It has taken a while to write and post this account of a great weekend of fishing. I have to nephews, one who was approaching his sixteenth birthday. My brother and I had taken them to Dry Run Creek in 09 during august, just a week before school started. With sports schedules, family commitments and school events the only chance we had for a trip in 2010 was the weekend of Halloween. We made arraignments with a local resort and proceeded on a quick trip to Arkansas from the Mid-Missouri area. Needless to say the event will be one that they will remember for a life time. They fished 3 sessions, Sat morning, Sat afternoon and Sun AM before we left to drive home as the boys had Halloween plans that evening. They must have caught 40 to 50 fish each that weekend; all Rainbows and Browns, no other slam candidates. While the boys have been fly fishing for the last few years this weekend their skills really started coming together. The first time I experienced Dry Run Creek was with my own son 2 weeks before his 16th birthday in 2005. He had a blast and will always remember the experience. He went on the first trip with his cousins in 2009 and proved to be a great tutor. My brother and I were following the changes to the stream online and were totally amazed with seeing them in person. It was a great fishery before and has now been taken to a whole new level. Thanks to all who spend their time and energy so others can enjoy.
