  1. Barredrock- I just noticed your post over on Rocky Mtn Fly, don't let those guys get to ya. They're not big on giving out information, they consider it hotspotting. Like I said before, post up here when you have some dates nailed down and I'll hook you guys up with some solid info. I'm originally from Mo. and would like to eventually make it back there and check out the trout fishing by Ozark area.
  2. As Far as Knots, learn to tie a bloodknot, without any tools. Learn to tie it in the dark, and with cold hands. Practice, practice, practice. This will pay off big time if you plan on persuing flyfishing as a passion. D.
  3. Go down and fish the White River East of Meeker. Go up river towards Buford and fish the access across from the Lake Avery Spillway. The crowds should be non existant now. Lots of Whitefish, which are a blast on the flyrod, Rainbows and Cutts. Lower down close to Meeker there is an access just up from the Green Cabins(you'll know em when you see'em), thats good for some Browns and Whities too. D.
  4. I fish a lot of these areas on a regular basis.I make it up almost once a week in the winter and a couple times a week in the summer. The tailwaters are fine for wintertime, keeps the crowds down, but summertime there are a lot better options. The lakes in Southpark have just opened up, which is a good option for some fatties(11 Mile Res., Antero, and Spinney Mt.Res.). Post up here again when you get close to coming out and I can point you in a good direction, or if the timing is right, meet up with you all somewhere and help with the learnig curve for a new area. BTW, try to keep it to weekdays for your fishing, lot less people. D.
  5. I just fished it for a couple of days during the first week of December. We did real well on small egg patterns tied with Golden color Mcfly foam, basic midge, midge larva, and Chocolate KF Emerger patterns in sizes 20-22. I didn't have to get into the size 24's this trip. We had no problem landing 30+ fish a day. We found no need to go smaller than 4X flouro, with a good presentation. The braids were not holding as many fish as I have seen there on previous winter trips. The Kiddie, and Texas Hole seemed to attract a lot of people but we mostly fished up from the Cable Hole and below Andys Island. Go to the links from Abes Flyshop and Motel and you'll find pretty good info.
  6. Your very welcome. I really liked the tmb's when they came out, but just wasn't happy with the intended attachment method. I had been using rubberbands to attach homade yarn indicators in a similar manner and just kinda stumbled onto it. I fish rivers/streams more than anything else, and the ease of adjusting my depth with this setup was like a miracle. I use a Ty-Rite tool to make the girth hitch a snap, and use it like a crochet hook.
  7. Sorry it's taken so long to get back. Anyway, the set -up is something like this. The first picture(step 1) shows the rubberband attached to the tmb with a girth hitch. Step 2: Lay your leader or tippet across the rubberband as shown. I'm using a colored string so you can see it better. Step 3: Open the rubberband and pass the tmb thru the hole about 3 or 4 times (or as many times as it takes to keep it snug to the line). If you have to go more than 6-7 times you might want to try a smaller band. I use 3/16"-1/4"-5/16" bands. Photo 4 shows the finished wrap. It will not be so spread out on the mono or flouro, it will bunch right up at the base of the tmb. [ To adjust the tmb from this point just pull the line tight wet the connection( I spit on it ) and slide the tmb up or down your leader. I usually put it above my blood knot as it is hard but not impossible to pass this connection over a knot. I get the bands off e-bay for cheap. The whole set-up, after you get familiar with it, only takes a minute or so. Hope this helps. If I forgot something or you have any questions, just post here again.
