker let me know I'd love to see it!!!
  4. Ok it was cold today and my old faithfuls just werent working. My number one all time fly at bennett is a pheasant tail but nothing seemed interested in those. I ended up going through my entire arsenal and ended up using a size 18 scud. Worked well on the smaller ones. I saw A LOT of top water action so I used a 16 elk hair and got some really fun top water action. It was cold so I only stayed about 3 hours but had a good time. Oh ya don't tell anyone but there are some BIG BIG BIG trout in there this year. I saw some that I would have sworn were 5+ lbs. Oh ya, Can anyone tell me why the nymphs werent working? It might be a time of year thing. I must admit, I am fairly new to fly fishing and tying, so if any of you would care to shed some of your experience please feel free. Good luck and happy fishing!!!!
  5. my all time number on fly at bennett is the pheasant tail. I bring 2 sizes a size 12 and a size 18 in the same pattern. Start with the 12 and work down to the 18. Since I've used this strategy I've always been really productive in zone 2. Hope this helps, Good luck and happy fishing
