  1. High tech Balsa that is laid up in a very proven process...these guys are very good at it...
  2. You ready to order that new boy a boat yet? He's going to be needing it before you know it....Taxidermist just got him a new one and it's nothing short of awsome...very nice set up...
  3. Glad you like the new boat. Rob is Rowill, I just sell a few boats for him now and again. He has a top notch business and I know he builds the best boats on the water. His guys at the factory are the best in the business and put their hearts into builing you a boat. I love that color on your Shawnee--I believe it is the Combat Green. You're going to like this boat more and more as time goes on--kinda like an old ball glove that you get used to. The only thing you need to do now is just add water---and often...
  4. It will work great if your only planning to go downstream, but you're screwed if you start to go up. Go see Rob over at Supreme/Shawnee and let him build you a river boat. Be safe on this high water...

    Sculpin

Woodsman's Sport Shop in Norfork sell sculpins/bait. Most people in this are do not fly fish by the way. Bait fishing is the largest generator of income around here too. Most fly fishers do rent a room, but that's about it. Most do not rent guides and boats from the docks which have been in business a long time before Dave Whitlock, John Gulley, Chuck Davidson, Davy Wooton, and the rest of the fly fishers came. I fly fish too, but I don't knock the bait fishers like most fly fishermen do. I understand that the bait fisherman were here a long time before us.
  6. Woodsman's Sport Shop in Norfork sells sculpins/bait. You have to ask for them.
  7. You can get a flat floor in all models now with the walk thru. Also, Gay is still on the "advisory" board at Shawnee. You know he just couldn't walk away that easily. He's a legend around here in the riverboat building business.
  8. On Walker Rd. just past indoor tennis place at the bottom of the hill. Partee concrete tank place on the left and just across the road is a mini-storage place with a chain link fence. Inside the mini-storage place is a 40 x 60 metal building that they are using to build the boats now.
  9. I think the price for a 48" Shawnee with the flat floor will run around $4,000 plus or minus a little-I'm not really sure. You'll have to give them a call or go by for a firm price, but I do think a boat, EZ Loader, and 3 Tempress seats will be less than $6,000.
  10. Check the Baxterbulletin.com classified ads for boats.
  11. If you're in the market for a new boat you need to check out the new Shawnee's. They've started building a new boat with a flat floor that doesn't have the runners, but you can still get the ones with the runners. The price beats everyone else hands down and like I mentioned before---these boats will be here when the others have faded such as the Supremes have now. I know I sound like a salesman for Shawnee, but I'm not--I just believe they are the best out there and always have been.
  12. Shawnee has moved to Walker Road in Mtn. Home just past Roller Funeral Home. Rob Williams is new owner--phone number is the same I think. 870-449-6373 cell number is 870-404-9791.
  13. Well, I have a 48" wide 20'6" 2003 Shawnee with a 25 hp Yamaha. It pretty much looks like all the rest of the "green" Shawnees out there. I do have a rod box and bait trays and I added an aluminum floor to it to cover up the runners. It is the same stuff they put in the Blazers, etc. from Current River Marine. That perforated aluminum is really expensive though, but it is worth it--no more stumbling around on those runners. I also have an EzLoader trailer under the boat.
  14. I too am a victim of bad Tectan line. I bought mine at Cabelas as well. I bought the 5.1 lb test and it would break off on a 1/2 lb fish so I sent it back and they sent me another spool. It did the same thing, so I did a strenght test on it and it would break at 1.6 lbs. I sent it back for a refund and respooled with my old standby Maxima 6 lb and 4 lb test. The Maxima is some strong stuff, but it does have a little memory to it. I will never buy anymore Tectan.
  15. I have two motors, I have a 2004 25 hp Johnson/Bombardiar I will take $1700 for, it is a great motor, just ran it Thursday at Norfork. Also, I have a 4 stroke Honda 15 Hp. I'll take $1200 firm for it. I don't know the year model, but the man I bought it from said it was a mid 90's. It is a great motor as well. I don't think he ran it much--he bought it new locally in Mtn. Home and had it stored in a boat storage at Mallard Point. He was 82 yrs old and didn't fish anymore, so I bought his boat, motor, trailer and i already had a motor, so I don't need the Honda, but they are great engines. Oh, the Johnson I bought new in 2005, and I am the original owner. It is well worth the money and it is a 2 stroke. Both are great engines.
  16. Is there a list of names of how everyone finished in the tournament?
  17. IMO most resorts and guys that run a boat on White/Norfork rivers prefer Shawnees. There is a reason you see so many of these at the resorts and established guide services. They are the BEST river boat you can buy. There have been many boat buiders come and go over the last 40 yrs, but the ONLY one that has lasted is Shawnee. These boats do not use Balsa and are made with several layers of glass in the bottom. Yes, the runners are made of cedar, but the cedar runner is no problem at all--this does not affect the integrety of the bottom. The dry storage is just what is says--dry, they do not leak like the Supreme. Once again, Shawnee boats have lasted all these years for a reason--quality. No, these boats are not as flashy as Supreme, but I would much rather have one that is proven and will last. Shawnee's new owner Rob Williams will custom build any variation you want. In the past the problem with the Shawnee's was the wait time. It would typically take a year or two to get one, but the new owner has greatly improved the wait time. I had a chance to view his work recently and the quality is excellent. These boats are priced a couple of thousand less than other boats as well. If you're still in the market for a boat you need to give him a call. He is located in Mountain Home now in a new facility that is nice. I have owned almost every make of river boat made in this area and the Shawnee is still number one. And, Supreme is having problems with ownership and quality as of late. J & S, River Skiff, Topwater, etc. ??? who knows, but I will be willing to bet they will be a thing of the past in the next few years.
