  1. Just was wondering if anyone out there has done any fishing on the Spring river? Seems awful quiet out there!
  2. If it will ever stop raining Maybe wednesday
  3. Has anyone fished the Spring the last week or so? I have a chance to be up that way this coming week and was wondering if a trip there would be worth it
  4. I am interested, where do you live
  5. Can anyone tell me about HeadwaterBamboo rods? I saw them while browsing the web and was wondering if they were worth the money for a starter bamboo rod?
  6. Well how did it go? Did you have any luck at Lassiters?
  7. Spent a cold and wet day on the Little Red Friday with guide Phil Landry what a nice guy. We got there at 7:30 and was hopeful that the weather would clear, of course it did't. It remained cold and damp and at times wet all day. let me say it was not for the lack of effort by Phil that we did not have a stellar day of big trout. We caught stockers thoughout the day, though very slow at times. we started down river of the landing at Dripping Springs and worked our way upriver, pasted the bridges. Around noon the sun tried to peek through the clouds, but if failed, and it rained instead. My son in law and I had a great day, our right arms are very tired from the number of times we cast, and let me just say, it was or seemed like thousands of times, and with each cast was the anticipation of the mother of all BOW's accepting your offering. So all in all no one was disappointed with the days events, of course maybe Phil, for his efforts were Herculian in trying to put us on fish. So if you want a good trip with a good natured guide give Phil a shout.
  8. Thanks
  9. How about some specifics! Lower Acces is where exactly? Isn't Lassiter down the tracks?
  10. We thought about Lassiters but were told fishing was bad all up and down the river. I will wait until the weather gets cold so that the canoers and such are down in numbers.
  11. SPENT THE WEEKEND AT RIVERSIDE AND SPENT A LOT OF TIME CASTING AND WONDERING WHERE THE FISH WERE. MILKY WATER AND LOTS OF CANOERS, KAYAKERS, AND FLOATERS TO ADD TO THE MIX. IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE COMPANY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BAD WEEKEND.NOT COUNTING THE WIND AND THE RAIN. LOTS OF SMALL FISH, BUT NOTHING TO SPEAK ABOUT. USED MY NEW 4 WT. 8'6" ORVIS WITH BATTENKILL REEL. SURE DO LIKE IT. ALSO USED MY TFO 3 WT 7' 6" WITH A WHITE RIVER REEL I PICKED UP AT ROD AND REEL IN LITTLE ROCK. BOUGHT THE REEL BECAUSE I BROKE OFF ABOUT 1 1/2" INCH OFF THE TIP AND HAD IT REPAIRED WITH A NEW EYE. DIDN'T WANT TO BUY A GOOD REEL IN CASE THE ROD LOST SOMETHING IN THE LOST OF THE 1 1/2. IT WORKED OK SEEING IT IS ONLY 7' 5" NOW.
  12. Hard 2 1/2 days on the Spring River. This past weekend had to rank right up there as one of the hardest fishing trips in a long time. Fishing was SLOW. I think Billy and I threw everything but our sleeping bags at the fish! The water was very off colored, milky to choose a word. Got in the river about 4:00 pm Friday and right away caught and released three small bows. Then from then untilt dark NADA, NOTHING, ZILCH. Saturday was not any better, I guess between the milky water and the storm, it should have been expected. But hey, a few days on the water is Great
  13. Weather for this weekend is not looking good for my trip to the Spring River! Hopefully I will get Friday and Saturday morning in
  14. Thanks for the info. I will and hopefully there will be pictures
  15. Good Day Billy - I thought I would try this site, it seems to provide tons of info. I am tying some flies for next week and was looking for some info on what flies I will be needing.
  16. I have a trip planned for 12th through the 13th and am staying at Riverside on the Spring River. Usually use Olive Wooly, but would like any suggestions on flies and new locations. I did see that if I walk down the tracks by Dam 3 I could come to a small island. Don't mind a short walk but need to know what might work there. I really like small stuff, like midges. Any Help?
  17. Caught these last weekend down at Port O'connor, Texas using a crab imitator size 14. I was with my brother who put me onto these in the flats. The Red Fish was a fight for your rod. These suckers can pull like you would not believe, it measured 21 inches and that was all I wanted. The speckles I caught using a white and pink clouser, about a 16 I think. This was an all day event, from 7:30 in the morning until 4 pm. Stripped all fish in, no reeling here.
