  1. Cody is right, don't come expecting to catch the 10lb class fish. I have only caught 3 that were that weight and over. I caught one 16 and 1/2 in 1996. I live here and have been catching hybrids since they got big enough to stay on a hook. I use to schedule vacation for a week the second week of October, it was MONEY... then about 3 years ago I went all week and caught a handfull of fish..so you never know anymore. I would say if you come mid october you WILL catch some fish! I would advise getting a guide for a half day, but if money is the issue and you cant afford one then you still may be alright. If you have manners and won't act like an idiot when fish are up the locals will help you out. I fish with a group of older retired guys in the Cove Creek area, they keep me informed where fish are so when I get a rain out day or take off I know where to head . If you keep these nasty tasting fish, then the limit is only 6, and thats for the day..
  2. give Cody a call... he will hook you up..
  3. wish a few of the 41 boats last saturday would have read it .... then we all could have caught a few fish..
  4. Just thought I'd give some tips for any of you who come to fish our lake for hybrids on top. Please STOP at least 50 yards from fish on top. Please DONT start your motor and run through fish. Please DONT pull so close to someone they cant even cast in the fish. Please DONT take a limit to your house and come back 3 times for more limits... (they taste like crap anyways)hehhe If you have to leave, then use your trolling motor to ease out of the fish and then have a nice trip home... AND most of all... if you hybrid fish, dont fish by me with your ski boat with NO trolling motor. I have seen so many people doing all these things,, just plain crazy. Everyone could enjoy catching fish if the "few" would act right and show some manners!
  5. Its hit and miss. We got about 8 inches of rain and the lake came up up a foot or so. I went today with no luck. I heard they were catching a few around old hwy 25. I fish cove creek and its dead. The shad moved back out in the lake when the rain started last week.. I'm gonna start looking somewhere else for them this week.
  6. what Cody says is true.. I've been on the lake about every day ( after I get off work) . I have had some great 2 hour blow ups, but not consistent yet. Only thing that is consistent is they can be in one area today and 3 miles across the lake the next. Shad are everywhere, so its just where the fish decide to have dinner for the day. We have had about 8 inches of rain the last 2 days , according to all the "old guys" that LIVE on the lake.. they tell me its over for a while now.. we went Monday, Tues, and never saw a fish break. Got rained out and was going to go today, but just got off the phone with one of the "old guys" and he told me to just stay home.,,,, nothing happening . I 'd go catch some trout.. hope this helps
