  1. Cool old film, Chief. Were you in this one?
  2. Hey man your blog had great pics and story as usual, nice rainbows and a nice brown landed. Also, interesting olive streamer, hmmm....
  3. You avoided the stinger this time, Grasshopper, that is good...soon it will be time for you to leave, and fish these flies...
  4. That one post of yours from last summer, like 4 or five big browns in one day, yikes. I agree with the first cast mantra, usually you won't get another chance in a casting sequence, move to the next spot and repeat.
  5. Thanks man. This game takes a alot of casts and varying the retrieves, but Gavin's correct, use the tactic to match the next spot on the water. I'm not a streamer guru by any means. Siusaluki's landed quite a few of these, he is the streamer guy on the Current, IMO. It's not a guarantee. Two of my best fish, including this one, have come from throwing streamers. Spent a frustrating morning nearly hooking/loosing quite a few fish when I first started trying it. The other nice fish have all come on regular nymphing.
  6. Good job on the river, hope to get down there this Spring some time.
  7. Gavin's correct, it comes out at the S-bend, right were the logs crossed the river and blocked it last year, just go downstream from there.
  8. Wow! Love to get back to the 11 Pt. this year. Hopefully...
  9. Look at the spot pattern in mid-belly area, different fish. Still have a few to land to catch up to you...:;
  10. Glad you got at least one. Cold front was it IMO, need some warmer weather, rain, some insect activity.
  11. You have to pick your throws and roll cast, back cast. It's a real short game. Good that you got some action.
  12. I hear that. Camped there quite a few times.
  13. It felt great, the fight, the tension before landing...you know. First time out this year, hope I didn't jinx myself!
  14. Thanks Gavin, big nice male made my heart pound. Cold and windy in the PM, only 3 fish landed.
  15. I got a Feathercraft furled streamer leader last year, the one with the tiny swivel. It sure helps. It's 6'. I loop attached about 2' of Seaguar 12 lb. Always use a loop knot so the streamer will 'jig.' Saw your rainbow, very nice, reminded me a cutthroat.
  16. Took the trail from the road downstream from Baptist. It sure saves time to get to the horseshoe bend where the logs used to cross the river. Walked downstream from there. My tactic this time was to bring two rods, throwing articulated streamers with the 6WT, then switching over the the 5WT nymph rig. I decided on a black wool head streamer with stinger in front and #6 in the back. On my second hole I waited a little for the streamer to dive, that was it--hard take and mini-run. Got him on the reel and started the fight. He kept taking me downstream. I'd get him over to the side then he'd go back to the middle of the river. Finally he seemed to tucker out a little so I got him to the net. I could tell that this one was a measuring tape fish--22" X 12". Nice fat male with beautiful bluish gill plates. Also caught a nice rainbow farther upstream, he fought as strong as the brown, though not as long. On a down note, looked up into a tree and a kingfisher had been caught up in somebody's errant cast. I'd seen this before on a website, poor bird. Thanks to Gavin, Siusaluki, and all you other guys who have landed some big browns on the Current. Those posts always gave me hope that I'd get another chance to land a good fish.
  17. Welcome, hope you learn a lot and have success on the river.
  18. Used to camp at Ozarks Mtn. Ranch, but I heard you cannot camp down there anymore.
  19. Love both the Dungeon and Peanut Envy vids. Tied up some white ones and started a yellow one last night. Shedding blood for tying, you are a true 'fanatic.'
  20. Nice work and creative idea, what I love about tying.
  21. Just checking if anyone knows.
  22. I will see, fishing should be good in April.
  23. Nice work boys! Sounds like a great trip, and, looks like it got cold on the jawline in OK this winter, hence the facial hair...
  24. Nice, gotta make a return trip in March.
