  1. seems to me like there is a boat dock down at a state camping facility. just outside of forsyth. went there this spring for bait. cant think of the name of the place but the minnows were pretty darn hardy then.
  2. trolling sounds right to me this time of year. the brushpiles will probably be empty with the water this warm and clear. maybe a little topwater action early in the day, till 8 or so. trolling will also help keep ya cool .
  3. only fished there once or twice. there are quite a few planted fish attractors with signs on the bank pointing them out. im not really familar enough with the area to give any real advice but thats where id start. i know there are some in the cove where nolans point is.
  4. i agree with the get out early and fish topwater approach but im not so sure when i would quit i remember a time a few years ago when we stayed out till noon had to repeat cast a ton but we caught huge numbers of large fish was blazing hot and the water was way high. was a bit earlier in the year but you never know. i use a devils horse a lot in kind of a bumblebee pattern (yellow with black stripes) for some reason, it drives em crazy and this was before perch were found in the lake.
  5. i gotta agree with the previous message. im an outsider from st louis and ive been visiting your area for nearly 30 years. i commented to my freind as we were driving home how shocking it was that a LOT of the small businesses have closed up shop. there doesnt seem to be near as much locally owned commerce as there was in years past. i cant believe thats good to have local money spent and taken out of town, same thing is happening up here in st louis with those darn casinos. more and more small businesses are closing up shop because after the casinos take their cut ,folks dont have anything left to spend at the restaurants and bars. when i first started going to the place i now fish out of,there was a seven mile, one lane gravel road with hardly anyplace to pull over if you met oncoming traffic. now ,its paved all the way to the lake, well just short of the lake anyway. the runoff is eroding what is below the paving something awful. sure its nice to be able to get to town faster ,but at what price. i really think i would prefer it the way it was.
  6. bottom of kk-10 brass lantern resort. have to launch off a rough gravel bar. theres a nicer one in yocum creek, just dont know how to get there
  7. just got back the lake is rising fairly fast but isnt muddy (at least where i was) we caught a lot off crappie but they were in varied places and we didnt seem to find em bunched up. trouble was ,the wind was blowing so hard we couldnt keep the boat in one place for long if at all. we found them in standing timber one day and in or near sunken brush other days. they appear to be post spawn.the eggs werent bloody for the most part. also lucked into a couple white bass of good size. biggest crappie and there were a couple of them measured 15 inches. didnt try bass fishing altho i did get one on a topwater bait. im thinkin next week if the wind doesnt do what it did to us will be great!!!
  8. thanks for the report still gonna go
  9. im gonna be arriving at the lake and fishing anywhere from tucker hollow on up to k dock on may 6th . gonna be there a week. fished the same week last year and really slayed the crappies. from the sounds of things ,there hasnt been much going on. does this mean they are post spawn right now and might turn on about then? im gonna go regardless but i have to wonder ..with all the warm weather , have i missed the big bite for the year? i typically make it down there at least once if not twice a year and have gone days without a bite and other times had to take a break cause the catching was that fast. this lake is one of the best ive ever fished and wish i lived closer so i could visit more often. seems like the water is kinda low for this time of year, are there any plans for a huge rise or do you think they will keep the lake stable for a change? should be a nice crop of crappies this year and im somewhat suprised not to hear anything mike
