  1. Thanks for the help guys. We worked very hard last Wednesday and the only bass we could find were off the pilings of the bridge. I'm back in Texas now and it's 107 degrees. I'll definitely be coming back to fish Pomme again with my bro-in-law....probably in the fall sometime. Any suggestions on fall fishing? (one month generally better than another)
  2. Okay...after my humbling first trip to Pomme De Terre...and I do mean humbling....I would like to go again but next time fish at a little more desirable time......when the water is not 90 degrees. If I had to guess.....it would be when the water reaches 70 degrees (spawn) right? I was really surprised we weren't able to find a bass over 10 inches. Just looking to get my brother over there so he can catch some fish. Any thoughts?
  3. Hey fellas, thanks for the suggestions over the past few weeks. My bro-in-law and I fished the lake yesterday and didn't do that well. I have never caught so many 6-9 inch bass in my life. We were also hunting for muskies....and were unable to raise a single fish. Crappies weren't exactly cooperating either. Trolled for walleyes in an area we marked fish and nothing. We covered every inch of the water column....from topwater....to drop shot...to carolina rig and everything in between. We had the water temp at 87 degrees which may have had something to do with the poor fishing I guess. Not to mention the bluebird skies for most of the day. Were our results typical for this time of year? We fished areas that were marked for specific species.......just didn't do well at all.
  4. Hello guys, never fished for muskies on Pomme and will be doing just that in a week or so. Looking for a little advice on lures to throw at these toothy critters. Areas of the lake that may be better than others or other suggestions are welcome too! Thanks for helping a fellow angler!
  5. Thanks! It won't be for lack of trying I'll definitely report back and let you guys know how we do.
  6. Hello guys, we were originally going to fish Lake of the Ozarks but changed our mind decided to fish Pomme instead. Neither of us will have fished the lake before. We will be chasing bass in the early morning along with crappies. Hope to switch over to muskies as the day goes on. Does anyone have any suggestions as to places to begin looking for either of those species. I looked back through old posts and it sounds like the crappies have found the timber for the time being. Just looking for some sort of direction for the bass and muskies. Any sort of info you don't mind sharing would be greatly appreciated! If you feel more comfortable sharing info you can e-mail me jensenmd@hotmail.com Thanks I hope to hear from you guys soon!
  7. Thanks guys for all of the help...I really appreciate it. We are going to stick to Pomme instead and hopefully avoid some of the crazies on the water. I really enjoy chasing muskies...so that was a determining factor too. I do hope to fish LOZ in the future though....seems like a good lake if you can pick and choose your times to fish. THANK YOU!
  8. My bro-in law and I were thinking about fishing Lake of the Ozarks but have since changed our mind and are going to try Truman instead. We'll probably go after bass in the morning and switch to crappies or possibly hybrids later. What techniques should we be pre-rigged with? I was hoping for a good top water bite...if not...can adjust to anything. I would like to know what the EXPERTS have to say. I guess I was hoping to find some areas to fish to get us started for bass...specific bays or points would be nice. If you would feel more comfortable helping me out through e-mail that's fine too. jensenmd@hotmail.com I certainly don't wany anyones honey holes or GPS coords. We just want to catch some fish Any kind of advice you want to offer up is MUCH appreciated!
  9. Thanks guys...I really appreciate it. We'll be driving from St. Louis. When you talk about fishing below the Bagnell Dam......is that to the West of the Bagnell Dam Road or to the East? I hear ya about being on the water at the wrong time. I live right next to Lake Lewisville down here in Texas and it's one of the most dangerous lakes in U.S. I have NO desire to get involved in any of that while at LOZ for sure! lol
  10. Are the lack of replies due to the few number of people that fish Lake of the Ozarks....or is it just a lack of people that use this site? Or do people not want to help fellow anglers out? I guess when I signed up for this site...I was excited because LOZ is HUGE and is very initmidating for 1st time fishermen. I'm looking for some info on where to put the boat in conjunction with some decent fishing. Not looking for anyone's GPS coordinates. Just some help getting started.
  11. Hello guys, my buddy and I will be coming in from the East here in a couple weeks to fish LOZ. Neither of us have fished the lake before.....we'll be probably chasing whatever is biting...lol. From bass to channels to crappies to whites.....doesn't matter. It will be AFTER the July 4th weekend.....we would obviously like to stay away from the noise and jet fleas out there.....any areas for us to target....simply to get us pointed in the right direction? Thanks!
  12. Thanks Catman....I was thinking with a lake that size guides would be everywhere....but evidently not. If anyone else has any advice...i'm all ears!
  13. Hello guys and gals! My brother in law and I will be fishing Lake of the Ozarks shortly after July 4th this summer. Neither of us have fished the lake before so we are probably going to hire a guide. We are multi-species anglers looking to catch some fish and learn a little about the lake. I've searched on google and found very little. I'm sure there are guides on the lake....just couldn't find much. Can anyone help?
