  1. I tell ya with as much as we have trolled the loz. We have on had a few small striper bites. Mostly bass and pretty big ones at that quite frequently.
  2. I definately was not holding out in front of me, hahahaha that sucker was too heavy for that for sure. PM sent.
  3. Pops is 6'4 260 and I am 6'0 230 if that helps gauge. hahahah. Dont know shoulder width off hand.
  4. Yeah thats what i was thinking. It definately weighed more than a trolling motor battery. We all know how much those weigh. lol Believe it or not i have caught others on crank baits as well. here is a flathead i pulled in 2 years ago. Same thing. Crankbait.
  5. Caught plenty of Bass and two exceptional Crappie. None of the bass were over 4-5lbs. Overall a great fishing weekend. Funny part is, I bought Dad a BPS CatMaxx 80 reel prior to heading down... you know, for his Fathers Day gift. All of this with dreams of catching Walter this past weekend. You know what i mean.....all of these big (dam) fish stories we hear about on TV such as river monsters. hahaha darn divers who claim to not want to go back down. yada yada yada Dad and I do a lot of trolling near docks and main channel. You can catch some monster bass along with many other species this way. Also you dont end up casting you arm out within a weekend of fishing. So i have this heavy duty catfish pole right? Well its at the dock and we are trolling the main channel with lighter Bass type tackle. Pulling a rapala deep diver. BOOM! The reel starts screaming. Tackle was just 20lb braid on a 4000 reel and before i know it the line is nearly gone. I have maybe 50 loops left on it and i proceed to tighten the drag even tighter than before and fight it out. I tell ya it was like what i normally experience saltwater fishing for shark or tarpon. Unreal the amount of energy this fish had. Unfortunately we didn't have a scale. What are your guesses? I think its a minimum of 50lbs. It felt heavier than a trolling motor battery thats for sure. Great Blue Cat fun for sure! Happy Fathers Day Dad! We will be talking about this one for years!
  6. Yeah.... We have caught flatheads just the same on crankbaits. Crazy how aggressive they are and how they will hit a crank.
  7. Fishing was really slow this weekend. Threw the whole box at them and only came up with two bass and a drum. All on crankbaits. The two bass were nearly back to back. Thought i had my all time lunker bass but ended up being the drum.
  8. Going to be near the dam area. Hope this year is as good as the last few. Will post pics and whatnot come monday. Can today go by any slower? ha ha
  9. Nice Bass guys.
  10. Well i threw my whole Tackle Box at them over the weekend. Nothing seemed to work other than trolling the outer edge of docks with deep running rapala's. Total 8 bass most of which were around the 2lb mark... one nice one at 4lbs. Of course no pics.... forgot the camera back at the house. Seems the fish are still deep. No action on top water whatsoever. Got a nice size crappie on one of the deep runners too. Crazy how that works.
  11. Yeah.... been there done that. Thanks for sharing the info though. Cheers
  12. I hope to make this a good trip. This year has sucked so far for bass.
  13. I have no insight near the dam area.
  14. Although people many argue this..... The dam area has been a no go for decent fish so far this year. Dont know whats so different than other years. I caught 4 bass all weekend. All of them were less than 2lbs and two under a pound. Sometimes you really gotta wonder why a bass would attack something so big. the lure was just as big as the fish!
  15. Should be a nice weekend. Will post a report if i get the gear out.
  16. Modified 2002 Camaro SS Vert..... Cammed with zo6 heads and other misc bolt on mods. Not too crazy but it does the job.
  17. I stay near the 3mm and let me tell you that i am really disappointed with the lakes condition this year. so much debris in the water and it is so murky. We ended up bending our prop on a suspended log over last weekends venture. Fishing was poor for us and we usually slay em this time of year.
  18. Yep it is more murky than i have ever seen it... i hear its due to the flooding of the upper river but who knows.
  19. This weekend was close to a total bust. Mind you we are located on one of the busier parts of the lake and other than morning fishing..... the water is just not friendly at all. I could not believe the amount of debris in the lake this year. We bent the hell out of our prop on sunday.... luckily we were able to get the boat home. Caught a total of 4 bass all of which were 2lbs and under and not worth taking pics. For the past 5 years we have caught so many fish over Memorial Day weekend it was close to unbelievable. This year we threw everything at them and came up skunked. We ended up catching our 4 fish trolling with crank baits at about 10ft on inner cove points. Our arms were tired of casting and retrieving for 3 days and coming up with nothing.
  20. Best of luck to all who are also. I know we slay them every year around this time after spawn.
  21. Nice catch!
  22. Man i tried everything that weekend and nothing produced. Glad someone had a worth while trip! Tight lines!
  23. Nice one!
  24. Yeah had a good time. Bass were non existent. Everyone i talked to that morning had no luck whatsoever. I guess the water wasn't warm enough or something. Normally i have really good luck at the lake. I even headed up into the Gravois arm (where everyone was fishing so it seemed). Still nothing. Pup had a good time and loves the water. He just needs to get some guts and jump into the water on his own. I guess that will have to wait until i can get in and taunt him to jump. Too darn cold for that this time of year though.
