I am intrested if there is other people out there like myself and my wife that are proud of our old boat. We have a 1971 Mark Twain that we have converted into a fishing boat. It has a 6 cyl. 165 h.p. i.o. Mercury that runs great each year. We have put in a new transom a few years ago because the other one had rotted from a previous owner. I was intimidated at first but then I thought, what have I got to lose? The boat was of no use the way it was. It was burnin up the rubber hubs because of the misalignment. We bought glass fabric and resin at West Marine and went to work. Years after that we took out all the seats and tore out the flooring seeing that the stringers were in bad shape. So we cut everything out and ground and sanded it down to the inside hull. Put in new stringers and extra support under the new flooring where new seat bases were going. Topped it off with my wife putting in marine carpeting and putting in a GPS color sonar. I think sometimes that I'd love to have a new boat right now, but it runs good, doesn't leak and fish dont't care what kind of boat your in! It's just a movin platform to fish off of. Anyway, I hope some out there liked hearing what we did and I hope you share your boat story with others. See you on the water!
