  1. They are good. Bellefonte has been out of power since early this morning. Dad said he goes every once in a while to listen to the branches breaking......said it looks like a war zone. They had a bunch of very large oaks....so cleanup this next weekend is probably eminent. I remember the 2000 storm. I got out with some buddies and did ALOT of clearing and cutting at the elderly people houses near downtown. Looks like I may make a trip over there next weekend to help cleanup.
  2. Dano,.......you reminded me to call my parents and check on them. They are out towards Bellefonte.

    Iced In

No electricity loss here in Pea Ridge yet. Wife and I have had enough bonding time for a while.....lol. I am about to retire to the garage with a pipe and Lefty Kreh. I am working on some bass flies and have a few of his videos to watch. May tie a few. Also got some more in a Geirach book to finish. Coffee, flies, tobacco, and a space heater......all a man truly needs to be happy.
  4. Ours didnt look much different Lee. The pups favorite rope was frozen to the ground........they never got it up.
  5. Its shutting down NW Arkansas. Most schools are closed and news is saying dont plan on doing much tomorrow. Came home from Rogers to Pea Ridge and there were already people off in the ditches.....at 4:00. Goshen has lost electricity. Hold on fellas. Looks like a ten year ice storm.
  6. I have two reels with Rio Grande and love it. Holds up well and the turn over is nice on a variety of fly sizes.
  7. Great pick Terry. Not sure which monopod you got, but there are a few out there that double as walking sticks. Actually I think they are walking sticks with the ability to attach your camera. Just a thought. You are making me mad at mayself for not getting out and taking pics lately.
  8. Great report. I really need to get up to this area.....its only about ten minutes away. Maybe I can see the grandparents and commute on up to the water.

  10. Pretty close BW. We are back in the cove SW of the SailClub. I have kayaked all over the coves there North of the club(in your area probably). That standing timber holds some serious Crappie when the water is right.
  11. My family has a cabin down from the Sailing Club and across from Lost Bridge. I have been meaning to get out and fish it alot more, but I dont have a boat. I do well on smallies and crappie back in our cove.
  12. Welcome from a former Harrison resident. I cut my teeth fishing the Buffalo and Crooked Creek. Lived in Boxley for 7 years. There is truly nothing like flinging a fly rod. I havent touched my spincasting gear in some time.
  13. I did, but just enough to eye ball the area(had my great grandfathers 90th bday at the Jane Cafe). I definately want to make it up there during warmer weather. Water looks good and plenty of structure. Seemed to stay a constant depth, so I figure there are some good sized fish up there. My grandparents live about 5 miles from Powell, so next family gathering, I may sneak down there for a better look.
  14. I can see it being a tad wide, but I would gladly exchange that for more stability. I have had it down most of the water in NW Ark and a bunch in SW Mo........a tiny creek maybe to small, but the Elk, Indian, etc took it fine. Also, you lost me on the gear thing?? It has a capacity of 400lbs......thats about 150 more lbs than I am. I have been able to carry more gear on this than I did in a kayak or canoe. The oars add a bit of work and are sure different than paddling a kayak or canoe, but I have never really run into an issue. Also never tipped it and lost my gear.
  15. How about a pontoon?? I know a fella or two who have killer deals on them. I have been a kayaker for years, but am really warming up to my pontoon. Just a thought. Feel free to pm me or give me a ring if you have any questions.
  16. Any specific price range? I really like the Kimbers but would have to mortgage the house for one. There is also the Colt 1911. Are you target shooting or self defense?
  17. Ok.....never made it up there. So tmorrow morning I plan on heading up to d some scouting. Anyone been on the river recently? I dont think I am going to float, but may do a bit of wading.
  18. Great picture. Guessing facing west, north of the promenade in the undeveloped section across from Simmons First?
  19. Sorry I missed ya feller. Wife ended up getting sick so I was playing nurse maid all night. Looking forward to making it up there at some point though.
  20. Looks like I will be heading out around 4 or 5 putting me at the water at about 6 or 7. Keep an eye out for a champagne Subaru Outback that looks lost.....that will be me.
  21. Good to see you around Lee. Give me a shout when you can sneak away. I still owe you a cigar or two anyway.
  22. I graduated in 2002.....what does that make me???
  23. Thanks for the report. Work has kept me off the water for the better part of three months, but with the week of Christmas off, you can bet I will be out there. It's great to hear positive things.
  24. I recognized the screen name.....ever run into a guy with the screen name Kayak_rat???? Good to see you around bro. If I can ever get away from work long enough, we need to hit some water. zack (kayak_rat)
  25. Welcome BadKarma. As a graduate of Harrison High School I pwoudly say.....screw all ya'll. You don't happen to be on any cigar/pipe boards do you?
