  1. I was talking about roaring river (RR) not B-springs. Looked at a map of RR and it even says kids swim area in a section of zone 2 or 3. I know you CAN'T swim at B.S. but sombody said they shut down the swim pool and saw or heard of people swimmig in the stream and in 30yrs of fishing their I had never seen that.
  2. thanks bird heard of bikini and aluminum hatch but not vinyl. I fished RR early this spring so had no idea they let people swim next to people fishing, that is pretty messed up.
  3. people are swimming at b-springs? I have only fished roaring river once, so do they let people swim in the park? what is a vinyl hatch? I have fished b-springs for 30yrs and never seen anyone swim, haven't been much this year but if people are swiming that is pretty crazy

I was down there saturday night from 11:00 til 1:30 was at the boat ramp for awhile, then walked down to pt. royal, and back to boat ramp. one guy fished above me when i first got in (heard him but couldn't see him) but noone was at pt. royal. when i walked back up two guy's where fishing the faster water by ramp. caught six so not alot but enough to keep me busy. It was my first time night fishing was fun but alittle worn out from fishing ALL day.

    Hatches?

how far is the walk from cardiac or suicide whatever is closer, to the park. Is it walkable?
  9. reply for bman, the last three weeks water has been alot higher and caddis hatch was still massive. love the caddis hatch.
  10. sounds like a great day. I have been down the past three weeks and the water now is at the lowest its been. just started fishing the current this year was wondering how low, slow does the water get. I really thought water last weekend was great. One more question i walked up to the end of the park last time i was there and a tree had fallen in the water in front of the cabins so had to walk around on land, do they mind if fisherman walk on the bank or is that private/no tresspass property? I crossed the river and walked on the other side just to be safe.

    Hatches?

Thanks for the info, good to know about cfs and wade fishing down there, at 722 that does seem really high if 250 is ideal. I have heard about the white fly hatch and if you hit it it can be alot of fun. meramec is a little less of a drive than the current, but i haven't seemed to make my truck turn left at rolla yet.

    Hatches?

I have not fished the meramec before but read threads about what works there, seems like nymphs, san juan worms, etc. I was just wondering if there was any dry fly action (hatches). really enjoy the current wondering if they are similar streams. thanks

    Question?

didn,t walk up past it too much just to the next bend but the fish did seem to be pretty aggressive, if you had one rise on your fly and missed him he would come back until we was caught, you might have to change up but he would come back. it would be nice to walk to the park and fish your way back, maybe next time.

    Question?

well i lied and went down on saturday and got the skunk off my back. i didn't fish much different than last weekend but i did fish a little different water. last time i went fished alot of the flat, slower, shallow water, fished it yesterday and no luck either. okflyfisher, i did go up to rock garden, did good there, above and below it. caught fish on deer hair caddis, stimulater (in fast water), soft hackle and even a beetle. i was wondering how different is the fishing on the river when it is at normal (lower) water levels? are the fish a liitle more spooky, hold in different water? p.s. the place was a wreck, road to baptist and van tan off of yy were impassable with all the downed trees, had to drive around thru the park. water level wasn't bad few trees downed in river though. thanks again.

looks like the river is getting pounded with rain today, probably not a good weekend to go down, bummer i was ready. thanks again for advise will have to use another time. i will have to invest in sink tip line.

    Question?

Thanks for all the feedback looks like i will be fishing lots of streamers this weekend (weather permitting). when you guys fish steamers on the current do you usually use full sink line and strip it back? Gavin thanks for the detailed feedback, I have never fished a diving caddis is it the same as swinging a soft hackle, or is it dead drifted? okflyfisher what does "rock garden" look like? I am assuming lots of rocks but will it be evident when i see it? thanks again.

    Question?

it did rain the night before and usgs report when i got home did say that it was rising thru the day but it didn't seem really high to me, was fairly swift moving but never fishing before don't know if that is the norm and water was just a little off color but still pretty good. so the fish were taking flies off the surface when you fished? maybe it was just a weird day. i was thinking when i go back to go below baptist. thanks

    Question?

fished the current for the first time on saturday and fished my butt off from noon till 7:30 with not a single strike. started at tan vant and fished down to baptist and then back up. on the way down i swung a soft hackle at first, then used a brassie for a while until a nice brown hit my indicater, so switched to a hares ear with no luck. even put on sinking line and stripped a woolly for a while. got down to baptist turned around and about that time the MASSIVE caddis hatch was on along with some big (#12) cahills. fished 3 diffrent caddis patterns and a cahill pattern but no luck. i would see a fish every once in awhile hit the surface but instead of sipping off the surface they were acually jumping out of the water and catching the flying caddis. i found that out at the end of the day when i sat down by the parking lot and watched 3 fish jump and catch caddis out of the air. I was really suprised that they left the light cahills alone with them being so big, but they would just float down the river untill they were ready to fly away. even though no fish i really enjoyed myself, loved the river and all the wildlife along with only seeing 3 fisherman all day and they were at the parking lot when i got there. Just looking for alittle help here, and wondering if that is unusual for the fish not to be rising on the hatches. Will be headed back down this weekend she hasn't beaten me yet, haha. thanks P.s. not much of a indcater fisherman will that really hurt me on this river.
