  1. Not anything special but figured I would try to start the forum off...... Fished for the last couple of hours out on the main channel and some spots in Dardenne Slough up to the G.E. Ferry. Hit mainly riprap banks and wingdikes for white bass. Caught several throwing white grubs and black/chrome rebel crankbaits. If you can find wingdikes on the main river, especially L-shaped dikes with water passing thru the middle, you'll find fish. Several small ones but also some nicer sized fish. Watch out for the danged jumpin carp though. We caught fish on both the outside of the dikes and on the inside where the current goes through.
  2. Sold people alot of reels over the years and there are some that just want/need the spincast reels. There are only two out there that I have found that are worth a plug nickel. Zebco Omega $60 and Daiwa Goldcast III $55 There are a few features that set these reels apart even though the basic premise of the spincast reel is bad. The spools of both reels have better oscillating than any others on the market which helps keep the line layed correctly. Second is the pickup pins that swing around to grab the line as it wraps it around the spool. I believe that one of the reels has 3 pins while the other has 2 but don't quote me on that. The other difference is on the construction of the pickup pins themselves. Most spincasts use only one pin and it is usually plastic. The line wears a groove in the pin and bad things happen. These 2 reels use metal pickup pins that actually spin as the line passes over them. Keep in mind that these are still spincast reels so they are still poorly designed, but they do the best with their limitations. Probably 2/3 of the people that I showed those reels to wound up buying spinning reels after I spent just a couple minutes with them. And it sure feels better to have that $20 spinning reel in your hand than that $60 spincast. But if you HAVE to buy spincast, only buy one of those two. Hopefully that helped.
  3. That's what I'm leaning towards. thanks
  4. (I meant to post this here instead of the tablerock forum, guess I'm just expanding my search!) Alright.....been reading this forum for years now and realized the other day that I never registered a screenname. I was borned and raised in Willard and fished alot of the area lakes and streams growing up but I moved to St. Louis about 5 years ago and that put a real damper on my fishing. Being a financial advisor has eaten up most of my time especially in this current market! Used to love to drop everything and wade the trophy area at a moments notice. And living down in SWMO, all of my buddies had boats to hit the big lakes, usually tablerock or stockton. Well now I am officially out of the loop, hence the reason I never registered a screenname........didn't have any good info to add! If ya have questions about hunting, especially turkeys and waterfowl, or even the occasional market question, let me know! (Can't answer any market questions online though, big no no) So here's the deal....... I'm heading to branson sometime late tonight. I've got some business to do down in the area and I'm taking some time for myself. I had a buddy lined up to fish with tomorrow on the rock(several of you TR tournament guys would know him) but alas, he has a last minute committment to work. All the other guys I know in the area with boats are all in the same........well.......boat! They all have to work. But I am bound and determined to catch some fish, might even chase a turkey or two......I still know where them longbirds are! I just need some advice on the fishing. I know the bank fishing up at Taylor shoals in out due to high water. Constant generation in the trophy area of Taney is gonna be a chore to deal with. I'm thinking I might try some bank fishing or wading for whites and crappie up in swan or below powersite. Might even venture out to some of the creeks coming in to stockton as I use to have some luck up there. Point me in a direction guys and I appreciate the help. I don't want anyone to have to give specifics, just what would you do if you were in my position? Sorry for the long post.....just wanted to give you some background on myself so I'm not some anonymous guy asking for info(even though I am ). On a side note, I had posted in the upper bull shoals forum yesterday to get some friends of mine on fish. They found some and had a great day! Unfortunately, no room in the boat for lil ol' me! I'll be checking this post throughout the night before I leave. Probably leave sometime between midnight and 1am to be fishing or chasing longbirds at first light! Thanks again! Chris

  6. Boat..... and on a side note, the boat owner isn't a rookie so they can handle most any strategy. If a fellar would rather send a PM......feel free. Thanks again guys.
  7. Need some help guys...... Got a buddy fishing down in branson. He flew in a friend of his that is handicapped and loves to fish. They were gonna hit the whites up in the james but the water rise killed that idea. They are currently heading to Swan creek and/or Beaver Creek and are looking to catch whites/crappie/walleye/ anything that will bite. They are armed with a map and tons of tackle to cover just about anything. Any tips on what they should be throwing or where to go? I suggested starting at swan with sliders and look for the crowds of people but I know you guys are better at this than me......I haven't fished down there in a few years. Thanks in advance for any and all help!
