    FISHING REPORT

3WT. ROD 6X TIPPET, SZ.14 TUNG BEAD REDSQUIRREL NYMPH. STARTED AT THE DAIRY FARM WENT UP FROM BRIDGE THEN DOWN STREAM
  2. The water is back to normal or better, which is good news and the fish look like they are feeding well. Caught a 16",13", and a couple 12" along with the little guys. Total of about a dozen fish caught, as well as missed that many. Missed one that was very big never did see him. Hook pulled free. Cows were in the water off and on at the Dairy farm which made the water murky, but that helped in the fishing.
  3. Use 6x tippet, size 12-14 red squirrel nymphs, Hares ears samesize, Zebra midges in olive, black size 18-22 under an indicator and fish the lower portion of the creek in the runs and riffles and tear them up. Works for me.
  4. Went last week with all the rain in southern mo. (ozark co.) sat a bust. sunday morning @ 6:40am shot a double bearded bird. 9 1/2 in. and 3 1/2 in. beards and 5/8in. spurs at 26yrds. Maybe get to try tomorrow morning up north if I can get away.
  5. Live in K.C. but but from ST.LOUIS CARDS RULE!!!!! With guys like Pujols and Rolen who needs a barry bonds!
  6. Been reading this post and I'm not going to step on anyones ability to fish Crane, but I never have problems hooking up on fish with the flyrod there. Yes the upper section is real difficult to fish with a fly rod, but can be done. I mainly fish the lower section exclusively with a 3wt. 8'6" rod and don't have a problem. I generally use one style of nymph and that is a bastardized Red Squirrel Beadhead. I use woodduck flank feathers for the tail instead of the fur. Learned that one sometime when I went to Southwest Mo. St. Size 12or14 is best. This past year fished it approx. 6 times and usually catch a couple 12-13" fish with the occaisional 15". This past feb. went down and the water was extremely low but since I drove from k.c. I decided to fish it. Caught one 19" on a beadhead olive midge in a pool and a 15" in one of the riffles along with a couple 10". What i'm saying is don't get down on this creek. You just have to be real stealthy and make long casts if necessary, and work the deeper water thoroughly. Good Luck
  7. YEP that was us. There were some blue wing olives coming off right sown from the put in, but no risers. Then in the big bluff run they were hitting caddis there. Even had an 8incher hit my indicator. I probably could have put on a Elk hair, but I didn't feel like changing over to catch them little guys. Thought I'd stay deep for the better fish. Next time I come to fish down there we'll rent a canoe from ya.
  8. Floated sat. from 19bridge to turner. unlike brian's report at the first island didn't catch anything. Makes a difference when you know the river. We threw everything that day. big stones and streamers nothing. We got our first fish after the second island in the slower water on my favorite nymph sz. 14 squirrel below a stonefly. Only 8-9in. My buddy picked one up below me same size same nymph. Went further down river (don't know the name of the area) but it was a long riffle right before a bend with a tall bluff on the left hand side. Foul hooked a 12in. on the swing. Stomach pumped him to see what he was eating and it was mayfly nymphs in the sz.14. So we stuck with the squirrel nymph. My buddy landed a 8-9in. above me in the riffle. I missed another one and hooked one. Four canoes went by and we decided to go on down. Next riffle Broke off the squirrel and then tied on a sz 12 flashback bh phtail. On the swing getting ready to make another cast, and the rod about came out of my hand. It ran straight down stream in heavy current and had to get back in the boat to chase it down. It was a fat 16" rb. but I thought it was going to be alot bigger. Still happy none the less. He took the pheasant tail. My buddy hooked another and landed 8-9 in. and I also caught one the same. All were wild fish. We took belly boats down the river and did ok, but we were at the mercy of the current in some places. This river is definatley a canoe or better river. We are of the adventurous type. We will be back when the water is down and more clear. Also saw 2 pickerel. One at the 19 bridge behind a root wad and it was about 16".
  9. How are you rigging up for this river? Are you using a sink tip for your MOATS and crawdads with say a 3-4ft. tippet? Or are you using a floating line, long leader with the heavy flies? Normally I use the sinking line and short tippet for streamers and heavy nymphs, because its definately harder to throw them with a long leader on floating line. I'm thinking sink tip and 4x. What do you think thanks, BMOE
  10. SOUNDS GOOD. THANKS FOR THE UP DATE.
  11. THINKING ABOUT HEADING DOWN FROM K.C. THIS WEEKEND. ANY REPORT ON WATER LEVEL/CLARITY? GONNA BE A TOSS UP BETWEEN 11PT. AND NORTHFORK WHITE. LITTLE HELP BRIAN
  12. Its been a long time since i've been to eleven point. Before they put wild trout regs on it, around 1988? We floated the river a day or two after a rain and the water was stained. Didn't catch any fish, but had fun floating. How is the river now? I read that there is more trout per mile these days in the blue ribbon area. I've been to the NFOW many times, but the wildness of the elevenpoint has been nagging at me. Are there any areas to wade, say from the hwy19 bridge up to the spring? Hard to remember what it was like. How would belly boats work on it? Maybe need to make an excursion down there soon. Any word on the water right now since we''ve had this rain the past week? thanks, BMOE
