Would it be worth my time to head down with the jet boat tomorrow. I know the levels are put, but they are still below average for this time of year. I'll be fishing for bass, mainly smallmouth. Thanks
Jim
I would use some finesse worms, hula grubs, and jigs. Colors I use are watermelon, pumpkin seed, green pumpkin. I would bring the bow, I left mine at home last time and seen lots of big gar around Jerome. Good luck.

We put in at Meramec state park at 7:00 am, ran up about 8 miles. Caught probably between 60-80 fish between 2 people. All were smallies except for 7 spotted bass, which were fried up that night and 5 largemouth that were released. With probably 10 goggle-eye. Biggest smallie was 16.5 and most were around 11-14 inches, and very healthy. All fish were either on jigs or soft plastics. Didn't have a single problem with canoes and got checked by the man at about 10 am. Very nice agents. All in all another great trip on the meramec.

I will be in my jet boat and I plan on going tomorrow morning. I get on the water at 6:ooam and only go upstream about 5 miles then float back. Thats the only time I run the boat. I'm thinking of putting in at meramec state park, but I'm not sure yet. I'll be off the water before noon. Thanks
Jim
Looking at the gages, the meramec is a good amount over the 80th % and will be for tomorrow for sure. My question is does this really mattter since this has been a year with heay rain? And because the 80 % is an average from years past. Should i just go to the Gasconade instead? Thanks in advance.
Jim
I fish the meramec quite often now and I keep all the spotted bass I catch. I've been on it 5 times already this year and I think i'm on about 30 spots I have removed from the river. As for the gasconade, big, and bourbeuse rivers, I keep as many spots as the law allows. Other than keeping spots, I release all of the other fish I catch. Well except for some catfish and crappie.

It was a little high for sure and it wasn't the most clear I've been it. Visibility was around a foot and a half. We went 8 miles up from birds nest and the boating went well. We caught about 20 fish, mostly smallies around 10 -13 inches. I had about a 19-20 incher but I lost it right at the boat. All in all a good day considering the conditions.
Jim
The forecast shows the river going to 3.5 feet tomorrow afternoon, thats a half-foot rise under a day. Will the fishing still be good with the rise or will the water be too muddy? I'm still planning on boating 10 miles up from bird nest. Should I go to a lowe section to fish? Thanks
Jim
I have nothing against using worms in high water as well, as long as I don't get lazy on hook-sets. We didn't have clear water at all on the upper gasonade last week, so I don't think that will be a problem. Thanks
Jim
I think I'm going to try to jet either from birds nest 10 miles up or from Onondaga and up on friday. Any suggestions as to water levels and fish? Thanks
Jim
I was going to float the meramec, but its just up way too high. So heres the question, if I do a 2 day fishing float from riddle bridge to jerome would that be a good area for smallmouths? I plan on starting tomorrow if possible. Thanks
Jim
I don't think I usually have a whole lot of luck on those slow holes for some reason, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Will there be lots of jets in Onondaga to Blue Springs?
Jim
I'm going to canoe the Meramec river for about 10 to 15 miles and was wondering if anyone could point me in a good area to go this time of year. i usually only go in late summer. Thanks
Jim
I have been a canoeist for years, but decided to try something else. I have been boating since I was a little kid and I have already used the jet about 20 times on the mississippi river just getting used to the handling and stopping. I only bought it to carry a few more people than a canoe and to make short day trips that aren't possible with canoes. The boat is only a 60 hp in reality, it only does a little under 30 mph.
All over Mo is where I want to go. I have found some restrictions on the current, eleven point, and jacks fork. I am sure there is more, but I can't find anything. Thanks
