  1. Do you have the recipe for this fly?
  2. Whats a hibernator?
  3. With the rain/snow forecast and how cold they say it is going to be on Saturday, I'm sure they will be running at least 2 units.
  4. Welcome to the forum. Are you fly fishing from the kayak?
  5. That's cool. Hopefully you guys will be fishing together for the rest of your life. I am teaching my 6 year old girl how to cast a flyrod and how to mend. She is doing good and she remebers 10 and 2. Ha
  6. I second that opinion. Brett Rader is a great guide. I have taken 2 trips with him and 2 weeks after taking a trip with him I caught my first 9 lb brown using the methods he taught me. If you want to learn to fish for trout and never have to take another guide trip, I would go with him.
  7. I would go with C F box. I love to fish in the rain. I fished this last Saturday and fell in Taneycomo. It was pretty darn cold. But all my flies were still in place and bone dry.
  8. October - November is the best time, so you can catch huge browns.
  9. Love the first picture. It looks cold in the 2nd one.
  10. In all fairness to Phil, as this is his site, I would recommend him or one of his guides. There are a lot of great guides in the Branson area. I would do a google search for taney guides and table rock guides and decide for yourself. Here are some of the most familiar: Lillies Landing Bill Babler River Run Outfitters Back Country Outfitters Chartered Waters Archers and Anglers Jeremy Hunt Leonard (Taney Night)
  11. I always knew brown trout love peanuts.
  12. Last I heard Bosco was in jail for keeping freezers full of fish. Multiple fines over the years were not enough. I met Boso when I was a kid at Meramac Springs. The best bait we ever used was: Take white bread and take off the crust. Take a can of sardines and drain the oil and save the oil. Mix the bread and the oil and walla. It is a simple bait but very effective.
  13. If someone catches a 38" brown trout out of Taneycomo I would like to see it. Can't say its never been done, but how often will you catch one that big? I like to take pictures of the fish and measure the length and girth and have never had a bad replica. The law allows people to keep trophy browns and rainbows with is fine, but I think it is a matter of selfishness. It's hard to release a big fish like that back in the water, but think of how many other people will have the chance to catch that fish. I keep some small ones every once in a while to eat them. The best way I have found to cook them is in the dishwasher. Yes I said the dishwasher. Just make sure you don't use any soap.
  14. I was going to start with some 20 and 22 and use them as a dropper.
  15. I would have to agree that Bennet is one of the toughest parks to catch fish in. If you like a challenge you will like Bennet.
  16. Phil, Did you get to see any of those games. It was a great tournament and C of O was very impressive considering they were not even ranked and they took second place.
  17. Its a little bit of a drive but Indian Point Marina by Silver Dollar City is cheaper than Table Rock State Park.
  18. What makes the forum even better is every time you post on it. You can learn a lot by posting.
  19. Thankyou for the help. I'm going to tie up a bunch and use them this Saturday at Taney. I'll let you know how I did.
  20. Nice fish!! Did you get that one out of the Rebar Hole?
  21. Anyone planning on going fishing tonight. I'm going to try and be down there by 9:30pm.
  22. Welcome to the forum. I would love to go ice fishing some time in your state. I freeze her in the winters catching fish so I might as well catch fishin sitting ina nice warm shed fishing thru the ice.
  23. Has anyone heard of the young special used at Taney? I saw a guy last year catching fish non stop and he said Young Special but I never got to see the fly. If anyone knows what it is and even better knows how to tie it please let me know.
  24. I got off work around 4:00 pm and was on the water around 4:30pm. I didn't have my day rod with me, so I just used my night rod. I've heard so many people say you can't catch fish on 5x during a sunny day. Well it was sunny yesterday and with little wind. I started out just below Outlet #1 stripping a olive wooly and on my 2nd cast caught a 22 inch rainbow. I said, man this is going to be great. Caught 6 fish after that by switching back and forth from wooly to leach. I'll admit you have to strip pretty fast, but I'm glad I proved the theory wrong!!. You can catch fish on 5x and by the way there were several people using 6x and 7x that caught zero fish.
  25. I agree with you about the bass technology getting out of hand, but once you go outside of that to a general technology, think of where America would be if we all had your same mind set. We would be living in caves or huts. No thankyou to that.
