Hello fly fishers! Just joined your site and hope to learn, as well as help (if I can). I lead a Christian fly fishing fellowship in the St. Louis area called Flyfishers at The Crossing. I lead a group of flyfishers from St. Louis area and we fish ALL winter. I find it the best time to go to the parks because they are empty (we never go in the summer months) and the fishing is great. Did well at Montauk in November and headed back this Monday (Jan 12th). Did best with small soft hackles and small midge larva patterns. Don't miss the winter season. Just fished Meramec Spring park Jan 2nd. Had good success with small stuff. Used small soft hackles (16 & 18) stripped through the trout that would bunch up and "boil" in front of the riffles and below the riffles. Also did well with Prince nymphs (18) fished dead drift with indicator.
