I've taken my Tracker upstream (which is going south) over the first three riffles. Caught a few whites up there. It was an adventure, had four guys in the boat. I'd love to float it from further upstream, lookin' for a canoe! Guarentee ya... it don't get floated much. Watched a couple of guys in a Champion dragging the boat back down with lots of damage. Can't believe they tried it.
Like Glory Daze said... Six Crossings down is only a six mile float. Gives you plenty of time to fish (and play if you want). There's an awesome bluff on the right not too far after you've started. Good one day float from Rolla. Use either Wilderness Ridge or Rich's Last Resort. There's some long pools though.
GD... remember your post. Talked to Aliston down there today. Her and the husband caught some fish. Said they had to get out a few spots, but only had to pull the canoe a few feet. Stealth fishing when I go I guess. Wife wanted something different than Missouri fishing. Still planning out the Buffalo trip for wed. and thursday.
Gavin, Phil's got the most recent real-time data for the Kings available on the drop down list (if you haven't seen it yet). Kings River outfitters website says it's usually good floating if the gage is reading 3 feet or higher. Right now it's just a smidge below 2.8. I'm planning on floating it the 19th and 20th. Hope it rains some down there. Looks like they might be getting some today...

I'm with ya Turn... I've already sent in my comments. Just hope they've got the balls to do something about the mess those local young'ins are or have created! And it is the young people folks!
GD... floated the lower three miles from Shawnee Creek to the Current the first two days. I've caught some really nice fish down there but the best we could do were 14 inchers this trip. Took us around ten hours both days. We fished hard, weren't in the canoe much. My buddy with me had never floated the Alley to Eminence stretch so on day three we did that. People everywhere! We couldn't shake 'em... and this was on a Monday. I got skunked on smallmouth, just a couple of goggleye. My buddy resorted to nightcrawlers and caught a few dinks and lots of longears. Never had been skunked on the JF before. Hope that doesn't happen again!

Thanks for the report GD... wife and I are (or was) leaving on the 18th for an Arkansas trip. Were gonna float the Kings on that exact float you made after seeing z-hoyts post on this forum. Was then heading over to the Buffalo. I've caught some nice fish downstream from there portaging ourselves, floating into Table Rock. Maybe I should just stay in Missouri. Plenty of spring water this side of the border. I enjoy your posts and pics...

By the way, my Jacks Fork trip was bad fishin' by my standards. But... I was on the river!
Like to hear reports on the Little Niangua. Do you know Karen at Cedar Camp? Usually make the float from Cedar Camp down in april some time. Wanna make a summer float. Great area!
Arguments on this forum are a drag... at least nobody's currsin'. I enjoy what you big boys are reporting, whether it be the lakes or a place like Taney. Main reason I really enjoy this forum is to hear from the small water guys. That's what I am and will always be, I really enjoy it. This is a forum on the internet. Have Whack'em and Ozark Gunner ever met? Bet not. No reason to gripe... do what you do!
