I like the "have a buddy or someone else take the perfect scenic shot of me with fish." However in the real world a simple shot of the fish laying in my net works also. One of these days hopefully it will be a fish thats to big spilling half way out of my net. JJ

I actually had planned on attending how ever got lost. Its all my fault I allowed myself to trust yahoo maps without diggin any further and ended up on the wrong side of the park by the dog museum. By the time I got back home and figured out where it was. It was well past the starting time of the meeting. So maybe next month. Congrats on the prize, rod building is something I also have always been interested in. Hopefully I will get to meet y'all soon. JJ

Sorry for your pain Dale. I personally have never broken a wrist but have sprained more ankles some so bad my toes all most disappear in the swelling. Hope that its your line hand and not the rod. However if it is you may need a lighter rod to help with physical therapy. Wink wink Think that I will try and get to the water quickly. "just to help ya out." JJ

I would also like to thank The Night Angler for leading me to my very first fish of 07' a 20" brown caught at about 4am the morning of the 1st. Used his flies that morning and have had success with a few similar patterns since on other waters. Thanks you for your willingness to share some of your trade secrets and the very positive welcome of you and others at the New years get together. JJ

I will have to say that I do skip/skim most all writing done in all CAPS. It just isn't a good/comfortable read as they say.

After leaving Bennett due to very high water. LOL (see other thread with pics) Went to Montauk to finish up a week long trip and could have not had better timing. Just missed the rain. And the fishing was great fished in the flies only section everyday. When the wind was up couldn't keep the trout off of size 12 cracklebacks fished on top and would occasionally take one skipped or just under the surface. When the water grew flat I would tie on a soft hackle and slowly swing them back which led to great numbers and a few two pounders also. Lots of "dinks" but there were larger fish to be had just not as many. Had most success with size 10 wooliebuggers in olive with a gold bead head in the morning while my fishing buddie caught well with 1/16oz black and yellow marabou jigs in the mornings. In the afternoons and evenings I used crackle backs in blue and green holographic with a furnace colored hackle, also brown and olive with a grizzly hackle. and soft hackles small browns, and partridge and orange worked equally well. While my buddy fished under a weighted bobber using small white, beadspread and john deer mini jigs, egg patterns(globalls) and caught well also.

Rich guess you missed all of the water that came at the beginning of the week ...LOL Just as well I had to finish my week at another park.

I picked up my first from Feather-Craft before a recent trip and I think I am a convert. First thing is that little metal ring makes adding tippet a breeze, however I have never used so much tippet in my life but didn't have to buy another leader all week. Then it is the smooth and powerful turn over and built in indicator a red section about six in. long built in at the butt section of the leader. It is awesome for nymphing up close however if I am drifting at distance I still used a small football indicator. No memory like Dan said was ready from the git go. And Only one wind knot all week (in the leader) all week (this is actually amazing as anyone who has seen my casting can attest to) and it was easily removed and no left kink because it never clinched. IMHO This is a great new discovery for me and I will be buying more as needed. Even tho I would recommend anyone using them to buy the bigger spools of tippet and have a smooth means of dispersing said tippet so that it is a quick change.

Going to Bennett. Will be in a Green Tahoe With a All Over Motorsports sticker on the back window. Will be camping there in the 300's I think. Stop by have a cold drink and share the patterns and techniques working for you and Ill do the same. Not sure when Ill be leaving seems that there is a moss cut scheduled for Wed. so my take of to Taney or more than likely Montauk. To finish out the week. Not sure where I'll camp there but the truck stands out so. If ya notice a guy with his back cast in the top of a tree attempting steeple casting( allways trying things that I saw Lefty do) you can laugh just don't forget to say "Howdy."

Well its very difficult to target specific rises, and dodge the huge amount of moss while trying to strip, swing, or skate a crackle back or soft hackle. And since these are my perfered methods at the park for my I tend to avoid the cutting. There are those that might say it would add to the nymphs and such in the water column. And if ya tied on a mini jig under a indicator or weighted bobber you might do quiet well.

O no not a thread dedicated to mans best friend! I am currently on my second Brit and her name is the same as the first "Bete." She is currently a retired form the field 15yr old that really has been more of a house dog than her name sake. And is I am shure in her final year as I write this. However all of my dogs will have there own spots and a Dogwood sapling for each of them. Along the edge of the property were they run along the fence annoying the neighbors with barking and frantic tail waging for the rest of there days. JJ

For those who don't get away enough and really like to read the reports and view the wonderful pictures that come from this great shop near Bennett "THERE BACK". Seems that they have not missed a beat. Still the same great content that I have become used to. http://www.missouritrout.com/weavers/report.html Thanks to all the staff at Weavers for helping get one of my favorite websights/troutfixes back up and running despite all the obsticals thrown at your family as of late. However lets all keep Jerry in our prayers. JJthetroutbum

<If this post needs moved to the original request for prayers feel free to do so> Seems things are positively progressing at this time for Jerry. I just read there report again today and it seems that, Well I'll let there message speak for them. Fishing report for Bennett Spring State Park, brought to you by Weaver's Tackle Store Sunday, July 29, 2007 Dear Friends, We are happy to report that they were able to complete the surgery on the five retinal tears in Jerry's "good" eye this past Monday. He can see a little bit out of it now (hampered by "floaters" that the doctor says will be there a few more weeks), but his doctor believes there is a "good chance" that vision will be kept in that eye. The next three months are the most critical period, according to the doctor, for the possibility of further tears, so for that time period, he will be monitored very closely and very frequently. "You and I are going to become best friends," is actually what the doctor said to him to give you a better idea of what we're talking about here. Obviously, he is severely restricted at this time in terms of physical work. He is allowed to go to the store for an hour or two a day to "supervise" and to do light clerical work. As the eye heals, some of those restrictions will be lifted, of course, but for now, he will be making only short appearances at the store. Until he is able to do more, we will be maintaining a lighter schedule at the store and plan to be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. As for resuming the Online Fishing Report, we will start it up again as soon as he is able to spend more time in the store, freeing Brenda up to write the reports again. Please bear with us on both scores. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Many of you have asked about the other eye (in which he has no vision), and we can say at this point, that there are plans to see what might be done to it in the future, but that is months away. They must save the other eye first and make sure it is completely healed before they even think about what might possibly be done to the other eye. It is impossible to say in words how grateful we are for all your offers of help, support, prayers (there are many prayer chains going, and we believe they're working!), e-mails, phone calls and cards. While we cannot respond individually at this time to your messages, please be assured that each and every one is being read to him. Some of you have asked for our mailing address, which is: 11388 Highway 64, Lebanon, MO 65536. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you're doing. We will keep you posted here with periodic updates on his condition. Thanks again for everything, and please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. 'til next time, Jerry & Brenda Miller Weaver's Tackle Store
