  1. Sorry you didn't get to make the trip this year. Recent reports are typical for a dry Fall, low, clear water and skittish fish. Glad you had a good trip to the Elk. You may want to try a Nov./Dec. trip. Have had some good days on the Current in the winter.
  2. Another nice blog entry. Good stalk and cast to get the brown.
  3. Did the OK crew fish the Current last weekend? Inquiring minds would like to know...
  4. I thoroughly support brown trout on the 11 Pt., that would be something. Anyone know why no cutthroat are stocked? Any input appreciated.
  5. I agree with more and better enforcement. I'd pay more for my license and trout stamp for this. I've seen too many campfire sites along the Blue Ribbon stretch of the Current with discarded worm boxes and power bait jars.
  6. Man I love your blog post, especially the food/drink parts after the fishing is done. Pine squirrel streamer, hmmm...
  7. Sound advice again Al. I seem to remember reading this, somewhere...have to click 'save' next time.
  8. I have had a similar occurrence on the Current, lotsa bugs, lotsa sippers, inability to hook up. Talked to a fellow who's fished it a lot and he gave me a #22 or #20 dark gray dry, still could not get a hook up. Sam Potter would know about this, his m.o. is small dries to the selective fish. Maybe a Griffith's on point as your 'sighter' and a small midge behind in the film? I will say it again, this river is not a guarantee for big or a lot of fish.
  9. I hear that, got a lot of new streamers to try and some waiting for their 'second chance.'
  10. Excellent, fired up for the trip down your way.
  11. Thanks for the info, concentrating on the stone fly nymphs and various dropper nymphs.
  12. So, to continue flaying a horse that's not quite dead, any thoughts on adult stoneflies or the lack thereof on the N. Fork? Seems like a Chubby Chernobyl in the right colors would be deadly.
  13. It's tied in natural pine squirrel zonker strip. You can vary the color of the sparkle braid and conehead. Google John Barr's Slumpbuster. Interesting they went for the natural, have only had luck with black and olive.
  14. Thanks, we'll see if we can pick the riffles and spots and get some decent drifts. Either way it's all good in the Fall down there. And the grill and beverages await after the day is done...
  15. Been trying to get this together forever, the planets finally aligned. First 'fished' there in 2007, struggled, slipped, fell, tried to mend, and eventually caught my first brown and a rainbow. Jedi hooked two big 'bows at the Falls only to have them shake off. It was summer, hot, and the afternoon flotilla of inebriation was, uh, interesting.

    Eagles Park

You'll see the sign and the Civil War Battefield sign. Pretty nice place to camp, away from the crowds.
  17. Like in three weeks, cuz the Jedi and I and our familias are headin' your way. Staying at Sunburst. Look forward to seeing 'the crew' and getting some advice. Going to canoe in Jedi's 'Green Lady' and pull off, fish, repeat.

    Eagles Park

Have also camped at Ozark Mountain several times, I think I paid $7/night, table and firepit, privacy, which is nice. Probably won't be that private if Eagle's is closed.
  19. Or is it hit/miss? Just seeing if anyone has seen/fish/tied these. Seems like it would be a good part of a two-fly combo.
  20. Sounds logical, just like fishing the riffles, helping to hide the angler. Have to file that for the future.
  21. Glad that some fish were landed, congrats to the teams. A little bit surprised they hit in the rain, haven't ever fished a stream in the rain, lakes yes.
  22. All I can say is, "Yikes!" Great job Michael!
  23. I fished a run just up from the creek entering at Parker and a rainbow came half-way out to chomp my rose-colored Thingamabobber. I then switched over to the cicada imitation and got a couple. Think I'll try a bright indicator post on a simple foam fly. Back to the 'engineering dept.'
  24. Yeah hopefully I will get a couple of more chances. Will concentrate more on where to throw and plop these bugs. Gotta keep trying.
  25. Yeah, we have to adjust. I'm sure the surface flies will pick up. Chance from OK, Gavin and others swear by them. Got a little taste when the 13 yr. cicadas were on last month, a big brown came up and swirled under then checked my foam immitation, then left. Landed 3 decent 'bows on top that trip. That was enough to get me wanting more. Ah this addiction...
