  1. Hi ya'll, Got another question for you(imagine that huh?) Where I fish at home is a complete chunk rock bottom. I starting to get frustrated with losing some many lures due to the snags on the rocks. Any tips on how to combat that? Also has anyone ever used a lure saver? Thanks!

    Help Please

Thank you Captain Joe. The more I thought about it the more I wasnt sure if I should get Right vs. Left. I think ill try the left as it does make more sense. A local sportstore has a Revo STX 6:4:1 (I think)in left hand retrieve for $130 right now and as far as I can tell thats a pretty good deal. Thanks for all your help and I'll be in contact for a day out on the water we I hopefully make it back to The Rock this summer!

Jeez you guys are so helpful, thanks to everyone, especially Captian Joe. Im going to hold off till BPS has their sale though. Do they usually have sale products online too or is it just in the store? No big deal I'd just have to travel a bit. Thanks again.

    Help Please

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am kind of leaning towards a reel with a magnetic brake system because the centifugal(sp?) one seems confusing to me. In turn, probably means my price range has increased a bit Thanks all for the suggestions, I just looking for something that will be relatively simple to learn and reliable.

    Help Please

Thank you for the tips! I am looking for advice for a specific reel/rod. As in, which models or makers would you reccomend for a beginner. Thank all, such a great community here.
  6. Last year I made my first trip to The Rock. I found this forumn and made a thread asking what type of tackle to use. I got many wonderful responses from many different people. For that I would like to say Thank you! Your expertise is amazing for a lake that is so large. Especially to Bill Babler. Everything that he said seemed to catch fish. I am planning on returning this summer again, and will be getting a guide for at least one day in hopes that I can catch a fish bigger than 1 pound Regardless it was a blast. Thanks again. Secondly, I come here again looking for a little guidance. I have always fished with spinning reels and I decided that this spring I am going to give the baitcaster a go. I am looking foward to many frustrated days on the water and headaches. However I am determined to learn how to use one of these things. I am wondering if any of you would lend suggestions on a good reel and rod combo. I am looking for something that is good quality and easy to learn with (good brake system, ect). Im looking at combos no more than $160. Thank you all again. Ross Sioux City, IA
  7. Hi all. First I would like to thank you all for your help and deatiled fishing reports. It's certainly very nice of you to be so forth-coming with information, especially when you fish for a living (jealous). After the replys from of last thread, I think I got my tackle taken care of for the weekend. And some Crown Royal XO for afterwards! My question...what are some good 'local' restaurants. Seafood and stakehouse places that you would recommend? I hope to find a good catfsh place while I'm up there (I dont eat bass ) Also, are there any sites, shows, or nightlife spots that you would recommend? Thanks all and good fishing! -XRAY
  8. Hi, I just picked up some of the zoom fish doctors that you mention here, and they are much different from any worm i have ever fished. For example, they have a smooth side on them, and are pretty light. My question is how to rig them. I'm assuming split shot, but do you hook the bait through the nose with the hook coming out of the smooth side or vice versa? Or do most hook them Texas style? Thanks in advance, the members here are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that alot. Good Fishing.
  9. Whats the name of his tackle store?
  10. Thank for the tips I appreciate it...Three Mile? You from the Emmetsburg area? Got alot of family up there. Do most guys C-rigor T-rig the Fish Doctors ?
  11. Wow, Thank you very much for taking the time to write such an informative post! I really appreciate that! We are staying at A resortin Hollister Mo on TR. Thats all I know Got me awful excited for TR!
  12. Hi all, I'm pretty new to this forum, but I have been reading around on here quite a bit. Thank-you to Bill and Don and all the others who post detailed fishing reports, as I have learned alot about the area. I realize that these men make a living on the water so it is very kind of them to post helpful hints like that. I'm am heading up to Table Rock lake mid-may (15-19) to do some bass fishing hopefully. I am from Iowa, and thankfully I am traveling with a few experienced bass anglers that can help me out a bit. Around where I fish, mostly on shore, i just use spinners and worms so my tackle lacks a bit. My question is what would be some must haves for TR? Some locals here, describe the water as very clear, and recommend natural colored baits. Is that accurate? I do have some general ideas on what to buy such as: Crawfish/Shad colored crankbaits Green Pumpkin Zoom Finesse/Trick Worms Strike King Sexy Shad Crankbait Watermelon and Green Pumpkin Tubes Ect... I do plan on visiting a couple local bait shops (any recommendations?) down there to see what they have to offer, but am I going in the right direction here? Also, any specific place that I should eat or things that we should do/see while were there? Again, I am counting down the days and cannot wait to get out on the water. Thank you very much in advance! Good Fishing!
