Crappie Or Catfish
binman replied to LEBHUNTFISH's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Pat you just need to get with me and I will show you crappie you might get lucky and catch a couple but nothing like what you are wanting you need to be at Stockton -
Well from what I have seen at Stockton and we have tried to fish the last 2 memorial day's and it's un real how many idiots the lake gets I want to fish this week end but I am going to wait until monday or tuesday before I go back out
-
Went out for about 3 hours and started crappie fishing didn't do very well so started bass fishing and had a awsome evening pulling fish in the boat had one going almost 6 and another that went 3 easy on a chart spinner bait in 2-5 ft of water just had to slow roll it threw to some brush and started catching little 7-8 in. black crappie so I tied on a chart jig and had 9 keepers and a few shorts in about 20 minutes off that one spot tried every where else around it and I guess our luck ran out but it was a good day of fishing, not bad for 3 hrs. Did how ever see a whole lot of small mouth and drum floating dead wonder what that was all about I was watching some one in a blue Busch Beer bass boat when they left I hit that spot not really with much faith and caught my 6 pounder I was not expecting that I figured they would have fished that place out

I have seen crappie caught on all kinds of different rigs but I use 4# on an ultra lite set up and works well for me. The best advice I can give with crappie is to be gentle when setting the hook don't rip the jaws off so to speak, bass now there is a different story just try to experiment and see what's best for you because if you don't feel comfortable with your equipment you will be let down every time. Good Luck and Good Fishing

Can some one tell me how to pics on here i can't seem to get it to work
-
Well this sucks I got suckered into family dinner's and birthday partie's some one save me some whites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I could see where stickers or some thing would be good if you have boats that are common and the same color but as far as me I am the only one I have ever seen with a lime green and silver Champion so finding me out of the bunch is not too hard but I would put a sticker on my boat maybe on the motor cowl some where up high where people could see it
-
I will send you a few spots through the PM that can help off the bank but most of your better fishing at Stockton will be by boat
-
1980 champion with 150 Merc Green/Silver Metal Flake Will be at Campbell Point May 5 some one come show me how to fish!!!!
-
Well I am going to head to Taylor then tomorrow rain or shine and give her a whirl. I will let you all know how I do.

Also would like to add that we did what we call Gambling with our luck I had originally planned on running to CC where some friends I know had been catching them real good but we decided that instead of running that far with out fishing there first could be a waste so we took out to the price branch where I am sure there had to be some crappie in there some where we just didn't find them and that happens to every one at least once. i learned more about crappie fishing last year in them tough conditions then I ever thought I would
-
It was big fish until one day I tried to sign in and it would not let me so I had to change my ID I just don't have hardly any one that want's to fish them with me so I just go and try to learn as much as possible off every trip and apply it. I know the lake fairly well but I am struggling to find a partner that want's to fish my buddy that I took with me he quit fishing on me and just sat there for approx. 2 hrs. so it was pretty much me fishing I think this next one I am going to try to get my dad or some one to go with me so at least I know he won't quit on me. This next tourney is going to come at the right time for the way I fish so I might do better
-
Yeah it was a tough one but I have had many of days like that but I think finding out that my Grandpa was in the hospital kinda put alot on my mind so I just gave up instead of fishing like I should have but either way congrats on winning that one crappie you guys had was a nice one to say the least I think this warmer weather we are going to get will make fishing alot better for the way I catch em it's any one's ball game in these 7 fish tourney's though so next tourney I am prepared to at least wiegh-in.
-
Yeah Vince sure had some nice one's I would have liked to see more boats there was my only complaint. We did have heavy rain fall so may be the next one will have better weather and a better turn out. I am sure we can do better than 3 boats. If you are catching crappie guys come on out and fish a few you never know just might win it all.

Fished the crappie tourney today and needless to say I SUCK!!! Did not even get bit 1 time. Maybe I needed to try to find warmer water I had 53 in Price Branch and 55 by 215 bridge. The creeks might be warmer and that could be where they are hiding did see lots of bass wieghed in today all the ones I saw where in good shape when released. The biggest I saw was a 6p7o pig a fella caught on a Carolina Rigged Zoom lizard in Chartreuse. What I was told by every one the fish were on the bank tight but the bite was good.Lots of walleye caught today bass fishing and crappie from what I understood the big slab crappie were on cranks shallow 10ft. and the walleye 6ft. on a Carolina Rig. It was surprisingly a nice shower for a while then it poured.

Last year I fished Springfield almost 3-4 times a week and man alive we would fish tight to some banks where the tree's over hang I had I can't tell you how many snakes fall out of the tree's into the water next to my boat. Mid-Summer I went out with a buddy and we had to have seen over 50 snake's right in the channel by the park just on that one short stretch of bank. I would say you can put any boat in there period if the props not on it then the boat won't move. One more thing that i would also do is not be in possesion of a key or a prop of course. I have seen a ton of people do it even if MDC was there and they did not seem to mind so I would say your okay but might want to try calling and asking first to avoid the hassel or a ticket.

Lake Springfield Tourneys
binman replied to ckjacks's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Springfield Lake don't close at night it's mainly a cat fishing lake hell I have been out there on boat at 3:00 am I have been talked to by security and Springfield Police Department and have been told that the lake is open at night to fishing if you are just walking the bank it might be closed just curious where you got your info? They may have changed it since last year. -
From what I hear Crappie fishing that dock is not real good until dark but that's whenthey lock up the parking lot I would try off the concrete on the sides of the bridge
-
I have fished that public access dock and I for one have got hung up and pulled Cedar limbs out numerous times and the same with the bridge on both sides are nothing but Cedar every where. The bridge I could very well see people being able to throw brush over that at night but man that's alot of brush!! I was just wondering how all that would end up there by a private party instead of the MDC. They lock up the parking lot to the dock at dark every night so you would have to carry some big time brush quite away's!!
-
Well I am glad you can back me up as they were in a tan/white Terry bass boat lost all night and did wave you down. I am glad I can rest my case truthfully.Well as it turns out I am not a liar imagine that!! How do you like to stir that whodat!!!!!!!!!!
-
Not sure but with Fellow's I would think that CU would be who you would have to ask.Call the marina and ask maybe they can help more than me
-
I see where it would sound fishy too but when you see the fish your self what is one to believe? I guess I should have been lost in the fog instead of at Stockton on Sat as I couldn't buy a bass. I also think when they caught them big bass it was still day light out side they put in at 7:00 pm so they still had some light.I was told they ran about 10 min. away and was fishing when the fog got so thick they couldn't see with their spot light to find the ramp so when they did try to make it back they got lost. When day break hit they were 5 mins. away from the ramp.So they did know where they was at when they took off in the day it was the fog that hurt them.
-
Yeah I am glad they were safe and like I said I am still not one to tell who what or when they can keep some thing they catch when I am not even there you no. I on the other hand would have not taken that many fish I will how ever eat any 15-16 in. bass I am not above it but I do usually catch enough crappie that I usually don't keep bass. I just wanted to clear things up for every one that this was a trip my buddie's told me about,I thought it was funny so I decided to share it with every one for a laugh and some how it got carried away into I am a liar and lord only know's what else. I did see the fish they had in the well when they came home and they did good but had one unforgetable trip.
-
Well I had no idea that a funny story that happened to my friends would cause so much drama good night I figured every one could use a good laugh guess not and for the one who called me a liar just wanted to let you know I have never lied on a post and why would I lie about fish that my friends caught? I guess you had too much to drink again does that not get old? Next time you call some one a liar make sure they are actually telling a lie and I find it to be quite rude and still can't figure out why you would say that. Any who hope you real angler's on here got a good chuckle out of that.
